Well, all the business September work is done. I'm on to this big project now to try to make some progress with all that. This will be a long afternoon.

Kathryn, I agree about what you said re: volunteering. We run into that at our church. Most of our committee members work full time. Those of us who don't or who have a more flexible schedule are usually the ones that do most of the work. Besides that, our committee chairperson keeps picking gals who are already part of another ministry in the church, and they are stretched thin. I don't know why she does this. I have a committee meeting tonight. My minutes are done so I'll have to check on them and print them out.

Yes, adorable little clothes!

I've been lollygagging since I got home from lunch. Very enjoyable to have lunch w coworker and catch up; we went to Chili's and I had a grilled chicken salad w just a little dressing and a little of the cheese on the side.

I didn't finish the last round so I need to roll:
-make the bed
-reboot laundry
-straighten MBR
-added: print out notices to employees for ACA
-F/S for meeting (treasurer seems to be AOL)

Sorry for the confusion. It is DDIL (not DD) that orders those clothes for their daughter (DGD2). Our son and daughter each has a daughter that are 2 years old. DDIL is a devoted mother. She was in the third phase of due diligence for opening a new business. Everything looked good and full steam ahead...... but just last week DDIL decided to put everything on hold. When it came down to time to hiring a full time Nanny.....DDIL decided that she doesn't want to give up the time with her young children.

MPB is back in business!! Lunch has been enjoyed and DH is home having a well deserved nap.

Walked one mile w/dgs in stroller. He fell asleep and we've just been sitting in the carport breezeway ever since. He needed a nap. I think he got 4 shots today! Nothing in the world so sweet as a sleeping baby. Ddil called -- lots of apologies for running late, for making last minute request, etc etc. I told her we were fine.

I am glad I did not go w/dmom to look at tombstones, however!

I also must say (admit) that I do no committee work, social activities, or even church work except for council sec. duties. I feel really bad about not being more involved at church -- we don't even go to Sunday School -- but until dh wants to get a little more active, it is really difficult for me. So I have prayed about it and I'm waiting on His guidance.

Well, my PLAN got usurped by reality. I was at the school for 4 hours; it took that long. Also, after I sewed the tag back in the jacket, I sewed a missing button on the front -- and I sewed it a tad too low, so the jacket doesn't lie flat. I brought it home for dd15 to correct for me.

Thank you for positive thoughts my way, Harriet. And thank you for commiserating re: dd15 yesterday. You too Sunny and others I've forgotten.

One thing I have learned about myself during my time at home is that I don't like doing the same thing over and over again; I get bored. I like being involved in a variety of activities, as you can probably tell here. I also enjoy different kinds of people! Maybe I've always been like this. . . One example - as a teen, my reading interests were (and still are!) somewhat eclectic with a strong love of classics - Dickens (my age 15 obsession) and later the more romantic stories of Jane Austen, etc. right alongside a strong love of sci. fi. and fantasy - Tolkien (young teen), Frank Herbert, Ursula LeGuin, Asimov. That is just the way I am!

Interesting discussions here about volunteering/working payroll. It is different for everybody; I know women who make difference decisions for different (all good) reasons. Each family is different too. I do regret a little not keeping my professional foot in the door better; with my kind of work, it would have been easy to work very part-time (teach 1 hour 3x/week + 1 office hour) while also raising the kids at home. In fact, I did do this until I was pg with dd15 - with a 3yo and a 2yo at home. Dh traveled so much back then too; it just wasn't worth it to me - but I could have come back to it a little earlier than I did.

Back to real life: I need to go take care of a LOL. Then, I'll set up spreadsheet with child care worker hours to email to church accountant so they can get paid. I need to email orchestra mom b/c I moved some uniforms that were hanging on the rack into the closets - w/out tags. The band director wants the racks empty by Friday. I forgot that the orchestra is doing fittings Th - F., so they could use the racks on Thursday - but not on Friday. I don't know if I did her a favor or just made her task harder. I know which tagless items I put where. Many dresses showed up today from the repair place, so maybe that takes care of the missing dresses.

I reserved a dress for dd15 b/c there are few in the smallest sizes. She needs a size 2 - and not too long. I hung it with the tagless dresses b/c I had already closed the other uniform room (marching uniforms) where i was storing the band's reserved uniforms. I may need to go back later this week and move it in with the rest of the reserved uniforms.

Some of the computer work I can do in the cafe during dd15's oboe lesson at 4:30. I'll be leaving in 30 minutes for that. . .

Lunch is done dgd got the eggs and fed the hens before our walk. We made yummy cupcakes this morning too.

I feel I probably SHOULD be doing more volunteer/community/church work -- but right now, I feel I'm just too obligated w/dgs, dmom, dmil... * sheesh *

He hates it really, for me to "help" him, b/c I see sooo much else that needs doing.
Our shrubs are really beyond our capacity to care for them... getting entirely too large. I want to hire someone to do hard pruning of them, but he does not want to put out the $$.
Vinyl and concrete needs power washing.
Door to our detatched garage needs painting.
Patio furniture needs painting.

Dcousin-in-law mentioned at the ballgame that she had NEVER seen my house.
She and dcousin have been together probably 10 years.
The last time I had family gathering here was probably when ds graduated high school (2002).
Now... w/the loss of dgparents' home, I'm sure it will fall my lot to host something, sometime... and EEEEEEEEKKKK!!!
Looking around at all this STUFF that needs doing -- inside is just as bad -- I'm thinking NO WAY can I have duncle up here w/time to look around and criticize. * sheesh *
AND -- just as much -- NO WAY can I get dh busy on this stuff (even to the point of allowing me to hire someone to get busy on this stuff) until he is good and ready.

I won't think about that anymore today.

(OTOH -- I would not mind the ladies of the family visiting at any time, except that they would make fun of us if they opened the refrigerator or cabinets, b/c people who cook very little do not tend to stock the larder very well.)

We are 52 & 62 years old. We should not live like teenagers in a dorm.
OTOH -- if we want to live this way, we should be old enough to do as we please, shouldn't we?
And I don't mind too much, except when the prospect of CRITICAL visitors becomes a possibility.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Spent yesterday doing laundry and mending. I have a sheet for our bed that I keep mending because king-size sheets are expensive. So it is slowly turning into a patchwork quilt.

today I cooked meals for two days and cleaned the kitchen while I cooked.

Will have to look for insurance for DH. They are keeping his present plan after the federal govt said they were going to cancel it. However they have changed the earning limits on it so that you have be below poverty level to qualify. So they are kicking people off of it.

Going to browse what's out there.

Hi everyone! Today was time sheet day, and I have more hours at payroll. Not full, but significant improvement. Last night, I did not get much done, I goofed off and read a book mostly. What I did get done: decobwebbed in the current zone, cleaned under cushions, bills and balancing of checkbook, and started sewing on a cat collar. Today, I have been making a list of people to invite to the Halloween party and will send and print invitations tomorrow. I am letting FlyLady do all my household management planning, which is particularly useful during my big party month!

Some good news: I have arranged the spay/neuter of the two cats that have been trapped AND the person who wanted only one has decided to take them both! Tonight, I will be taking them to the appropriate place to be dealt with! It is Girls' Night Out, but in the past DD11 has wanted to take care of kittens on GNO. I hope she does not have homework, because the schedule does not have much slack in it. I have left room for dinner!

I have some DPCs to take care of: doctor and insurance. Tonight, after DD has gone, I must get the trash out and I need to put part of the downed yucca in it. I also must remember to pick up DD from band practice.
