Home again, finally. This has been a loooooong day. DMacs to PT early and things well. I got sidetracked when I came home with him by phone messages so was a little late heading out to dmom's. On the way I needed to call an eye care center to give them my credit card for dsis' glasses, then nursing home re permission for flu shot. THen phone call from water utility for dsis' house that she had a possible water leak and the dumpster was over the water line. So phone call to get dumpster moved this afternoon. Got dmom (had to go back in and get her hearing aids which she forgot, but I'm not sure whether the batteries were even working in them  ) and stopped at KFC for a bucket of chicken and sides, and way across town to dcousin's for lunch with her. (This is probably dmom's favorite niece and she was my favorite "older" cousin when I was growing up.) Then back downtown for dr appointment, which went much like MT's recent appointment. We were scheduled at 1:30 and probably didn't get called back until close to 3 p.m. Then she needed blood drawn so that took longer. Finally back to dmom's where I refilled her meds container and got out of there around 5:15.

After that it was a snap to get to cleaners before 6 p.m., pick up meds for dMacs at vets, and then on to Pet S mart for dog food.

Then home again finally and I forgot about WW and ordered pizza. :D

Dh is going to the program tonight at the JCC. I still need to walk the ddogs and start a lol.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Harriet & HRH!

Welcome to manateemum!

Dh and I took it easy today. I did my daily routine and a little puttering. We both took a short nap right after lunch. I will have to get a few groceries tomorrow though.

Helia, the lecture tonight sounds interesting.

Long day here too. My doctor visit started on time and lasted right at an hour. Doc gave me the "get that weight OFF!" speech. I was 7 lb lighter than last year but that didn't impress him too much. He wants both DH and myself to drop the excess pounds. I have several tests in process of being scheduled from today's visit.
** CT to screen for lung cancer. Since I'm an ex-smoker and DBro died from lung cancer, I'm in the high risk category.
** Mammogram
** Ultra sound on b*reast cyst that was found last year. This will be the 3rd ultrasound tracking it. Doc mentioned sending me to surgeon, but is holding off making that decision until receiving ultrasound results.
** fasting blood work to monitor thyroid, cholesterol, etc, etc, etc

When I got out of the doc office, I called DH and discovered we were both in town. We meet at a place we had heard about and enjoyed having lunch together.

Then I spent three hours shopping. I almost enjoyed it. Sorta. kinda. At least I didn't hate every moment of it like normal.

31 gift party was good tonight. Although I bought things I don't need - I'm glad I went.

Well, we couldn't get into the lecture. We were late, but I don't think that made a big difference. I mean, I think we would have had to have been significantly early to find a spot to sit. The auditorium and the lobby were packed. We met friends from church on the sidewalk in front of the building, and they said they were turning away about 1000 people. They should have booked a larger venue for this speaker. The thing about this that gets me is that they're going to turn away a lot of Univ. students since they're almost certainly going to be late, and they're the ones who would most benefit from the lecture.

What to do with my evening at home?

Twins, I forgot to tell you earlier how fascinating I found your account of the meeting with the Sofer and the inspection of the Torah scrolls.

Glad you could (sorta) enjoy shopping and lunch with dh, OK.

Well, thank you, Harriet, for not being shocked at my plans to do dressing for family. Cornbread dressing w/chicken. Dbil tonight volunteered to bring turkey from somewhere – which will NOT be smoked – which is much more to my liking… and dmil’s liking… BUT… dh does not know if we can depend on dbil or not, LOL. Guess he IS fairly preoccupied right now… but he brought it up. I’m willing to give him a chance. By next Wed. if he does not have it ordered and a plan to pick it up, (place is about 30 miles away!) then I will step in and take charge.
Dniece may be joining us, but that will be fine, too. Still keeps our number at 8. Much better than hosting 30+, even if more cooking IS required of me. It is time I learned how to be a grown-up. Dmom says anyone who can read can cook… but dh would like to dispute that, I believe. Dmom TOTALLY understands my willingness to cook for 8 but reluctance to host 30.

Today, I did walk 2 miles w/dgs AND figured out a way to make the broken strap on our high chair work. (Just ran one of ds’s old belts through the loop. The crotch strap is fine, the waist strap/belt is missing/broken/who knows? This worked fine and dgs enjoyed his supper quite well. Then we went to dmil’s for a while, and dh got her van for the weekend trip. Remember, dgs and I are staying home and dh, ds, and ddil are taking in basketball game AND football games in college town.

OH – I also REALLY tried to get my dmom motivated this morning.
I told her to take a sheet of paper and fold it in half.
On one side she should write all the stuff that she needs to do/has to do, and on the other side all the stuff she wants to do. Big stuff, small stuff, ALL stuff. Insurance forms, write dsgm thank you note, pay bills, take phone to V erizon and get info from old phone transferred to new phone, sit on front porch and take pictures of sunrise across the pasture, sign up for painting class, check into ballroom dancing class -- * LOL * This is all REALLY something she wants to do. She wants to take ballroom dancing and then she wants to go on another cruise. I say more power to her. She knows I am not going on a cruise. Maybe she can take dbro.
ANYWAY -- Then I told her to spend at least 15 minutes on SOMETHING on the list each day, preferably something from EACH side… but at least SOMETHING.

Then I promised her that I would go and do 15 minutes also.
So – I got a load of clothes in the washer, s/s all three toilets, and s/s dh’s shower. Hung clothes to dry after walking.
I did not call dmom back to check on her progress, though. * sigh * I will call her tomorrow. I kept her on the phone 2 hours last night while I was ironing.

Oh -- and I know the list thing is somewhat overwhelming to some of you -- but dmom used to be really great w/lists, got me started making daily schedules and lists, waaaay before anyone ever heard of P&P, etc. Dmom also HAS a card file, but it has been a loooong time since she looked at it, and it will probably be a looooong time before she can get back in the box, so to speak. But I think, and I told her, once she starts being able to cross some things OFF that list, she is going to feel soooo much better.
Tomorrow is another day.

My afternoon was spent going through some of the artwork at the State Capitol (enough of a gallery for me.) It was ok but what I really enjoyed was a display on book art - art made from books in some way or another. Eventually, I'll post the picture of the apron made from recipes from a cookbook. Took a picture especially so I could share it with Harriet (there's an example of y'all traveling with me when I'm on the road.)

After the Capitol, I did another consignment store, then the grocery store, then back to dh to give him some milk to drink. Babysat his computer while he went to the bathroom, then vegged in the hotel room until he came up at 6 for dinner.

We went to the Whole Hog for dinner. He had bbq, I had brisket on a baked potato. Then we walked over to our friend's dinner party. He often has a dinner party when we are traveling with him but I figured he wouldn't because he's in the hotel with us, not an apartment. But he went to a cooking class with another attendee this morning and they had leftover food. She'd rented a little house for the meetings so they had a little dinner party with attendees and spouses. Since we aren't fond of spicy foods, we skipped eating there but went for the conversation.

Dh is still feeling poorly (but was quite well this afternoon) so he's going to head to bed soon. I'll follow and we'll get up early and pack in the morning.
