I've been letting the dishes slide for a few days. My goals for today are to catch up on the dishes and sleep.

DH wants to go to a movie so I'm pretty sure we'll go see Gravity. I've read a lot of good reviews for it. The ony negative I've read is that there isn't enough George Clooney in it.

My hdr is full again so I also need to watch some of the recorded movies and/or delete them. I don't remember which ones are on it, but I know there are a few good old classics from TCM.

We haven't chatted about movies for awhile. Do you have a current favorite, classic or new?

This week will be busy again, but hopefully not as bad as last week. I never did get to my decluttering project in the office.

My bs is great toda yea! I did 10 mi. On the ex. bike last evening now I am so glad I did.

I am also glad that I paid attn. To the kit. And got the counters reclaimed it is making my day go better this morning.

I got camo print curtians up I the cave basement today yea for progress a camo sheet is on the chair h. Uses for a chair cover so it is a new look in there and it was time to change it up a bit.

Church was good this morning. They had an impromptu elder meeting afterwards which meant all the elder families stood around chatting for almost an hour. We then went to our usual cafe for lunch. We didn't realize that DFriends were waiting for us at MPB. They about gave up and called us when were about 10 miles away. More visiting happened.

I'm going to use some of my free time this afternoon to continue researching the tiny habit process. I'm probably way too fascinated with it. The 15 different methods of making/changing/stopping habits are intriguing me. I want to understand it enough to be comfortable that I'm doing it the right way and for ideas to apply to my life. I recently watched CEO of Weight Watcher discuss several aspect of using Tiny Habits. This is a long video (the first 10 minutes can be skipped) but I enjoyed listening to it while doing paperwork.

Movies? Hum... I'm fascinated with learning right now and keep choosing movies that are probably considered boring and/or not entertaining. Last night I watched Escape Fire: The Fight To Rescue American Healthcare - a documentary type movie about our health system.

My favorite movie jumped to mind: "Sleepless in Seattle."

Am trying to finish up the Christmas afghan for dgrson-4.5 yrs.

Have caught up on snail mail, EXCEPT for my L. L. gal who wrote a 10-page letter. I use lightweight tablet paper with wide lines, so it's actually a shorter letter back because I write big. Her paper lines are close together and she writes small. She's so full of such interesting news!

We're having sun breaks, which is a miracle. Winds are supposed to come and Monday is to be sunny so DH will mow and blow Maple leaves off the roads.

As soon as I finish dgrson's afghan there is dgrson-2.5-yrs. to do. Will be fun because there are many more colors. Haven't decided what sequence to place the colors though.

I think I'll run and wash some dark laundry now and maybe do towels, too. I'll save sheets for Monday a.m. because I don't think it's fair to make DH help me make the bed on his b-day. He's watching Pro-Football, might watch movies and documentaries, too. OH! There is the World Series, too! He's rooting for the Cardinals. I want the other team to win.

The movie "Ascent," was very exciting, about spelunkers who get trapped in an underground cave. It was a sort of adventure thriller. I remember that because I got so scared. When I was a kid "The Tingler," was a scary movie that scared me out of my gourd! But 1 movie I remember so vivid was "Gone With the Wind," on the big screen at our small prairie town theater. I was a girl and I loved horses and ponies, so I identified with their little girl and when she died, it made me so sad. That movie had an affect on me, from a girl's POV. There are several movies with Sandra Bullock in them and and Jennifer Garner, which I love, too. ♥ I like Harrison Ford movies, too, and Tom Cruise movies. Tom Hanks' movies are good, too. DD gets DH DVD movies for his b-days and Christmas. I'm hoping she's mailing him a movie this year. Also, she gave me "The Notebook," DVD one year, I cried and cried, it was my b-day gift and I was so sad when I watched it. It's funny how a b-day gift made me so sad.

Last night we picked an older western I did not care much for fell asleep so I went to bed. The other day I held dgd while she watched Phch. 2 I took a nap, today fell asleep while Mulan 2 was on, do you see a pattern here? LOL

I have been enjoying Nat. Geo. Documentaries like River of No Return; Lewis and Clark the Appalachian sp? (in the Ozarks). trail, one about making of a Viking ? Sword, love net flicks. I could go on about horse movies.... our first movie date was gone with the wind.

DH got a phone call from a concerned friend, via DH's dfriend's brother's gossip. There is a man taking Maple trees out on the parcel behind us. The bro of DH's friend thought the Maple logger went over the line on someone's land, between the bro and his neighbor. He was saying also, how the logger logged in the ravine, which is against the law because fish can come up to spawn. So DH has his lunch, got on his riding lawnmower, to check out our back line, which seems to be fine. DH said the logger knows where the lines are, because the logger had photocopies of our place and the place he's logging. I hated that DH had to be interrupted on HIS BIRTHDAY to go check the line back out back, when this was based on gossip from an alarmist type person who says, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" But DH is very good natured, mellow and easy-going. Not much gets him up in arms without first checking out facts. The kids haven't called yet, but DD called yesterday, talked to her Ddad and he said she need not phone today. So I'm waiting for Dson to call, who often times calls in the evening, when their day with 7 kids, has settled down for the night after their dinner. DH is having a good day, I think. He's busy watching football and later, baseball. We celebrated his b-day on the 22nd, with KFC, with a chocolate cake, so we're not doing anything special today. He's just relaxing in front of the TV. I hated to see him need to go blow leaves and check out the property line in back on HIS day.

