Dh is doing a massive upload that is taking many, many, days. As a result, the internet is painfully slow for me.

It will be a long day, again, today. He figures he'll be done by tomorrow night.

Good morning, villagers ~
The beginning of October. :o I'm not ready for autumn yet, but last weekend I saw Christmas items in the dollar store.

As a matter of fact, they were selling Halloween candy in August -- what's up with that?! I know lots of people plan ahead, but I'm not ready for that much anticipation.

Sewing group meeting tonight. I have my teaching samples in a usable state, though if I get some extra time today I'll tweak them a little more.

I have an eye doctor appointment in a couple of hours, which will take a chunk of time out of the day.

As always, there are reports and filing to do to get ready for the meeting. As much as I'm not ready for the year to be over, I must admit that I am very much looking forward to next year when my administrative duties for this group will take a lot less time.

Not nearly enough sleep last night, and no time to take a nap. Coffee is good, coffee is our friend. ;)

Finally got through to ds's Ultimate Oz website (this is the company that is handling his arrival in Sydney with 7 days of activities and training and a chance to get to meet others doing the same things he is doing.) I had added his permanent Australian address to our online address book and then checked out how the mail forwarding works. Turns out they open, scan and email him the mail they receive so I may as well save the $1.85 postage and just scan any cards or letters I want to write him and email those myself!

When his aunts ask for his contact info, I'll let them know how it works.

I'm done my breakfast now so should get going. It is 10:30 so I probably should have got going sooner. I have several church services to write.

Good Morning!

I've been mostly on target this morning with my timeslots. Distracted a little with former coworkers frustration of being put on furlough.....after they just went through the summer having to take 1 day a week off work unpaid. ignore the following......I'm ranting.... REally? How in the world does the government expect to retain the highly qualified workforce. Only the workers who can't get a job somewhere else will stay and put up with this total disregard for them. It is very emotional to have the responsibility to do a job, then told you can not do it. They are not allowed to volunteer their time......but are still held responsible for getting the work done. Workload is not reduced but hours are cut. And now this.... I went through this when the goverment shut down before. I was considered essential and worked when everyone else was sent home. It is no fun and totally unfair to the workforce. stepping off soap box.

Our state has set up new tax website effective today. I've created a new account as per instructions it all seems to be working.

DH worked most of the night at MPB. He came home absolutely exhausted for a few hours of sleep. He is back at it this morning. I've jotted down several things to discuss with him once the repairs are finished. He doesn't need the distraction and these items can wait a few more hours.

Hello. I worked long hours on accounting chores last evening. Gal at the receiving end says everything was received but apparently not looked at yet  and we have an electronic file set up. That was the point of all the work I did last evening, so they would look at it and see if it's workable.....

And I have a lot more of this type of work to do today. I have stopped work on all that to close out the month, submit payroll taxes. Even with a very small payroll in September, it all still needs done, the numbers are just smaller.

Y'all need to go back and see Cowinkie's link from last night. Very interesting. I ran up my numbers of what I'm worth for my duties of Laundry Maid, Scullery Maid, Housekeeper, Cook (of a modest house, we're not royalty!), Valet, Chamber Maid, Parlour Maid, House Maid, Between Maid and I should be making between $18,600 and $21,900 - and this is not adjusted for inflation! Course, we're not a huge manor house nor an estate, and we do have all the modern conveniences...so I guess some could be taken off for that!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! I wish some of those that have quit coming during the years would come on back to just say hi.

Good morning!
The lord of the house is grumbling again this morning. Awakened before he wanted to be b/c the young master & miss are bringing little lord to stay with us for awhile. I can't get out of the Downton Abbey talk now that y'all got me started... ;)
It seems the gardeners will be busy, along w/the nurse/nanny.

Dh wants to do some trimming on shrubs, and ds/ddil have to take dog to the boarders. So we're babysitting a little one who may be fussy from shots this morning.
Doctor seemed quite happy with everything except said they need to be weaning him off his bottle... and b/c of his excema -- no soap except in groin area. Only wash his hair once a week. Expect it to get worse in colder weather.
Doctor did not seem concerned about his vocabulary -- which ds/ddil reported to be "about 5 words, WHEN HE WANTS TO say them."
DS also said they are going to get the oil changed in dmom's truck. * Oooh -- and dmom sideswiped one of those yellow posts you see at drive throughs -- and is complaining about the length of the truck bed. I'm thinking this might be a good sign for ds. ;)

Bad sign for ds -- he simply MUST start taking dgs out to visit dmom more. Dgs just cried and cried when I tried to get him to sit w/dmom last night, like he was scared of her. I know that made her sad, but she acted okay about it. Said she was going to have to put her make up on before dgs visited next time.
Tomorrow is another day.

More & more, Harriet, I'm using your statement from a few days ago:
why she couldn't EVER wait until she FELT like it to start working. I had to point out the obvious - by that time, her weekend would be gone.
I've decided I need to post that where I can see it to go along with the IGAD (I've got all day) syndrome -or all week, or month, or year! Yeah, I can see where these go very well together! :D Do find myself getting 'at it' even when I have the donwannas. Thank dd15 for me.

I've had to fire the laundry maid -went up after an hour and she still had not even begun to dry my clothes. No others were available at that time so I'm waiting. Will give her one more chance.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

sidetracking warning!

Speaking of servants. DGD2 has been wearing some amazing clothes the last few weeks (her clothes are always wonderful, but suddenly they took on a even more amazing look). When I started seeing them in the pictures of DGS2 that DDIL sends us frequently, I wondered if DDIL had hired a seamstress to create the clothes. Most of them are monogrammed in someway or another. DDIL said the mothers of DGD2 friends are asking....WHERE are you getting these clothes? DDIL hasn't given her new shopping place away (so the local mothers won't copy her) but she did tell me. I kinda forgot about it until I started thinking .....eeeks! We have 2 new babies being born in the family and I have not get them a gift yet. I typically don't like to shop for clothes but WOW even I'm being drawn in.....If you need a Christmas or birthday gift for a young one.....check out lollywollydoddle

Lucylee I like how your mom made light of the fussy baby. Very classy response!

I, too, am still in Downton Abbey mode, although the servants all appear to be on furlough so I'm just sitting here, doing very little. (Did you all like the way I merged yesterday and today's work-related issues?!)

I am trying to reduce distractions and my business card design window was open so I finished that with dh's help. It is absolutely gorgeous (if I do say so myself) but when we went to pay for it, the only address was US. Somehow, I'd got dumped into the St. apples .com address instead of the .ca address. Went to rebuild the card in the .ca tool and quickly discovered the template I wanted was not offered. So we went back to the US site and finished off the order with delivery to Ogdensburg UPS store. It will add 5% to the price (exchange rate) and $10 for bridge toll and pick up fee, plus the gas for the extra 60 miles of driving, but it is well worth it for the great looking cards. (They are absolutely gorgeous, if I, again, say so!)

So now that you know I'm quite chuffed about the business cards, I need to get going on important things like writing a sermon and service. For this week I can help myself to something off the internet and probably will but first I need to understand the reading, which is gobbledygook to me right now.
