I managed to add an item to my list (seems like I'm going backwards!) Forgot I have the retirement home on September 1 and so the easy service I did for the church really isn't going to work there (no sermon, just videos, and the content doesn't apply.) I've quickly identified some material to use. Given they pay 1/5 of what I get paid for a service, using pre-done material is fair game.
I have printed off the newsletter. Next challenge, print the bulletin.
I've also started the two services for this week. I.e. I have the template up and the correct hymns entered into one. Have to choose the hymns for the other one.

Re: Thursday Puttering
I have been thinking about this very subject recently. We give too little credit for what is being accomplished as we putter around. I know that for sure because I've been unable to do much puttering lately. Those little things pile up and suddenly there isn't just a little puttering needed, there are huge piles of messes to clean/organize. Most of the work I do I consider puttering. But I'm also aware some of these things are a separate job on their own and very important.
I wonder what some of you consider puttering? I'll fold a load of laundry and consider that just puttering around. If the task isn't physically or mentally tiring I just consider it puttering. But don't do those little things and watch what happens to your house! Right now I'm struggling to keep up with the little things.
It's been so quiet around here. Not even many desk chores, so I've done a couple that I usually wait on till the end of the year. Now those things will only need updated a little bit at the end.
Going to shake out all the throw rugs. Maybe DH will run the push broom around. He's brought in a bunch of dirt on his shoes.

Re: Thursday Puttering
Good morning everyone! I decided to post earlier than usual today. I did get almost everything done that I had assigned to last night: ATM run, side yard weeding, pay bills, update Quicken, balance checkbook, put away laundry, wind rose yarn. In addition, I did some box work and started the car cleanout. I did not put away the fabric. It won't happen tonight, I am having dinner with a friend. The items assigned to today are: call State Fair people, finish car cleanout, and email a copy of my July pay statement home.
The current state of the list: (red = today, pink = ongoing, black = later)
call State Fair people
Call re: ex foster cat
clean car
box work
bookshelf work
child support paperwork
put away fabric
update Ravelry info
library run
order Lego part
install sewing software
email July pay stub copy home
nancy: I miss my camper too. XDH got it in the divorce. My car is not capable of pulling it. One day, I would like to get a very small popup that a regular car can pull. It would only need to hold DD11 and me.

Re: Thursday Puttering
Good Morning Dear Ladies,
Working at my desk going over bills and budget and decided to drop over here for a few minutes. A bit stiff and achey today so moving slow but steady.
Got the dish washer running and will get a load of laundry going shortly. It's one of dson's days of laundry but I will get it all done before he gets home so the washer will be ready for him.
Other than that, it is still vacation time for me. Will take breaks to read one of the two books I got going. And there's lots of things to putter on around here.
Great day to all!

Re: Thursday Puttering
They have these log cabin type koa cabins to rent here @ campgrounds;
that might be some thing I could ask for to do on my bday.
make bed x
s2s x
chicken chores x
Puttering is about all that I have done around here this morning.
refilled chicken feed bucket dgd is here and helped with the 2nd round of feeding hens she brought scraps and they love the seeds out of lg. cukes. Puttering would be a wonderful goal for today. Got 7 eggs so far this morning they were all warm!
Dgd is watching a Barbie DVD in the basement this is good b/c I"m going to be doing laundry in a bit down stairs also. I've gotten a lot done puttering around the laundry room while the old washer was acting up & I'd have to be in the room while it was spinning out the last of the load.
I've spiffed up the bed.
Looking for batteries for the remote in the process decuttered one broken annoying noise making toy. They are still doing work on the road here today is supposed to be the last day of it.
T-storms in the forecast for tonight.
H. said they might have to work late Fri. night he was not happy about that.

Re: Thursday Puttering
I remember Indiana puttering quite frequently!! I desperately need to putter but can't until maybe this evening. My house is really suffering from staycation + application busyness. By tonight, I imagine I'll be really tired. I'm not doing Th. dinner tonight; we saw S and R every day this week, and I think physics friend is out of town anyway.
This day has been more staycation activities from 8:30 a.m. to 1 pm. Then, dd15 and I went to register her for school. She got a couple of the strong teachers I wanted her to get!! I'm happy about that. She didn't get one specific teacher I was hoping for one class, but the teacher she did get is probably OK. Ds had the strong teacher in this class, dd17 had the other teacher.
Now, I have 20 minutes to finish prepping for tutoring, then I'm off to tutor until 4:30. Afterward, I'll go to the groc. store so we have something to eat tonight. Dh wants me to jog with him later this afternoon, but I don't think that is possible.

Re: Thursday Puttering
A task I can do without a lot of mental thought is puttering. Decluttering a room is a chore, going through a drawer while chatting on the phone with a friend is puttering.
Had to shut the fans off in the office (they are drawing in cool air.) The office is over the front steps (I can't see down to them due to an overhang. Someone is obviously down there have a 'funny' cigarette. The smell is too strong for me now so I had to shut it off. Debating asking them to move around to the side door overhang. If it is what I'm thinking it is, they'll be mellow and I can get away with talking to them.

Re: Thursday Puttering
I know what Kathryn means about going backwards.
Visited dmom and checked meds for her - concerned in general about her memory and cognitive functions. She asked if I would take her to Walmart, then changed her mind about going - said she needed frozen meals and undershirts. I talked to dbro who says that he has a ton of frozen meals in the downstairs freezer and made her a list of what was there. There's not room in the kitchen freezer for the frozen meals because she has drib and drabs of things stored there, so it seems I probably need to do a freezer clean out. Discouraging disc w dbro as he is drawing unemployment, but when he can't draw more he thinks he will need to apply for Social Sec disability because of health issues. They are pretty much self inflicted IMHO as a result of alcoholism but real nonetheless. He has promised dmom he will take her dog to the groomer all summer and it hasn't happened either.
Need to get busy:
-phone call to city about another temple matter
-email to dfriend about notarizing the CPA license stmt for me
-email re: religious school budget
-email re: religious school tuition receipts

Re: Thursday Puttering
Hello, villagers ~
I'm having a paper-pushing day. Not sure that I'm making any progress, but it's keeping me off the streets.
I have a library group meeting tonight. I need to find a couple pieces of info before I go, but am otherwise ready. It is supposed to only last an hour -- which I'll believe when we're done.
Harriet ~ Apron Day was good. It felt really good to be home all day working at my own pace. So far I am scheduling another Apron Day for Focus areas tomorrow, but that could change if I have to follow up anything from tonight's meeting.
The "save the date" postcard order yesterday didn't need to be creative, it only needed to be quick and cheap. I found a really good deal online and lucked out with one of their standard designs -- royal blue background, small white stars in the lower left corner, and a large red & white striped star in the upper right corner. I like that for a Quilts of Valor program.
Elizabeth ~ I like your multi-color lists from yesterday and today. Clever way to see how the timing of tasks will work together.
