TUESDAY's TA-DAs

Post by DeeClutter »

Mention any "ta-da" you have today -it will make you feel good!

Have a good lunch with HRH today, Harriet.

We had a busy day yesterday -cardiac rehab in the morning, dh had a 'last-minute' winterization to do -was supposed to be today but RVer was afraid of overnight temps (it is now 27). Had our pictures done at church -a much nicer experience than I was anticipating. That's a big 'ta-da' for me!

From there we stopped by to say good-bye to DS-R & family. DDIL was the only one home. I didn't want to get too close to her -we stood in the (very cold) garage. In the end she wanted to hug me anyway. (Can't believe I'm still coughing like this). But she did say they will probably come get their 5th wheel to take it to the dealership before the end of the week. Their new one is on the floor being made in INdiana. RV dealership told them to go ahead and bring their old one in and when the new one gets there, they will store it for the winter. So we probably will get to see DS & dgs8 before we leave. Have to figure out a birthday present for dgs before we leave too. What to get, what to get........

Stopped at T Horton's & had a cup of coffee & a bowl of soup. Went from there to the Dr's office. Had to wait somewhere so figured we'd do it in comfort. Dr visit was VERY interesting. Talked a lot about what is going on with dh. As we already knew his blood work from last week shows dh is quite anemic. Dr explained different causes that could be the culprit. He told dh that since it's been 5 months since his surgery, his blood count SHOULD be back up to pre-surgery levels at least -it's not. Quite low as a matter of fact. Told Dr that dh had blood work re-done yesterday & he couldn't find it on the computer so had the nurse look for it. Not -she even called the lab & evidently it's lost in space -they had no record. So -Dr ordered a whole slew of tests which they did before we left. Told us he would call tomorrow with results & a plan of action. Checking for iron, vit b-12 and a bunch of other stuff. Part I remember as figuring out how his system is handling & making blood cells.

Part that was very interesting was regarding his water retention. Dr told us that once blood was under control the heart & kidneys will work better and the problem should be less. Guess part of the theory is that after they removed his external pace maker & drains that he probably 'popped' a stitch in the heart & that has slowly leaked -that would just stay in the sack around the heart.

TMI -Dr had said the way they could tell if he was bleeding elsewhere was to do an -------- exam. I was going to leave at that point, but he was so fast in telling dh to 'drop your drawers' that he was done before I could gather myself. No internal bleeding that was showing up there. Thus the conclusion that it's probably the heart itself. We both feel much more at peace knowing that probably things will move now. We were both fearing another trip to the hospital or specialists. Think we may be ok.

Good Morning!

Oh Dee! I'm so glad your DH has such a good doctor that is looking at all his symptoms and possible reasons. It was very reassuring to me that your DH doctor is looking so hard for the missing piece to solve this puzzle. (((Dee & DH))))

TA-DA -
** Personal grooming done - S2B, hair, teeth, face care
** Breakfast prepared/served/eaten/cleaned up (breakfast burrito for DH using LC tortilla. I didn't eat the cheese or tortilla but enjoyed the filling (eggs, bacon, onions, mushroom, bell peppers, rotel). Enjoyed chatted with DH about recent local events.
** LO up, snuggled and then monitored while he did his AM cards. Walked him to the bus pick up.

Next up - CFO timeslot

First ta-da - got the bulletin info off to the church secretary.

Second ta-da - maintaining kitchen and a bit more of the paper off the table and filed or dealt with. More needs to be removed before we can eat at it.

Third ta-da - got the meat out of the fridge to defrost for dinner (and I have a plan!)

Next up, quick re-write of the sermon while getting the kids started on packing things or at least moving the stuff they know is going to the garage so it will be ready to load into the truck.

Dd is home and is always FB blogging, so I find it amusing to have a conversation or laugh and then when I see my FB page the conversation is up there. And she doesn't even have her "I'm blogging this" t-shirt on!

Ds called last night. Money issues are solved. Apparently his debit card works in the machines at his Australian bank. (It has no indication of working internationally on the card, no logos of the international money networks and there is no mention on the bank's website that you can use the card overseas, just in the US.) And the exchange rate on the credit card is excellent so he knows he's not being ripped off there.

Good Morning Everyone!

Dee...it's always good to hear your good news about your dh and his doctors.
OKay...your breakfast sounds more delicious than mine --- I had a bowl of grits!
Kathryn...glad you are enjoying your visit with your dd!

