Tuesday timing

My timing thing this week is to continue to work on 2 stories, but they're not due until Oct. 18th. But I'm trying to finish them early.

I'm also needing to re-read writer's guidelines for a couple of other publications, to get in by their deadlines, too. I'd like to get them in early.

I have books I need to get read, too, especially a friend's book. I'm so pokey at it because I'm busy, too.

Also, I have an afghan I'm making for dgd, which needs to get done!

It's foggy here this morning. I still can't believe it's October, but with the fog and DH is going to build another fire, I believe it.

Good morning! My timing, of course, is off – compared to the rest of the world. SOOO thankful to have a day to myself. DH & ds are off to Atlanta to see the Braves play, and I don’t think ddil is going to need me today – although I won’t be surprised if she does call for an hour or so’s relief, LOL.
After tomorrow, however, the week is going to fill up pretty quickly:
THUR – pictures at church for church directory, dgs spends the night
FRI – high school football game
SAT – dgs spends the night
SUN – church
MON – errands/grocery shopping/etc
WED – leave for three-day festival
SAT – college football (in OPPOSITE direction of festival! )
--- and duncle thinks I should be taking dmom out to eat or go shopping or something more often. * sheesh *

Once there was a visitor in Ireland and asked how to get to Dublin.
The reply came - If I was wanting to go to Dublin I wouldn't start from here.

Kathryn, you are making such wonderful progress w/your preparations for moving. You are so inspiring.

Seasons here in Alabama are somewhere in between what Kathryn and Sunny described, Lynlee. I’m just north of Sunny, and south of Twins & Harriet. We really don’t usually have any really bitterly cold weather until sometimes late December… and by March, we start feeling some hints of spring. Then, like March 2, it’s summer. Nah… I’m teasing, but Twins & Harriet probably know what I’m talking about. We’ll be enjoying those wonderful, beautiful breezy spring days, back in short sleeves but not sweating… and then BAM. Suddenly the humidity is at 90% and the temperature is at 90 degrees and we’re saying, “We just didn’t HAVE any spring, did we?” And that lasts… and lasts… until finally – just this week, actually – we realize it’s COOL outside – too cool for flip-flops, I just realized two nights ago – and we start saying, “Ohhhh… it feels so NICE out here.” And this will last until sometime in November/December when we’ll have to bring out the heavier coats. Of course, Kathryn is probably ROFLOL at my suggestion of heavy coats and bitterly cold days. I cannot even imagine what winter is like that far north.

Looks like rain here, too, Nancy. I guess I am skipping my walk, b/c I just got a message that yearbooks are in at school. So I have to go pick up mine and visit with everyone, and that will take some time. I am so excited. I have always loved to get the new yearbook. (I was not a sponsor of the yearbook staff – newspaper was totally separate – but I have just always been one who couldn’t wait to see it every year. DH & DS are the same way. Between our parents and dbil, we have issues from our high school from 59, 60, 61, and 64-present. Don’t know why dmom’s set is incomplete.) This will be our last one, though, b/c we won’t continue to buy now that we have no one in school or working there.

Busy w/emails here too, helia! Back and forth w/dmom’s friend… who has very cautiously suggested (to me) grief counseling – which I thought was a wonderful idea. May mention it to dmom… or have the friend mention it. Dfriend is a widow herself, very happily remarried now, but she has definitely been down this road dmom is walking.

Oh – and btw – Season 3 of Downton Abbey could not POSSIBLY have ended on a worse, more depressing note! I may not allow dmom to watch the final episode. I CANNOT STAND IT – to wait until January to see how they intend to fix this. Phooey.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Wrote a post and then it got lost when I hit submit so will try it again. I’m writing in Word and will copy and paste.

Our weather is beautiful with clear blue skies, not a cloud in sight, gentle breezes and temperatures in the 80’s. Dbrother and I sat on the porch for awhile just enjoying it.

Went with Dson-22 to the doctors yesterday. They always like Mom to go for support and----the paperwork. Anyway he has a sinus/ear infection and the shot and anti-biotics have him feeling better.

Worked on laundry yesterday and was very tired by the end of the day. DH bought burgers so I didn’t have to cook. I’m cooking today and cleaning the kitchen.

Am keeping a “pain journal” now. This morning I was achey and stiff for 3 hours before I felt better. Some days I’m fine with lots of energy. Am keeping track of what I eat too, so maybe I’ll find a connection that will help me have better days and more energy. Think often of my Dmom who battled arthritis for decades.

