Guys - something a little bit
I was composing a thread for this week's FOCUS cleaning, since we actually don't have one already composed by Indiana for this week.

I was writing out the calendar reason for that, which didn't seem like such a big deal to me before. Hmmm... ... did you know that there is almost a full week LESS TIME between US Thanksgiving day and Christmas this year than existed last year? US Thanksgiving is all the way out to the 28th this time and in fact Hannukah begins one day prior, on the evening of the 27th (11 days earlier than last year). Anyway, all this may be worth thinking about as we plan the last few months of the year.

For instance, for those who consider the time between Tday and Christmas as the only time they're getting ready for a large Christmas celebration... ... you haven't had this little time since 2002. Maybe a few of those plans need to be tweaked! Or at least expectations changed to insure a calmer season.

I tweak for healthy days or non-healthy days.

I tweak because of DH's schedule, NEED to tweak for Thanksgiving, am tweaking to get gifts done by Dec. 25, and need to tweak for out-of-town Christmas this year, but it's a one-day trip. Will take a tote, with things, if needed like Icy Hot Roll-On. My teen grsons will love how their Gma "smells" if she needs to use it there!

I want to "tweak" my housekeeping between now and Thanksgiving, especially the china cabinets. And washing bathroom rugs and mopping bathroom tile floors, too!

"Tweaking" of decorating has mostly been done, but need to bring out my metal turkey sculpture and wooden Pilgrim Happy Thanksgiving sign. So I'm slowly getting there with Harriet's reminders! Thank you, Harriet! :D

The main thing is "tweaking" my usual schedule as I get ready for Turkey Day, while making gifts for Christmas.

I'll think more about "tweaks" I can do during this day, of Tuesday Tweaks. :)

Odd question - file cabinet here that has never required locking in a decade or two was moved, and likely bumped around a little, but not much. By the time it reached its new location it had somehow locked itself. We simply don't have a key. What do we do? Ideas? Hmmm... ... HRH now says there's a way someone's suggested to him of using a nail file. Sounds unrealistic. We'll see... ...

Well, my plans were majorly tweaked today. I woke to the sound of men and trucks this morning at 7:15. The Yard man was here to trim the agave plants and the trees. By 9 he was paid and left. I now have one less tree in my yard (sick, misshapen mesquite is gone) and all the agave plants are trimmed up for probably 2 years.

Now I have to start investigating lemon and orange trees and start digging the holes for them. There will be one on each side of my back porch.

Now I must get back to my list. I have a surprise meeting at church come up so must tweak schedule for that.

Time to cook lunch. White fish with lemon and parsley and salad.

Oh my goodness, I'm always tweaking. If I spent as much time DOING/WORKING as I do TWEAKING... oh my... my house would be magazine-quality spotless.

Need to cuop... going out to walk w/ds. He's getting very consicentious (sp?) about his running. He tries to run 1.5 miles a day whenever he is home and can possibly fit it in his schedule. But he wants to do his running here, which means we watch dgs while he runs. I don't mind though, b/c I just take dgs out and do my walking at the same time. It cuts into my time for other stuff, but I need the walking desperately, too... and who am I kidding? I probably wouldn't be doing some kind of fantastic focus work if ds were not here... I'd probably be curled up reading a novel. ;)
Tomorrow is another day.

Good morning everyone! I spent an hour last night on the job search. Found nothing specific to me where I looked, but one had a 'where did you hear about us' section. From that, I got lots of places to check. I did get a resume posted. I found yarn for my project, did some cooking, undecorating, and cleaning, then started my new crochet project. I stayed up too late working on it.

This morning I got a surprise call from XDH. He needed me to get DD11 to school, RIGHT AWAY! We made it, barely. He is lucky he got hold of me. One of my new chores is to replace phone or battery (under warranty). It holds a charge for less than 3 days and just turned off. I have had to take a migraine pill.

My tweaking will probably be on my resume tonight, after Girls' Night Out with DD.

The things I need to do (in no particular order) are:

Deal with problem phone
Reschedule an appointment
DPC about cat crate
Arrange Christmas travel (appointment for this is 11:45)
Arrange Christmas pet sitter
DPC eTrade for rollover
Mop kitchen floor
Insurance homework
DPC mortgage company to make sure taxes were paid
Email some congrats
Change watch for Daylight Savings Time
Make list of things to take from work (personal files and items) before I am laid off
Minutes for animal org
Undecorate
Dye some yarn
Upload new project to Ravelry
Job search
Trash out

Long list, better get started.