We're getting ready to leave in 20 minutes for dh's phys. therapy. After today I think he will have just one more appointment. We'll see what his primary care doctor says next week about whether he needs another round or not...dh hopes not! After P.T. we will go down to the scout office to pick up a belt, etc. for dgs.

So that two Ta-Da's for us. I will have more after we get home. Right now I have to comb my hair and put some lipstick on to finish getting ready! See you all later....

Today's Ta da actually was done yesterday but it's for today. My brother and I cleaned the house together, so we are company ready. We opened almost all the windows and used most of a large bottle of F ebreeze. I cleaned the bathrooms while my brother vacuumed. We changed the bed sheets together and tidied everything.
There is/was a regular house cleaner that came once a month, but she just cleaned. I moved all the personal care items into the drawers and cupboards under the sinks and put out extra t.p.
We are expecting more than 50 people at the house between visitations. My sister said that realistically that means 35 maybe. We are having everything catered on both days.

So when we walk into the house, I can feel like saying "Ta Da!!" with the arm flourish... but I'll do it in my mind. (Although a neighbour popped in yesterday and said the house smelled the best it's ever smelled in the 3 years she's been visiting him.)

Mike is playing the piano and I'm drinking a tea.

Kathryn - That makes me smile about your DD blogging life events in real time.

Sunny - WHOOOHOOO!!! Last day of PT!

((((CathyS)))) Your doing great at keeping up with all that needs to be done during this difficult time.

TADA - I made progress on paperwork. Today I focused on getting LO school money caught up (refilling his lunch account to cover next months meals, cookie dough order finalized & paid). Plus processing a slew of other school paperwork including his FIRST 9 week report card (he did very well), IEP progress report, November snack calendar, etc. etc. etc. Just a slew of little things that take time to process and update calendar, statements, etc.

Next up - Focus area for this week (laundry room for me)

Shhhhh....but I may have my ta-da for today! Don't tell a soul! But I clicked on the 'she' icon on the desktop of this computer (my newer laptop) and our site popped right on. Then I said to myself, "do I even dare try to login". Did that and here I am. Have no idea why!! I only hope it continues so I don't have to keep swapping computers. Did anyone do anything on the site itself? I'm thinking probably not. I would be so happy to only have to use 1 computer.

DSisil in FL called to see when we were leaving. Guess that's still up in the air. I'm thinking once new regimen is started it won't surprise me if Dr wants dh to stick around a little bit to see if things are changing. We'll just go with the flow. But at least we think things might be on the upswing.

Dh has his last round of cardiac rehab tomorrow. Then we have a meeting afterwards to go over the next phase which he probably will do in FL. If we're here for a while, he'll probably go into the same place for a time. Should know more tomorrow.

Firemen are here from one of the nearby towns doing exercises between their truck & big pond. Too bad dcampowner can't figure out a way to use some of this manpower & exercises to close down the water around the campground. Have to ask dh about that. Sure would be a win/win situation for both parties.

Sun is shining and the temp slowly climbing. Have to go to W mart later for a new headlight -who knows how long that's been out?

See good friend/neighbor is packing -probably leaving tomorrow. Only about 5 campers left, if that. One is staying for dr appointments. One has separated from his wife & has no idea yet where he's going, Dfriends/neighbor are waiting for friends of theirs to be ready to go after a dr appointment. They had planned to be out of here by Oct 17th & it keeps getting moved further out.

Dee - YEAH for successful login!

TADA -
** With a mind-set toward decluttering, I removed everything from 2 long shelves and cleaned the shelves and floor space underneath them. Then I went through and evaluated each item that was removed from the shelves. Do I use it? Does it "deserve" a spot on these primary shelves? Some items were tossed, some moved a better spot, some put into different containers. Result being the 2 shelves are better organized. But they are still messy looking. Not the long term look I want, but am pleased with making progress ….. baby steps.

Next up - Home loving time slot = daily, weeklies and maybe time to fit in some monthlies

My TaDa is that I am starting to get my routines on my phone. There is an App called Out of Milk that I use for grocery shopping all the time. But I have just started using the Todo list part of the app to keep me on track. It won't be very detailed - but I think it will help.

My sister called at 6:45 this morning so her DH could talk to me about smart phones. (She don't realized that I am 3 hours earlier than they are.) This is the 3rd conversation about it. A friend talked him into trying a I phone but BIL doesn't like it. Wants to know difference between mine and that one. I dunno - never had an I phone. Both have had strokes so it is very hard to understand over the phone and hard to explain phones.
