Good idea, Bookie. I did a bit of yardwork and worked up a little sweat here, and I imagine your temps are higher w/. higher humidity. The high today here was 83.

Got some laundry done - not all of it though. Dh was organizing things in the house so I had to work alongside him or he'd thow away who knows what. Then, I finally got him to reluctantly agree to help me with some trimming. Funny (or not so funny), he doesn't want to work on the yard. He thinks cleaning out kitchen cupboards (they're not too bad, actually) is more important than trimming back the jungle that is growing over the road and likely inconveniencing some of our neighbors. Or keeping our lawn presentable - the weeds in the ground cover are coming back.

Now, I need to collect some of our tomatoes, make a salad, and change my clothes. Small group starts at 5. I'm leaving early at 7:30 to go with my book club to a play downtown and then out for snacks and likely some wine afterward. This is a good bye shindig for one of the women who is going to Taiwan for a year with her dh, who is a prof. in Eastern something here at the big U. They are not Taiwanese; this year is related to his research.

Yes, our kids have introduced us to Simon's Cat!! Very funny - and very cute, yet! Lily definitely loves boxes - and bags, etc.

I guess my smile of the day is a picture Not-the-girlfriend posted of ds from last weekend. He's holding three puppies and 2 of them are nuzzling his face. NTG told ds that he should pose with the puppies because he'd become a chick magnet to any girl who saw the pic!

Ds is up. I am up (I had a nap.)

The errands went flawlessly (4 in 45 minutes but 20 of that is driving time) and I made a marinade for the pork chops, then went down for a nap.

When I got up I cut up the last of the watermelon and ds had a big bowl of it. Says it feels great on his throat. His cold has been a killer all week (picked it up by exhausting himself at the cottage party last weekend.)

Dinner is corn on the cob, teriyaki marinated pork chops, rice, garlic bread, Danish cucumbers, and salad. No dessert, though, all the ice cream and berries have been eating up (there were 6 packages of berries on Tuesday.)

I need to somehow get moving again. The thing I am really dreading is going to look at dd's room. The cleaning lady did some work up there yesterday but I told her to leave all the clothes in a pile instead of lugging them down here. The dog sitter will be using that room, I think.

Maybe if I start slow....
-hang delicates that are in washer and fold load in the dryer
-start a lol
-get the beach bag out and clean/purge it. We don't need all the sunscreen that has collected there.
-pay electric and water bill for dsis' house
-water plants on front porch and put away round up that I left out there...

DD's room isn't that bad. Even tho the cleaning lady doesn't do a great job on a lot of things, she worked hard up there yesterday. There are piles of clothes in one corner, the bed, dresser, etc. all actually look pretty good.

This could be last round for tonight...

-take out paper recycling
-reboot laundry, start last load
-take towels/sheets upstairs and try to make some sense of linen closet up there
-adapt instructions for dog sitter as needed and print
-walk the dogs

Last load of whites are in the dryer. It includes towels, so it will be going for a while.

Cathy: I know you have a lot of art. I'm thinking of building 'flip chart' style display for the lessor artworks that really don't deserve to be framed and up all the time. I'm thinking something about 18" x 30" with double thick photo paper. I'd put one or two paintings on each sheet. The sheets would be on rings and I could then flip them over, displaying a different painting every week or month. The whole thing would be mounted on an easel so no holes in the wall.

This is what I imagine, have you ever seen anything like that?

For the other artwork, I'm working out seasons putting up 3 or 4 sets throughout the years and will only keep a few absolute favourites up all the time.

I haven't seen anything like that, but it sounds interesting. Keep in mind the floor space that an easel can take up. I think it would be that same area as a rocking chair. You could have a small table or a plant under the easel. Mike has a really strong magnet holding up one piece on the side of the fridge that can be seen from the dining room.
