Sunday at the Movies

Movies -what an interesting topic today -especially since DS-A took us down to one of their renovation projects this morning!! They've divided off one big room downstairs & just got it all drywalled, have a raised platform for movie type recliners on that level & 3 more on the floor level, with a big screen tv going across the end of the room with surround sound. Guess this has always been one of his big dreams -having a movie room -who knew? DdIl consented to this? Said they should have waited a few years but wants the kids (& him) to enjoy it now.

It is Sunday night right? Dh's cardiologist called about 45 minutes ago. Was a little shocked at that. He had routine lab work done on Wednesday morning -more on that in J&C. Dr wanted him to just have it checked before we headed out to FL. May once again be on hold. Will see what tomorrow's repeat test says.

Went to church this morning and did pretty well most of the day with sporadic coughing -but evening has been another story, Another night in the recliner for me.

Brought home some left overs from last night's smorgasbord today. Had turkey gravy over biscuits (with veggies & stuff) yum. Good for dh because it wasn't salty. He did ask dr tonight about his repeated bouts with water weight. Wants him to try doubling up on the Lasix for 3 or 4 days and see how that works. Really hoping we don't have to deal with a lot related to this surgery this winter. Sure makes me wonder about even leaving.

Better get the other posting done so I can hit the hay.

I had my usual nap after dd33's family left. The 2 older boys slept here both nights. I think it wore dd15 out, since she is their go-to person of choice for any tiny problem, but it probably gave dd33 and dsonil better sleep for their trip back. After two community fall festivals yesterday, we were pretty laid-back today and basically had no more activity than to eat lunch.

Dd15 and I went to the grocery store to restock later this afternoon/evening.

I spent some of the evening receiving photos of yesterday and sending them along to others, reversing with their photos!

Hoping Sunny's granddaughter and Mr. Ivy had great days.

Sorry to see Amazon.com changed their free shipping to only orders with eligible items over $35. They are trying to get people to buy "prime" memberships. But I'm one of those who doesn't order often, so instead of increasing my business, this will limit it. As far as books, I should probably give my business to B and N, anyway, who are still trying to operate locally here.

Gave dd15 today's question and she says that one classic movie that can be recommended for all ages is "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken". She notes that men will often stop and enjoy that one with the family.

We're back from church. Heard from 2 different missionaries today. Feeling inspired to remember to pray for them daily.

As for movies, we recently saw "The Avengers" on N etflix at Ds and Ddil's. It was good...lots of funny dialogue when you don't expect it. We don't have N etflix, but wish we did. With basic cable we rarely find anything we want to watch. Without cable, we only get one or two stations depending on which way the wind blows.

My favorite movies are "Meet Me in St. Louis" with Judy Garland and "All This and Heaven, Too" with Bette Davis. Also love the movie "Elizabethtown".

Delivered milk (and a hot dog) to ddil, loved on dgs for a few minutes
Delivered groceries to dmil
Put away our own groceries

I know y'all must be EXHAUSTED, Harriet!!! Wow. One little grandson wears us out!

That is aggravating about Amazon. I'm usually struggling to come up w/$25 of qualified merchandise. Seems like if you buy from one of the cheaper sources listed there, it doesn't count toward your total anyway... so it gets confusing. I do love to order from Amazon, though. There are sooo many books I'd like to buy. So many books, so little time.

And it is very hard for me to regulate my time, too... I spend too much on the computer, and on my phone, and then I think, why don't I have time to READ??? Duh.

DS's movie room sounds so nice, Dee!!!
I do hope y'all get some better news tomorrow w/doctor's visit... and hope your cough goes away SOON!!!

I want to watch that movie, Kathryn -- Quartet. I liked The Notebook. It is sad, but sooo sweet.

I have to chime in about my favorite movie. It is Love Begins, based on Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly book series. They made a wonderful movie to elaborate on the very beginning book, tell the story before that book began. It stars Julie Mond (as the wife who dies) and Wes Brown who is serious eye candy. I have watched this movie over and over and am always amazed at how real it seems to me. And I always cry! For those who read her books, this is the wife who dies, and then she begins her books with the other wife who loses her husband and marries him & raises the daughter, but that is another movie. I have never seen a love story so real to me.

Editing about the movies: There were actually 2 prequels to her book series, the one I talked about above and then Love's Everlasting Courage. Love Begins is happy. Love's Everlasting Courage tells the sad part, though it isn't all sad. Last year they showed all the movies on Hallmark and Pixel. After the 1st 2 they changed actors for the husband and wife, and they were good, but I liked the first set the best.

Today was church and small group tonight. I took a grocery list with me and stopped for that on the way home. I have a meal to make for someone Tuesday..so now I have a plan, a recipe, and the ingredients. Spent a couple hours fixing up the house. DH thinks we can just shut doors! Silly man.

Of course, some trooped back to our bedroom as they were talking about inversion tables for sore backs, and ours is back there...DH did say thank you for all the tidying up there.

THANKS TO EVERYONE'S MR. IVY BIRTHDAY WISHES! It was sweet and I told him about you wishing him to have a happy day, too.

The fog's listed, there were high clouds and some sun. Breezes come tomorrow to yield sunshine.

DH couldn't walk the entire property line in back today, to know if Maple's being taken over our line or not. He's going out on Tuesday with his buddy he cuts firewood with. His buddy has a road back there, to help DH get over to our line better. DH said it was a bit brushy. His buddy has 2 brothers who live a few big parcels apart, we're sort of in the back in between then, although they're South of us. I hope everything's all right so we won't know more until Tuesday. Then his buddy takes him out for his late b-day lunch.

Dson/Ddil and the 7 grandchildren called on speaker phone to wish Grandpa a Happy B-day. He had a bit of trouble hearing them all, because of so many voices. I guess we'll go up for Christmas because they'd need 2 cars to come down here. It's nice to have that all planned ahead.

I decided since I've gained weight that the 100-mile trip up there would be harder on me. I went on-line to learn how many daily calories to eat for my age, weight, and height. I'll start counting calories in the morning, focus on exercise and health, so the trip won't be so hard on me with my arthritis in my lumbar, sacrum, and hips and the Fibromyalgia, too. I want to do all I can to be comfortable that day, so it is good motivation for me to focus toward.

Oh, Harmony -- I meant to put all those Love Comes Softly movies on my list. Dmom got me started watching them and I just LOVE them!

I have washed and hung to dry 3 large loads of clothes. One small load to go, but it can wait until tomorrow. My stomach has also been upset tonight -- not nerves, for a change! I think I just ate too much ballgame junk yesterday and didn't do much to correct that trend today... I know I eat like a stupid person a lot of the time.

I did manage to "walk away the pounds" for 15 minutes before I had my little episode w/my stomach...
and I s/s the kitchen and bathrooms...
TRYING to get somewhat back on track.
Dread having to get up early (for me, LOL) tomorrow.
