Round Robin Monday

[OKay]

My stomach "bug" is gone. Hopefully no one else gets it. I'm thankful it only lasted 24 hours.

My focus declutter & deep clean area this week are the closets. Today I made progress in hall closet and also LO closet. The hall closet already had one shelf that is devoted to a variety of chargers for battery operated devices. Today I moved cables to enable ISP electronics to be housed in same closet shelf. This project is on hold because I need a couple holes to be drilled in wooden shelves so I can feed the cable through them. When DH gets a break, I'll ask him to do it.

DH has been going non-stop most all the day. MPB equipment has been doing its typical "I'm too hot so I think I will quit working" antics. I'll be glad when the temps drop away from the triple digits so the equipment won't be so stressed from the heat. I'm sure the customers would appreciate it too!

Oh, dear, that does sound confusing with the schedule for dd15, Harriet. I hope things get straightened out quickly. It sounds like you have block scheduling. Do you need to do anything or will the school counselors take care of it for you? It also sounds like your math progression has 2 classes switched from ours. I've noticed this in other areas of the country as well. Here, the upper math track has kids taking geometry their freshman year and Alg. II their sophomore. I don't know why. My older two generally found geom. a harder class than alg. II, and dh who has followed the math curriculum more closely than I have, has concurred. I guess that also depends on where your strengths are.

I have jogged with dh, a bit slower than usual b/c of the heat. I was SO sweaty by the end. Still, it was good to do it. Dinner has been made and hastily consumed. Ds is out and dd15 is at drumline. Dd17 took her, and a friend will bring her home. Ds has asked to meet with me tomorrow morning "to get things done." He needs to work on packing, see what he needs to buy, go shopping, and work on tidying his bedroom. We also need to make sure all University bills are paid. Tuition is already paid, thanks to a program in which we pre-bought 4 years tuition at any state U when ds was in 8th grade. However, we still need to purchase a meal plan and figure out dorm costs so I can put that $$ into ds' account. That is our agreement, even though he's in an apt and not a dorm this year. The apt. will actually be a little cheaper than the dorms.

Off to tend to laundry.

Mr. MT is getting better. Says his arm (the biggest wound) aches a bit and his hands sting like when they washed them out. Most pain is coming from bruised ribs that hurt when he coughs or blows his nose.

I washed most of the blood out of his clothes using peroxide and Maximo (a Mexican soap). Washed in a bucket and rinsed in the bathhouse. Still have to hang them up but back gave out.

Temps are in the 90's all week so we are trying to keep cool and relaxed. Tomorrow is groceries and a visit with the surgeon to check on Mr. MT.

Dd14 and I dashed out and fast-fast bought 3 pairs of jeans on sale. Came home and threw them in the wash. LOL So organized. Frustrated by a man who came up beside/behind me at the register as next in line, and suggested that it would be easy for someone to steal my credit card. I had placed it on the jeans as I stood there, having already said my pleasantries to the clerk, so the only way would be to reach around me, defying the clerk, and make a run for the door. He kept insisting that I should thank him for not stealing my card. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Great day.

Picked up my uncle (age 100.9) and took him to lunch at our favourite diner here. Our regular server was at work so we caught up with her news (we have had her for about 13 years now and she remembers us each year.)

Went for a long drive out to the beach where dh proposed 30 years ago (almost exactly, since it was late August or early September - we can't recall exactly and I can't go back to travelogs because I wasn't writing them then.)

Came back in, dropped off unc, checked in to the hotel, had a nap (we were up at 5 this morning after in bed at 11:40 last night), drove to my cousin's for a wonderful dinner. She and I are so much alike that dh was laughing away at all the connections. I didn't spend time with her while growing up because she was 7 years older than me and when we were little that was a HUGE age difference. Now it is nothing. Her younger brother is my age so he and I were close, despite my living so very far away (we moved to Ontario when I was almost 2.)

Picked up milk and chocolate at a grocery store on the way back and had milk before bed. I save some for my tea in the morning. Our room rate unexpectedly includes breakfast so I'll just have to manage a breakfast in our room for Wednesday and Thursday. Here we don't have a fridge, so it is nice that I just have to keep a small amount of milk cold, not a whole quart.

Off to do my physio and then to bed.

I'm reading away this evening and came to MT's post. I didn't know what happend to Mr. MT because I was without a computer yesterday and part of today. Our power went out yesterday and when it finally came back on hours later, there was a terrific bang and we lost the power source to the computer. Got hold of "the guy" and took the CPU in to him and he told us we were extremely lucky that the motherboard wasn't blown out. Sure didn't need that on top of the hotrod being in an accident this month and some extensive dental work for Mr. Guy. I hope that is all there is for now.

Glad Mr. MT is doing better.

We are still drowning in smoke from the Yosemite fire (Rim Fire) and it looks like it may go on now for a long time. They don't seem to be able to get a handle on it. Out eyes and throats are burning and it isn't doing anyone any good. We pray for some relief.

Nice to know Twins is relaxing on a beach somewhere, & that the Ks from Canada took a romantic stroll down a sandy memory lane.

((MT & Mr MT)) -- wounds, pain & blood are NOT things we want you to experience! I'm a few days behind on posts so don't know what happened but will pray for a quick recovery for Mr MT.

Norma, I hope the fire is put out soon (& that it will rain heavily), & that you get relief from the smoke soon. Will add my prayers to yours.

I'm still waaaay waaaay behind on posts so I don't know what is going on with anyone... but yes, Harriet, it IS kinda nice to drive by school and think, "Ha ha ha... I don't have to be there. I can go to the little deli that is only open for lunch... I can sleep late... I can stay up late... I can sit around at music festivals all weekend and not even THINK about grading papers..."
Yes. Life is good.
The only thing that would be necessary to make my life just about perfect right now would be for my dmom to be healthier and more independent. And I just keep hoping and praying that will happen, in time.

And of course, as stated in J&C before, I need my dcousin to be cancer-free before life could be perfect.
