Well, yesterday I learned (to my great surprise) that apparently my dmom is as big a George Strait fan as I am. How odd. I had no idea.

Today, I have learned, via Okay, about funeral invitations. I have never been “invited” to a funeral before. Around here, funerals are always just announced in the newspaper obituaries, and anyone who wishes to attend feels welcome. VERY RARELY, there will be an obituary w/the statement that “Private services will be held…” and then others know to stay away. (I guess in those cases, the family does “invite” those who they want to include. I’ve never been on the list, I guess.
Also, for food, here people just bring food to the household where the family is gathering before the funeral. Church groups usually provide the after-funeral meal for the family. Never heard of a pot-luck following the service, either.
So interesting how customs differ from place to place.

Waving to Lynlee – good luck with the yoga and physical therapy. Sounds like it will help, but it probably won’t be pleasant in the meantime. Everyone says physical therapy is sooo hard!!!

Lilac, sounds like ds19 is doing GREAT!!! I am so happy for him!!! Congratulations to the football team, too. (And good luck in the finals!)

-- Well, Twins, just look how much ahead of ME you are!!! (I am happy to report that I am wearing lace up shoes and a bra, however. Plus my walking pants and t-shirt I slept in. Just waiting on dgs to wake up so he can eat breakfast and we can walk.)

Yes… dgs has been well-trained to be a nightowl, too. * sigh * Last night he was quite happily and quietly sitting up and playing at 2:00 a.m. I had TRIED to put him to bed at midnight, but the tears just continued on and on… (We strongly believe in leaving a baby alone for 15 minutes once he’s in his crib, but this was well past that time. He’d quieten down, then start up again. So I just got him up and let him play in his playpen some more, and I don’t know HOW long it would have taken him to fall asleep there on his own. I put him back in his bed at 2:00 when dh was ready to go to bed, and after about 5 minutes of tears, he was sound asleep.)

Waiting for DH to get home. LO is still in his PJ's.

Lunch is ready (chicken fries, green leaf lettuce, pasta salad. Dessert will be banana, pineapple & apple chunks.

Need to call lawyer office but can't do it with LO in hearing distance. Just looked at court house holiday schedule and found it is closed today so I'm sure the lawyers aren't working either. I can move that call to another day (still dreading it but am guilt free for not doing it today)

Spent too much time searching online for a water resistant planner. I'm frustrated that with a "blink of an eye" months of calendar pages can be accidently ruined.

Harriet hit the nail on the head; I need a full circle sermon.

At the hotel in Santa fe. Our room is gorgeous and I don't want to leave it. The car is parked a few blocks away because the veterans day parade had the area around the hotel closed to traffic.

Dh will be meeting me in a few minutes and we'll unload the car and return it to the rental company. That will be my next adventure because it is too far to walk back so I'll take a bus.

Hi everybody!

Learned that staying up too late is becoming too normal for me, and I am falling into a bad habit. We didn't wake up until 12 noon.

Learning that donating things now is better than having crammed drawers and cupboards. Why have clothes that don't fit and take up valuable real estate when getting rid of them gives me more room and everything in all my cupboards, closets and drawers now fits. I tried on everything yesterday and if it didn't make me happy, it was gone. Old make up that isn't being used is a waste of time and effort. Same with belts, shoes, blankets and canned food. OUT!

Today the 4 suitcases get loaded, weighed and locked before we go to bed.

You are really inspiring me, Cathy!!! I am thinking, if I can't make myself tackle whole ROOMS at once, why can't I do ONE SHELF per week, etc.?

I'm sorta like Lilac's dmom... still just THINKING about this... But at least I'm thinking!

Oh -- and BTW -- our house is still very neat and orderly to the casual observer, thanks to dh's OCD ways. It's just the deep cleaning and closet cleaning that suffers so terribly around here.

Dd and I got some sunshine today, as I did yesterday. Sammie is loving the bright sunshine, which I'm sure warms old bones. We need to buy her a thicker mat for the times she just insists on protecting us at the north-facing door. I think she makes her choices based on the position of wildlife, who have no knowledge of what would be best for her! And it's about time for redoing the doghouse heated mat and the henhouse heated waterer.

Oh, also I need to check on the humidifier status, don't I? Lots to think about as we admit the winter is coming hereabouts.

I don't know if this way of funeral invites/meals are a custom or new way of doing them. It is not how the typical funerals are done here. The neighbors are from Alabama so maybe it is a custom there? I'm fairly sure using Face-book to issue the funeral invites with RSVP is not a custom anywhere (yet?)

Nodding head. I suspect you are right.
The calendar pages were vertical when they were ruined, but the bottom edges of the pages were touching the desk top. When LO spilled my coffee it ran all over the desktop and the edges of the calendar pages seems to suck up the coffee so about 4" of each page was soaked. I ran for paper towels immediately but wasn't fast enough to prevent the damage.

Of course, the ultimate solution is don't have any liquid near planner pages.

LO is down for a nap.

it's snowing YAY!!!

went to store and now home again... work at home done: zilch... happiness because of the snow - beyond words.

I couldn't get to sleep for awhile, spinning about all the things that need to be done before the end of the year. My feet were up, though, and that was the important part. Finally dozed off.

And woke up to snow on the ground. This morning the temp was mid-40s but the radio djs predicted dropping temps through the afternoon and a little snow. They were right. There's over an inch on the deck outside the kitchen. Brr!

Okay's cheese quesadilla still sounded good when I got up, but I remembered that we're having cheesy pasta casserole for supper. I cooked California mix veggies and a sweet potato for lunch.

I'll get back to financial stuff after I eat.