Okay, it looks like “baby Veronica” is with her adoptive parents. I figured it would end this way but hope her Oklahoma family is allowed to be part of her life somehow.

Going to eat some lunch and then see what other adventures I can find.

Home again after a meeting w insurance guy. Made a "pull a number out of the air" decision to increase today our coverage for building contents - we are grossly uninsured and at least now I can sleep until the exec committee meets again.

Home again. Wheel sale went well. Had lunch at the chipwagon so ds could say goodbye to the proprietor and her mom (who used to run it.) Then we walked him to city hall so he could make changes to his license and health coverage. Unfortunately, he didn't have the right ID with him so that didn't go well and he'll have to go back. Of course, that's why I insisted we start the process today and not on Thursday when he'll be back downtown.

I dropped him at work, picked up dh again and then we ran two errands.

The 3 tires guy is on his way here now to pick them up. That's a total for $290 for the day. Woot! (Done!!!!)

I'm going to take a break of a few days posting things for sale. I think music boxes are next. They are more of a specialty item so will be trickier to sell quickly.

Hello from Yankton, SD. I'm sitting here beside the beautiful Missouri. They had rain just before we arrived so everything is lush and green. I think DH has a place to fish with NO ROCKS. We will be here 5 days.

Arrived home from C's funeral in time to be here when LO got off the school bus. DH was home and waiting for him in case I didn't make it back in time.

C's funeral was small. They said to expect 50-70 family members for lunch, but there was only about 30. Other than the funeral workers and family there was about 10 people in attendance. I'm glad I made myself go to support L. I got there early so spent the extra time with hands in dish water. I washed about 90% of the dirty dishes from the funeral meal.

I made LO five crackers with chicken salad for his after school snack. It is one of his favorites.

Supper is prep'd and ready to serve when DH arrives home.

DH is checking MPB automatic changer before we eat. He is keeping an extra close check on it because the changer works for a while…..then stops giving change for no reason we can find. It is frustrating to not be able to find a solution that "sticks" AND it is embarrassing the equipment keeps taking customers money and not return proper change.

After breakfast and posting, I crawled into bed because of pain, being so tired, and wanted to relax and just "think". I accidentally slept a bit, but for a short time, did my s2s finally, yoga stretches and worked on the story for 40 minutes. I have 170 words to go, feel good about the story, enjoyed it, but then....

I ate a PB chocolate peanut protein bar followed by an ice cream bar, which is stupid because I CAN'T have ice cream because of being lactose intolerant. Last night, I ate these very 2 snacks in the evening and today, about 11:50 a.m., I do it again! I got sick, had to take pills for it, rested in the recliner, watched a wonderful old David O. Selznik movie starring Joseph Cotten (sp) and Ginger Rodgers. ♥ ♥ It was great. I then felt better, the mail came with a magazine, a pen pal letter, and wonderful beautiful card from DD.

The fog went to rain, then sun, and back and forth to pouring downpours of rain and then sun breaks. It's nuts.

One cute thing a pen pal wrote me is so sweet. Her adult Dson is in CA now, on a new job, his Dwife, my pal's DDil, stayed behind to close up loose ends and join her DH in CA later. She took my pen pal and her DH out to a good-bye dinner. My pen pal lives in cold snowy MN. She gave her DDil a snow globe to have in CA, when they look out at the sunshine, they can look at the glove, to remember them freezing at home. It's a cute/perfect idea!

Dgd and I baked up some apple sauce bread this afternoon. It is threatening to rain again I peeled eggs to devil.

Good afternoon everyone! Yesterday, I did get my State Fair items back and met with my homeowner's insurance agent. I found out why they wanted to see me: XDH had never removed my name from his insurance policy! (I doubt it was deliberate - I handled all insurance matters in the family, it is unlikely he ever gave it a thought other than to pay the bill). We got that straightened out, and she found a discount for me because my front door and window have security bars. Also, and surprising to me, I get a discount for having a physics PhD. Of course, that means that I must dig up my diploma and send her a copy. I have other homework from the agent as well.

Last night, I did more of FlyLady's cleaning list and weekly home blessing, there is still more to go. I moved part of the downed tree. It is going to take many months to get the whole thing out - my trash can is not big enough! I updated Quicken, then stayed up too late playing Scrabble. I started changing out to the new cat food, but forgot my own lunch this morning!

Tonight is Girls' Night Out with DD11, but there is much homework to be done, and due tomorrow. I still need to download and print my bank statement and write a bio for the animal org board elections. I really need to work on my roof, too.

My timing issue is that I must remember to pick up DD in about 20 minutes.
