Nancy: the recipe was just the regular rice krispy squares, subbing 6 c of Vector for the Rice Krispies, leaving out the vanilla and adding 1/3 c of peanut butter and 1/4 cup of chocolate chips. You add the peanut butter and chocolate to the melted marshmallows. They are sticky so I followed the directions and lined the 8x8 pan with wax paper.

They turned out fine. I've cut them up and put them back in the fridge in a container. They'll have more fiber, protein and other nutrients than rice krispy squares but also way more fat, more carbs and at least twice the sodium (i.e. A LOT.) So these aren't healthy but compared to cookies they are probably better.

They are super easy and no-bake, which is a big bonus as well.

Dh isn't going to bed. I failed to get the dishes done (was going to do that after I finished making the bars.) Dh is now recording so I have to be quiet. Sigh... I'm off to bed now. Garbage will have to wait until the morning.

Have continued in a deep clean of the living area. Evening Daily Card done.

Ivy, I have a 30-minute Afternoon Daily Card. It is switchable, but things I have had on it have been sorting the day's mail, making tea (don't do that anymore), putting away any laundry that has finished drip-drying, spiffing the front bathroom if there wasn't time that a.m. If ever we are being at all formal with the evening meal, I include setting the table up for that. Sometimes there are seasonal outdoor chores.

Wanted to tell about the evening at the theatre. We saw a set of 2 one-act plays that were strikingly different, both dealing with the themes of choices and how choices affect our lives (at least that's how I saw the connection). First was "The Disposal" by William Inge (Picnic, Splendor in the Grass), which is a tragic one-act play about men on death row. It was very moving and thought-provoking. This was followed by "Anton in Show Business" by Jane Martin, refashioned with Martin's permission into a one-act play. This is an all-female-cast comedy, a play within a play within a play. We sat beside the character of "The Newspaper Writer" (critic) in the audience, so an altercation between two characters in the aisle was impressive for us. It was odd to feel so pensive and sad for tragic characters, then after a brief intermission, have a zany comedy performed on the same stage. I'm not sure I appreciated the comedy as much as I would have by itself, but then placing the sobering play after all the laughter would have been hard to take. Of the two, The Disposal is the greater work, IMO. But both of them were worthwhile and entertaining.

Helia ~ I love the idea of costumes for the band. What fun!
Elizabeth ~ I'm glad you'll at least have some help for setting up the party.
Kathryn ~ Hope the car problem was just the gas cap.

[Edited at 11:07 to cut out a rant. Too much negativity.]

I have a good book that is due back at the library Saturday, so I'm going to go read it for awhile before bedtime. That will put me in a much better mood for sleep.

We've had a couple of nice days here. The temps have cooled off considerably; highs in the low 80s and high 60s at night --- perfect weather in my opinion! I see there are frosty temperatures up north and even some snow around the Great Lakes -- I guess we're getting to that season!

Elizabeth...sorry to hear that your foot is indeed broken. Hope it heals well.

(((Cathy))).

Kathryn... cereal bars sound yummy.

We saw ddil#1 and her dmom for a little while today. They were out on a few errands and stopped to say hello. Ddil also returned money she had borrowed from us a couple of weeks ago. They had an emergency and got caught short between paydays, so I helped with enough to get them through it; ds got paid today.

I got most of my weeklies done today since we will be out with two appointments for dh tomorrow, PT in the a.m. and INR in the p.m. We need a few groceries also, so a third stop at W-M probably, or maybe Tar-jay, and the bank on the way home. All I have left to do is mop rugless floors and vacuum carpets. Saturday I will finish focus work in living room.

I'm glad to see MT and dh are home safe again. Hope you get your bath remodel all sorted out.

I had a call from my dcousin. They were home here for a few weeks, have since traveled to their house in VA and will be back here around the first week in Nov. It will be nice to see her again.

I kept forgetting to comment to Harriet re Tobias ((poor kitty!)). Our cat, Merrybell, was prone to coughing up hairballs. The vet recommended a beef flavored lubricant which just a thimblefull he would lick off his paw a couple of times a week. Took care of the hairballs and kept him regular as well! ;) Don't know if this would work for Tobias, though....

Time to let dogs out for last walk, then turn lights out for the night!