Nancy, We watch a lot of documentaries and cable reality shows on Alaska, like for mining gold, buying a new home, and things. Your camo theme sounds great for a basement, too. Good idea!

"The Great Escape," is a good movie and I love Alfred Hitchcock movies, and I liked "Mama Mia," too. ♥

Booksaver, it's good that sewing group yesterday was fun, too.

I have decluttering to do in my office, too. I'm slowly doing it in bits and pieces every other day, or so. Right now, I realize all the cassette tapes I brought in, are stacked in front of the books on the bookshelf, it's very cluttered-looking, and I have black cassette tape vinyl/leather close-zip containers. I don't know why I didn't bring 1 of them to my office. I have 3 of them, between DD's and also her Tupperware cassette holder, too. Thank you, so much, Booksaver, for mentioning the office! It "tweaked" by brain.

Hmmm... don't remember what was the best movie I've seen lately. We see a lot of movies, but a lot of them are sorta mediocre. DEFINITELY not enough George Clooney in Gravity!!!
As far as "classics" are concerned, I could name a bunch I could watch over and over...

... well... maybe I can't come up with a Top Ten list right off the top of my head.

Today has been a VERY slow day for us. We were about 2:00 a.m. getting home from college town last night, so slept very late and skipped church. I napped some more after lunch (breakfast?) and then s2s, went to CVS, talked to dmom, did my allergy shots... just assorted misc. Sunday stuff. Still need to visit dmil and then dh and I are going to Wmart for groceries tonight b/c tomorrow I have to take dmom out of town for foot doctor's appt.
And note, Harriet: We are scheduling some of that "fun" time in. We are leaving about an hour early so we can stop by big city mall and shop for shoes. She wants that SAS brand -- which is not extremely attractive, usually, but generally is very comfortable -- and she just happened to get a card from them and one of their stores is in the mall we drive right past. We decided it would be better to shop morning, before her foot has time to REALLY swell from all the riding, AND before the traffic gets so horrible.
Now... let's just hope I get enough sleep tonight that I am not completely falling asleep at the wheel tomorrow.

One ta-da for me! I made out Christmas list the other night, w/a few (very few) idea/suggestions & budgeted amounts for each person... cleaned out all the old receipts from Christmas Past... cleaned out my file card box... got myself a TINY tiny bit more motivated to finish this year strong. We shall see. At least I have never just totally given up on myself and become a hoarder television project. Yet.

Hi Everyone! I see it's been a really quiet day here in the Village. I hope it's been a good day for everyone.

Hmm, movies....I think my favorite is The Quiet Man ; then My Fair Lady,The Sound of Music and The Fiddler on the Roof. I do like the old musicals.

We had no family visits this weekend. Yesterday was homecoming for dgd16 and the other dfamily is visiting ddil's dmom & ddad three hours north. Yesterday I spent a good deal of time in the family room/office. I moved a file cabinet to a corner of the room by one of the windows and put the dog crate in it's place. I also cleaned out a couple of boxes of stuff --- some things relocated, some papers/magazines recycled.

Today, we went shopping, two different super stores, so now I think we have enough food for a couple of weeks, except milk, bread and eggs which are used up quicker. Yesterday was birthday for dgd13, so we got her a gift card. All the dgkids are getting so that we don't know what they need or want, so that's the easiest. Although dgson will be 10 yrs. on Oct 31 and he needs Boy Scout stuff, so we will stop at the scout office one day next week for that.

Ivy....I'm glad your trees are not being cut down. Has the fog finally lifted?

I just watched Quartet and enjoyed it. My minister friend had recommended it so I asked him today to recommend another. He came up with Amour (french with sub-titles) but warned it is a downer. Sounds like it is similar to The Notebook (which I've avoided watching.) Not sure I'll look it up.

I had a great day. I drove up to my friend's church for worship and he gave me that. They had 8 hymns and 2 sermons in there anniversary service! I'm sated! The potluck after was wonderful as well. Then my friend and I had a whole 50 minutes of just the two of us talking (when there were others around, we made general conversation to include them.) It was wonderful to just have time with him and catch up and go over mistakes I might be making, learn new things he's discovered for himself and just connect.

I left his church at the last possible moment and got home at 4:45. Picked up dh and we went over to the church supper at 5. I wasn't hungry but that probably helped since the dinner wasn't low fat (it was ribs.) I ate half mine and dh finished them up for me. Both of us are feeling overfull now.

I'm home. I've dusted and vacuumed the upstairs (using dd's vacuum since it was there and I didn't have to worry about stairs) and have run load of laundry. Ran one this morning too. That's put away but I have to hang up this evening's load.

I'm going to do that and then head off to do physio. Skipped it yesterday and have hardly moved today (managed 5K steps yesterday.) The four hours of driving worked out to be 3.5 (but my gas mileage was poor due to my speed!) I have 6 hours of driving on Friday so I'm glad I got some practice in. On the way up, I drafted the Christmas Eve service in my head, going over it from start to finish repeatedly, picturing how it would work (blocking and flow.) When I got to the church I wrote it all out while waiting for the service to start so that's done and I'll write the full service on the plane to Oklahoma. The ideas have been floating around in my head and I wanted to get them nailed down.
