Back from ER. DH was going to go fishing today but a rock rolled under his foot going down the riprap. He fell and tore his left forearm and the backs of both hands. Also bruised his chest.

50 stitches/staples and 5 hours later he is ok. They called in xray and surgeon to fix him.

God smiled - no broken bones or other injuries.

Oh, my goodness, MT!! That sounds awful. SO GLAD it wasn't worse. So, no broken bones? Gentle ((HUGS)) for Mr. MT. . . I hope he heals quickly.

I found my morning at church satisfying, including conversations with a couple friends. Lunch at a new Japanese restaurant with S and R was likewise satisfying, as was a lovely afternoon nap.

S and R and 2 of dd17's friends, the 2 dds of our skiing friends, will be here for dinner soon. The two girls are sleeping over.

That is interesting about the light issue and sleep. Dh is on his computer until wee hours of the night, but he doesn't have any sleep problems at all. I generally don't have sleep issues either, though I have been waking up around 5 and having a hard time getting back to sleep. Maybe I should try to limit computer time at night. I'm eager for Harriet's report on the effectiveness of the different lighting options.. . . I too sleep best when the air is somewhat cool.

Have a satisfying trip, Twins!! And you too, Kathryn. I'm trying not to feel too jealous of beach vacations, Cowinkie too. . . That sounds so relaxing, so satisfying right now! :) Hmmm..... I should be feeling rejuvenated at the end of summer vacation before everything starts up again in a week or two - but instead I'm feeling somewhat depleted. I think that is normal for the end of summer. I just forget every year.

Dh and I are off on our weekly walk to WF for bread.

Oh, poor Mr. Emptynester! Yes, riprap is a dangerous surface, for sure. I will keep him in prayers for quick healing. Gratitude for no breaks (with which I'm sure Lynlee will agree!). I'm thinking if he's right-handed, he may do better dealing with this left-arm injury. .. ..

Lynlee is about a day away from her ortho appointment I think.

I tried pressing some periwinkle blossoms and crepe myrtle petals today. We'll see if they do as well as the violet and better than the kalanchoe. The crepe myrtle petals (lots) are from a single blossom from one of the plants at our high school's parking lot. A,C and N posters will smile and shake their heads at this.

Time for a countdown here to an early bedtime.

Ouch ouch ouch....poor mr mt.
I know how slippery those rocks can be.... I slipped on rocks, fell and broke my arm on top of a mountain some time back and then had to hike 2 miles back down so sweetie could take me to the ER. Someone's gonna be really sore in the next few days.
I would have taken pictures too... ;)
Hope he's feeling better soon... You too Nurse MT ;-)

Love it!

(((Mr. MT))) Hope his soreness doesn't last too long.

Second service went well. Came down for tea after service and two of my regular morning congregation were down there so we all had 'coffee hour' together.

Got home a bit late but the young man was later so all's good. He came, helped dh swap our two patio tables and then worked at taking apart the chairs. The table fit in our car without taking it apart and he got all the chair seats and two of the frames in his car and we go the other two plus the umbrella and base in our car.

He and his wife have just moved into their own home. It is on four levels and has a few very nice design features, one of which is 12' of closets in the spare bedroom and a walk-in in the master bedroom. He'll probably take the fireplace I have for sale for the bedroom which has a whole area that is currently unused.

The wife is Not-the-girlfriend's cousin and her family's cottage is next to NTG's family cottage so that's how ds knows them. I've already instructed the wife to let me know if she needs anything before buying things and I'll see I can part with mine.

Dh and I picked up a cooked chicken and were able to eat shortly after getting back home. We watched the last two episodes of Doc Martin, season 4 and now are getting ready to go.

My to-do list grew to 23 items of which 6 are left. One I can't do (can't find the paperwork involved) and two I must do while away. The two can wait until I return home and one can be done while I'm away if I choose.

Gotta pack now, the timer has gone off.

Sleep issues are so frustrating because a lack of quality sleep impacts your entire life. My oldest dd had a horrible first year of college because she couldn't get a good night's sleep. She has an auditory processing disorder and so she uses a lot of energy to stay focused and understanding what is being discussed in class, she really does best on about nine hours sleep a night and dorm life is not conducive to that at all. She had one roommate who stayed up talking on the phone and watching tv all night long. I have early rising insomnia. I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat but I just tend not to stay asleep . I wake up about 2 and then finally get back to sleep about the time I am supposed to be getting up. Good luck with every thing you are trying. I had sinus surgery and that seemed to help with my breathing at night (I can now breathe through my nose) :)

I did have a "satisfying sunday". Mowed and trimmed one length of hedge and then cleaned all the outsides of the windows. I also got rid of a few more big pieces of clutter, my neighbor took them.