Back from Y. I don't know why it was so hard for me to get there. Certainly it will be easier next time. Will post more in H&F.

Need to:
-figure out lunch (my tummy is again a bit weird, was also sickly after evaluation and walking on treadmill last Wed)
-s2s
-move towels over to dryer
-head out to bank, gas station and to get oil changed, etc.

Morning y'all

Harriet, at school they drill the locks out of the cabinets. Keys get lost all the time.
However sometimes it takes a thief...or a 10 year old ;) *-) Tell HMH to have fun....

I'm tweaking what I need to get done today because I added an eye appointment to my day.

So far I've been on a roll again. Morning dailies done, doggies fed, only laundry left to do are the clothes on our backs, footprints are gone and though my desk is still disorderly, my finances are done.

Now I am off to work on my closet and still want to make a bike ride before I have to head off for my appointment. I am going to coscos so I will be able to do some of my grocery shopping for Sat. My dinning table is on its way to being set up.

MT...did you get rain over night??? I awoke to the sweet smell of rain this morning. Wish I could capture it and put it in a bottle. It's one of my favorite scents.

I'm off....waving to y'all.

Harriet, I asked DH what you and HRH should do about the locked filing cabinet now. :?: HE said, "I'd probably call a locksmith and have him unlock it and have him make up a new key." I KNOW that costs $$, but "my" initial idea was to have some teenaged boy come in to pick the lock with a nail file or with a hair pin and do it that way. I know that sounds "odd", but MY teen grandsons are so inventive and can do things like this. Do you have any teens in your life who are savvy enough to do this for you? A nail file sounds like a good idea. I've never heard of this happening before. Why on earth did a filing cabinet have to up and do this to you? :!: :!:

As far as Tweaking Tuesday goes, here are some things I/we need to do before Thanksgiving:
1- I need to strip and clean 2 china cabinets' shelves, but 1 china cabinet was recently dusted out, so it's all shiny already.
2- I need to decide which tablecloth to use, or to go without one, to show off the wood table, which is beautiful. :D
3- We got our Cornucopias out, but I do need to get out the turkey sculpture and Pilgrim couple who say, "Happy Thanksgiving" on their sign. ;) ;)
4- It's not necessary for me to clean the entry china cabinet because DD will just walk right past it, so I could also move crystal around and dust well, to cut down on time of removing everything, cleaning well and putting everything back.
5- The bathrooms, main great room/kitchen/dining area will be cleaned well.
6- I'll clean in baby steps and tidy up the other rooms, lest DD goes in there.
7- Also, I need to find places for books, in case DD brings me some more. We've started up our own exchange library between the 2 of us.

DH does the shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, but I plan and write a list. It's just us and DD, so there isn't a huge crowd. :P DH watches football and he cooks with a little help from me. I do the table and since DD might be here (I said might!), we'll watch a DVD movie she brings, too. (Sometimes they're weird movies.) Clean-up is a communal thing, DH gets take-home leftovers together for DD and we visit and then she heads home before going-home traffic on the freeway gets too bad or before it gets too late.

Twins' sorry about your tummy. :o

Elizabeth, WTG spending 1 hour on job searching. :D

Lucylee, It's GOOD you're always tweaking. :) I think it makes us more spontaneous and ready for anything. It makes you more flexible, doesn't it? :?:

MT, It sounds like your yard got in a major tweak today. I bet it looks brand new and so different, too. :)

OKay, I hope LO is better! :!:

(((CathyS))) It's good you have a "place to go", like here, when your Mike's a whirlwind.

I was terrible sick this a.m., but with my pills for that stuff, it's gone away, I have no cramping or anything and am fine now. :D My new panties are to arrive today. I've been washing panties every 2 - 3 days, to wear my favs. And now I'll have 9, so won't need to do laundry as much! :!:  ;)

I sent those along, Cowinkie. Thanks, Ivy. Right now, he's getting advice not to use the nail clipper idea.

I squinted, and with a flashlight I have an IDEA of what the lock number code is from the tiny front of the lock. I would not swear to this, because they may be using hieroglyphics, but knowing the only possible numerals in existence  this poorly engraved code must be the one I think. So maybe we would just order it from the manufacturer and wait.
