I'm not sure I agree with today's quote, however it has me thinking which is good.

We are back on school schedule today. I just came in the house from walking LO to meet the bus.

Harmony - RE: paperwork system (implemented 93 days ago). I still like it. I would prefer to process paperwork when it hits my desk, and that is my ultimate goal. Until I can reach that goal, this tracking system keeps the paperwork organized, categorized and upcoming MUST-do's are known. I can confirm any piece of unprocessed paper exist and find it in less than a minute.

I'm not sure I agree with that "never too late" quote either. I think it's too late for me to go back to college to do anything with the degree I originally wanted ... but that doesn't mean I can't keep learning every day with the resources currently available.

The soft fluffy snow coming down in the yard this morning is very pretty, but it is too early. I am never ready for snow, but especially not before Halloween. We are supposed to get an inch or 2 today. I'm comforted that it won't stick around very long. Not like when it comes down in November and stays until April.

The new-to-me sewing machine is still in its box, but that's ok. It's in the house, and I have the manual out to study. There's another good thing about it, an actual paper manual with color pictures.

This morning I'm going to help a friend again with her sewing project. It's a fitted vintage-inspired dress. I thought we had finished it last week, but she says it still needs a bit of work.

After we're done with the dress, I need to go to the place where my sewing group is doing our event this Saturday to sew for Quilts of Valor. I think we're all ready to go, but want to make sure our flyer is posted and remind the venue that we'll need all the tables they can offer.

Hoping my friend is free for lunch so we can really catch up on news. We needed to focus on her dress last week and didn't have time to chat about anything else.

This afternoon when I get back home I have a bunch of reports to finish so they can be sent out and get off my desk.

I am determined that this evening the sewing machine will come out to play.

I'll say I'm in the disagree with the opening quote as well.

It is too late for me to correct a number of situations that have arisen by putting things off until it was too late. And people die so it is too late in some cases to make amends. (i.e. it is too late for me to go back and actually 'listen' to what my father was saying the night he died. I should have said "go to the hospital, you are having a heart attack", instead I let his "I'm feeling the way I did when I had heat stroke that summer" assure me that it was something that would pass.)

It is never too late to learn from those sort of experiences though. I've learned to listen not only to words, and I don't "see" people, I feel them. I can then rephrase what I'm feeling and express it to them. If I'm off the mark, so be it. If I'm not, I've made the connection they were looking for but didn't know how to ask for.

As for education, it is almost never too late to learn new things but it can be uneconomical. That's part of the reason I never went back to school to get a MDiv. It would take 5 years (I have no undergrad degree) and I'm not sure I would learn enough to justify the time and effort.

One of the things I think our current society does that is bad is to tell everyone "they can be whatever they want to be, as long as they work hard enough at it." This is not true. There are economics, physical skills and mental skills needed to get to where you can do something. Even if you have the physical skill to be an Olympian, you may not have the money for the coaches, or the ability to put aside a job in order to train the longs hours required. If you believe you can and it is only a matter of more money or more effort, then when you don't achieve the result you were looking for you can end up feeling like a failure.

On the other hand, to dismiss opportunities out of hand without seriously considering them is equally unwise. Most people looking at ds's situation 2.5 years ago would never expect him to get out of debt and save enough money to take off for a year in Australia. But he had a dream, made it a goal, and worked that goal until it became reality. He changed his lifestyle and his attitude towards money in order to make the plan work. As he was 2.5 years ago, he couldn't succeed, but he changed himself along the way and therefore succeeded. He didn't know for sure he could change but he tried.

So "never too late" I don't agree with. "You never know what you can accomplish until you try." I do.

Good morning, OKay!

My plans for today have changed. Dh wanted me to meet with him and "the man" about the backyard patio/fire pit that dh has wanted since we moved here. Dh hasn't been able to decide on exactly what he wants, however, so it's been on hold. Today "the man" is bringing him plans that he thinks is what he wants. I'll go by dh's office for the meeting, then he is taking me to lunch. So I'm home mostly today. Besides meeting dh and lunch, I need to p/u dd's computer, install carbonite for her, and get it to a UPS store to pack safely and send to her.

This means I'll go see dsis tomorrow and have to weigh in at WW on Thursday a.m. Another instance of time slot tetris, although this is a quiet week so it's not difficult to change plans.

Dh can't find his passport, which I took out of the designated place for passports and provided to him last winter when he was considering a trip to Israel last summer. Our passports have expired - we are visiting friends next month in Las Cruces NM and they suggested we bring them in case we wanted to go to Mexico. I think I'll go ahead and renew mine by mail and pay for the faster processing and at least that will be done.

I've procrastinated on a temple issue - and I don't know why - but somehow I just haven't wanted to do it, and now it's come to a head and now I'm embarrassed. Why do I do that?

Have done very little this morning....so need to get moving before it's too late.

I'm trying to get going but not doing well.

Thankfully, dh isn't planning to record today. There's a new well being drilled at the end of the street. The good water is 100 - 150' down around here so this will be a long, noisy, day.

Dd comes today! (And dsil and Fluffy, the snake.) So I need to get moving.

I've been working hard to get my knees stronger. They were very good when I got up this morning. I biked for 15 minutes and that actually made my leg more sore. Was fine after the shower and it went out on the way down the stairs. So now I'm achy and limping. Sigh...

I've had my tea and chocolate but need to have my breakfast. Dh has control of the microwave now so I'll have to wait to defrost my berries.

It is not too late for me to learn to do this crochet stitch I am doing and make a rainbow colored afghan!

I have fed the hens and got the trash can out to the curb.

The other gal that was doing afternoons for the babysitting is no longer avilable & not doing it.
I have a few concerns but I am trying to. Not worry and trust God for energy stamina and that the mom will pay on time.

The "too late?" chat - I am beginning to see that it is too late for me to do everything I wanted to do. Therefore, my decision-making and priority-making are tougher jobs and carry some anxiety, even. Thinking of ya'll's chat yesterday about (tangible) projects that are old and not complete, like Lilac's hand-made rug, these are UFOs. (Either Un Finished Objects or Unfinished Fabric Objects) And I have many, many. BUT, far beyond those into social, emotional, learning, physical challenge, provision for others, there is so much I might, in future, say, "I meant to... " So I need to corral those thoughts and learn from myself what to dream.

Yes, Harriet my house does smell sweet and clean.
I have picked up foot prints, put away laundry, fed doggies and handled a few loose papers on my desk. Next project is to finish up my office and then vacuum the house. I don't mind doing that now I know I can complete the assignment in under 35 minutes.

Also want to make it out to the garage to clear out those boxes. I am debating on whether just to dump stuff into a bag and cart it off to GW or to go through the boxes first. If I do that, I might become sidetracked with the memories, and I know there's really nothing in those boxes but clothes I really don't want to hang on to.

Dinner is planned and done. One less thing to worry about. I know once I get this office done I will be feeling much better.
