Conga Line Friday

Post by Harriet »

Strap on your favorite fruit headdress (and maybe a colorful apron ;) ), start up some music, and hop in the traditional conga line. Even though some of your day may be payroll, errands or desk day duties, join your village friends for some additional sweeping, swaying, swishing through your house. Cleaning and clearing a lovely path as we go, all together now… …

Have the washer keeping the beat for me this morning. Apron is the red gingham full with white rickrack!

Noticing Lilac is here and wondered if she might start a thread before me. Lilac, have you heard a report on all the new renovations your houseguest went home to find? I think that would be wonderful. A trip away, and you come back to find your dh has created a whole new bedroom - so nice.

Why I'm here early on Conga morning:

Having frustration here as a recent AVG install somehow resulted in a different opening page for me with Google Chrome. Now, instead of seeing just my 8 most-visited pages come up as little miniatures of the pages (which is very convenient), that's now only half the screen. The top half is the google image. Sigh. And today is a special day for them (happy for them, wish them well), so it's in the form of what must be a very complicated animated game, and it's actually making it very slow going for me, waiting on any other destination. Sigh. Anyone know how to nicely evict the Google image/game from my initial GC page? I'm here on Internet Explorer for the first time in a long time. Maybe I need to just give up and play the game to get it to stop slowing down my travels? I didnt' really think of doing that - wasn't game-ready in early a.m. (I closed the page and gave up - there is no x to click to stop it)

Harriet, the same happened for me after I had malware and installed AdAware to get rid of it. In the top right corner is an icon with three horizontal lines, clicking on that gets you a menu. Click on settings and you get some startup options.

IIRC, I removed AdAware as my search engine and that helped get rid of the start-up screen being different.

I'm up. I've just baked biscuits (noted the pot of jam in the fridge my house guest brought earlier this month and realized we should eat it up.)

Dd has found that sulphur (garlic, onions, eggs) makes her really gassy and uncomfortable. She's tried all kinds of diet changes and been to doctor's repeatedly (this is more than normal gas) and got really ill on a couple of elimination diets (because she was subbing in eggs for lack of dairy or to have instead of wheat at breakfast.) My biscuits don't have eggs so I thought it would be nice to have something she could eat without worry. This isn't a food allergy so she still has eggs cooked into things when she can't avoid it but she does avoid those items as much as she can.

Today will be a scattered day. Getting ds confident he's ready (or is it get Mom confident he's ready?) and go through the house with dd noting what I need to pack up for her move at the end of next month. We are baking cookies today for the party tonight and I'm also bringing a veggie platter, fruit tray and possibly sausage rolls. Tonight is ds's going away party from his friends (which is why dd is visiting.)

I am going to conga down to meet with rabbi, and back again to finish up straightening for cleaning lady. (She is coming around 11) I am getting body work today at 1:30 I think. I'm somewhat on track for a.m. routine.

Harriet, I have GC set open a specific set of pages when I open - email, Shes, google calendar, etc. I used the square icon in the upper right corner and pull down the menu to settings, then choose the pages to open on start up. I don't know if you would have any luck with that, or whether whatever AVG did would override those choices?

Frustrating evening, but dh didn't get slapped around here at least - and he does have padding as well. Kathryn, had forgotten about the ice cream w pecan pie - I only remembered Ken's fascination with onion rings.

I do need to put on that Conga hat and move it, move it, move it! Oh, that's a different song...........

Spent a good part of yesterday with DS-R's family. The sheriff's department had their annual awards ceremony. DDIL was the honored recipient of the Andrew P Meloni award given to 1 sheriff a year who exemplifies a giving nature. They listed all the things that DDIL has done and the reasons she was presented with this. APM was the Sheriff for our county for a good many years and was and is very well liked. He came over to our table before the festivities started and announced what a wonderful girl DDIL -totally concur! Gave her a hug & told her to bring dgs8 up with her when she came forward. So very proud of her. Our local favorite newscaster was the MC so that was an added bonus. :D DDIL always has time for others and does a lot for the local Hospice, Cancer things, etc, etc, etc. Plus she's just a wonderful person. There, have I bragged enough?

Started wondering when different things happened early this morning so have spent lots of time looking up verifications of events (and wrote them down). Things like: when did we sell our house? when did we buy RV?

Took me way too long to get this older computer up and running so I could come here. Now that it's 9o'clock, time to dress and get going. Have a good one!

Good Morning all. Raining here on the Big Mo. Plus we are under trees so we have "tree rain" (dripping leaves) for quite a while after the rain stops.

We will probably go out in the truck and explore sometime today. There is a Dakota Museum to see and probably a stop at WallyWorld.

I had that problem with google chrome too Harriet, I shut down my computer to get it working again.
I am confused about resetting home page, and the things that chrome brings up. Also that the US govt is major spy agent of non US folk who use it - its time I got a new browser. IE and Microsoft are in cahoots too.
Tried resetting at three lines but confusion still reigns.

For my settings to be forget where I have been, it remembers a lot.

i should have been in bed long ago. goodnight.

Well, have dishes half done. Letting the other half soak for a few minutes. Been puttering all morning.

Dh took double Lasix yesterday & was still up 6# for last few days this morning. So he took the 'fluid enhancer pill" as directed by cardiologist. So far he's been in here 4 times! :o How many mg does Mr. MT take, MT, of Lasix? They doubled his dose a couple weeks ago & he was told to take a double dose of that which he did yesterday. So we'll see if this works. Bothers me some that the Dr detected he now has fluid in the right lung, not bad, but there.

We had decided to go to Lancaster to Sight & Sound on the way to FL & then discovered the show we want to see will be suspended by the then. So! We decided we'd simply take a weekend and go -but the only weekend is Oct. 11th. Well, good! Except dh remembered we have an appointment on the 11th to have our pictures taken for church. Will see when the makeup day is for that. So still can't make reservations. Barring that dh has said he'd like to go through Charlotte on the way instead. Only a possibility right now. Heads up Harriet -if we go that way told dh we had to stop and at least say hi and have lunch, breakfast or something. Would love to see dd15 again too.

****YAWN****** I am a slug. On purpose. I've been up for over 4 hours and have done very little. This is a no school day for LO so I'm not following my schedule.

Yesterday meeting with LO teacher resulted in a great report. She had nothing but good things to say about him. We received report of two separate testing and LO is way above the baseline and has no indicators of problem areas. His speech teacher said he is making good progress also.

Not sure what we will get into today. There is ALWAYS a slew of things that need to be done, but we might ignore everything that can be and just try to imitate a rock. :)

Those are lovely rocks at your house, Okay. :D

Guess I'll see if I can keep this computer on and safely remove the external mouse. Perhaps that way I can check back in here from time to time.
