Focus and Reality Monday

Post by Twins' Mom »

Always remember, your focus determines your reality.

Qui-Gon to Anakin, Star Wars Episode I
I saved this quote several years ago from this online article: http://zenhabits.net/the-magical-power-of-focus/

Maybe you'll like it as much as I do!
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Good morning, villagers ~
I thought I was going to sleep late today, but DH forgot to turn off his alarm. Not a problem, though, as there are a lot of things to catch up after being away.

So far ~
* Tossed the first load of laundry in the washer as soon as I came downstairs, by now it's ready to be flipped to the dryer.
* Figured out the agenda for tomorrow night's sewing group board meeting, typed it up and sent it out.
* Made my own coffee in my own pot, what a luxury. :)
* Trying to catch up on Emails. Nice coincidence that most of them are junk mail that need no reply and are easy to delete.

Today's 6x6:
* Finish unloading the car
* Decide whether to DPC to ask why the house insurance premium went up so much, or just pay the stupid thing because there probably isn't anything we can do about it anyway
* Go to post office
* Reports, reports, reports
* Press releases for upcoming events
* Take a nap 8-)

need more coffee ....

Good Morning!

Twins - Thanks for the start and link. Very good one!

I've been following time slots for the past 4 hours. Not perfectly but I'm pleased with good effort made in each slot.

We have a slow rain happening this morning. Not much but every drop is welcomed.

LO spent extra time "fixing" his hair this morning. (It is less than 1" long). We walked in the light rain down the driveway to catch the bus and LO became concerned the rain was going to ruin his hair. :lol: This concern is new, and I find it humorous when compared to yesterday. His hair was sweaty from running and then he took multiple tumbles and rolled in the roping arena (dirt) several times.....and he didn't care what he (or his hair) looked like.

I'm awake. And out of bed. I got out of bed at 10:10 and am still not s2s nor have I had breakfast, just tea.

I'm exhausted and have little voice today. But I had already planned a PJ day as our musician calls them. In fact, I will get dressed in a bit, but no rush.

Ds called and left a message on our house phone while we were out last night and then ended up IMing with dh (we don't have a data package for our smart phones but we do have access to our friends' internet when we are there so knew from email ds was looking to chat.) He's off to Surf Camp next - additional $$$ but he's having a blast and he's worked so hard the past 5 months (very few days off, let alone a vacation) that he deserves to spend some of the money he earned. I just hope he gets a job before he completely runs out of money.

Lynlee It turns out it was a kangaroo, but obviously a smaller type then the big ones I saw up close at Lone Pine or in the wild near Canberra. To my untrained eye it looked more like the large wallabys the kids were petting and posing with at Lone Pine. I'm too lazy to go look up wallaby to see if it is just a small type of kangaroo. And it wasn't in his tent - from his blog:
As I was packing up my stuff in my tent, I heard someone calling my name. It was Ray who had Jossie, the resident kangaroo at Base Camp, in her tent eating her food. We were warned that Jossie would eat anything that we left out over night but we did not expect her to go into an open tent when Ray was just around the corner. I went into the tent and had to shoo her out of the tent, but only after taking a picture.
We had a wonderful time last night with the people buying our house. I'm going to have to give them a proper SHE-board name since they are so much a part of lives so from now on they will be CF (Church friend for the husband) and CM (church musician for the wife.) The boys will remain "the boys".

The meal was beet soup (with beets picked after we arrived at 4:30), parsnips and carrots, squash, turkey & gravy and our mashed potatoes. We has sweets for dessert. Between courses CM & I did some cleanup and after the other family left (they have young kids) dh and I did the washing up while CM & CF put away. After past dinners they always insisted on cleaning up but had to get the kids to bed first so we would leave the kitchen in a mess. I told them we would not come for dinner this time if we couldn't do the clean up so that will be our new 'norm.'

We've been invited for Christmas dinner so we will have someone to spend it with if dd doesn't come home. I've offered to host the choir Christmas party at our house to lighten her load during a busy season. Really, we are just moving it here a year early because the party will be here in 2014 anyway since the church musician traditionally hosts the choir party and this house will be her house by then.

Dh's aunt just called for a long conversation but my voice gave out part way through. We have just too much news to share.

Dsil was looking for someone to put them and their snake up after their first visit here so I've offered to keep the snake between their visits on condition that the snake doesn't have to be removed from her cage during that time. I'm not keen on snakes, but I'd rather her be left here so they are free to do what they want for the last five days of the trip. Because of the snake, they can't stop and do things along the way in the middle of the day since the car would cool off too much for the snake. Not that my house is warm enough but the gas fireplace is always warm so we could put her cage on that as a built in heater (and just make sure the fireplace won't be turned on at all since we don't want to cook the snake!)

Good morning, friends. Started this day off bright & early & took a walk with dh & ddog. Remembered to clip on my pedometer & was happy to see I already have almost 6,000 steps towards my 10,000 goal for today :) .

I'm sloooowly sipping my tea & procrastinating on vacuuming & cleaning the bathrooms :P . Have erased lots of footprints from the weekend & have dinner planned. Thinking about taking a trip over to the farmers market to see if they still have corn & tomatos. We were buying those weekly most of the summer but haven't recently. Owner said they would continue to have both until the first frost.

I started my Christmas shopping last week. Knew of an item dh wanted & have been checking prices at different stores. Found one that was on sale for $20.00 less than it has been anywhere else. Also browsed through a few other stores after getting what I needed & found some stocking stuffers for dh & a gift for dnephew. I have to bring my holiday notebook down from the attic & start filling it in. Also check my gift cupboard up there to see what I already have for dnieces & dnephews. I tend to buy birthday & Christmas gifts for them year round if I see things they will like.

Waving ~~~~~ to everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day. :)

Had an awful night last night. Couldn't get to sleep until almost 4. I was awake at 7 and again at 9.

Woke up this morning (the 9 a.m. one) and decided to get everything else done.

Top on the |!$+ is work paperwork.
Laundry.
Desk top.
Try on everything in my closet. :shock: (I planned on a certain top yesterday and it didn't look good. It looked good when I bought it and I haven't ever worn it.)

Off I go to the closet.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Hello everyone! I've been reading along, but by the time I get here all the news is old...and I haven't been able to chat much. Too busy.

But I did think about somebody asking about the PBS show. I've been watching the Last Tango in Halifax, though I missed it last evening and boy I really like that. I've also been watching the Paradise show about the dept. store in England and like that too. Have caught up on 2 seasons of Downton. Great stuff on PBS these days! Oh, I also watch Sat. evenings when As Time Goes By, and Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine are on. DH doesn't get English humor, but I do!

So, I have a lot of Ta-Da's. Back porch is cleaned, debugged. Inside of house has been cleaned, all except a couple ceiling fans and windows and blinds. Kitchen picture window is cleaned. Micro inside & out cleaned, some cabinets wiped down, a couple wiped out inside.

Today I worked on a sheet which DH got tar stains and blood on (why I don't use expensive sheets there). In trying everything to get those stains out, I managed to take out the dye so I soaked the whole sheet in pretty strong bleach. Now it is off-white instead of french blue, and I pretty much know any stains left are just going to be there forever.

I have a huge pile of paperwork at my desk. 2 Looming projects that have me a bit bothered. I guess I'll try to take care of them first. Today's a veggie day for me since I had cake yesterday at small group.
