Hello Dear Ladies,

We are supposed to reach 40 degrees today! Woo Hoo! 8-)

Used the computer at work to request the time off for surgery. I put it in as vacation and personal time. January is a slow month and they usually cut hours so they should be willing to give the time off. Not putting it in as a medical leave as I don't want to deal with the new method that is used. Been dealing with Dson's leave with his foot and it is a major headache.

Just don't know what the reaction will be when I show up with the sling for the next 3 months. Doctor said I'll be able to do my job and we have had people coming in with casts and braces frequently so other than curiosity, I don't think they'll say anything.

Last night also there was a young man answering the phone. He had hurt himself while pushing carts in the ice and snow so they always put the injured person on the phone job. I went out on the sales floor and made the racks and shelves look better. We call it zoning.

Shower time for me.

Have a great day all!

Several things done today. I got a huge project reworked and redone completely. The numbers are better. I was worried about this one. Consequences would have been huge for us. Lotsa money!

Anyway...moving on from that... I got dinner in the crock pot - stuffed cabbage.

After a conversation with DH I dialed up my courage and got him a bone dr. appointment for the 20th. The one who fixed his hip has moved away so I had to pick another. That was the hang-up. I just couldn't settle on anybody. DH wouldn't pick, he told me to do it. Something this big, I think he should have done himself, so for months I've put it off. Finally, made an appointment. It's the old office, a new doctor. At least they have his records from when he broke it... and we will go from there. My concern is DH has been reading things and has a preconceived notion of how he should proceed. I'm hoping that he'll have an open mind to what he's told and will consider what's being told to him. He tends to view medical procedures the same way as mechanical problems in engines or cars!

This morning dd2 had a sophomore male student wearing a short sleeve t shirt and shorts. We were in the low teens. This student had walked his 2nd grade sister to school and then had ran to the HS. That is easily 3 miles. Dd2 asked him where his coat was. He told her he didn't have one. She asked him if it was his choice and he said no. She was sick. She emailed the 3 2nd grade teachers at his sisters school to see if she has a coat, hat and gloves. Dd2 is planning to buy him a coat, hat and gloves. If the sister has a coat, then she will buy her pjs or something. She said she will wrap them and take them to the office. She will put from Santa on them. I know her, I am sure she will buy more than that. She said so many boys wear shorts year round that she never notices if they ever wear jeans. I told her that she really needs to tell her kids this. They have everything they need and way more. They need to realize that not every child has what they take for granted.

Still working on laundry. Need to iron dhs shirts as they come out of the dryer.

Hello Village SHE ladies.... :D

I spent 90 min. walking on hold for 2 different calls having to do with insurance coverage. I got 1 picked out, a packet w/my card will be sent to me, and my primary care physician carries only this particular healthy options. So I'm good there. Another doctor won't, the dentist doesn't, and I'm trying to find out about another professional person. I need to phone another #, to find out about optical, but honestly, I've been walking 90 min. on hold and I was on hold longer than that, but sitting down. I'm not excited about calling today. I'll wait for another day.

It's warmed up, is raining. DH is going to a retiree's luncheon. 1 of the men in his group died this week, the funeral's on Sat., so he'll attend that, too.

I am so happy I got my story sent off yesterday, want to crochet, read, and lay back and relax now. There are gifts to wrap, too, but I'm not "gun ho" to doing that today. :?

Have a wonderful afternoon, Everyone. I need to wash some dark leopard fleece pajamas and a burgundy fleece robe with some other dark clothes. I'm thinking about (((OKay))) and (((Sadie))).

Sadie, If you keep wearing the sling at night, it helps to sleep with a little soft pillow or teddy bear under the arm for support, so your arm's not heavy on the rotator cuff, pulling weight on it to cause discomfort. Also, if bedtime sleeping is impossible for you, on some nights, a recliner works well, with pillow supporting the arm. Are you going to have surgery in 3 months, after you're done with the sling, to remove the bone spurs and fix the tear? :?: Will you be doing P. T., too? :?: Good luck with everything.

Today has really gotten away from me. I was up at 7:30, read the paper and puttered around a bit and left to go after dd by 9:15. We were home again in just over four hours. I was soooo sleepy driving today - felt like I never got awake well this morning - so I've napped since we got home and am having an iced coffee to try to wake up.

I need to get rolling, need to walk ddogs, put together an appetizer (means a trip to grocery) and s2s and go next door for neighborhood Christmas party around 6 p.m.

First to the grocery down the hill.

Helia & Kathryn - I like how you clearly laid out your day into time slots. You are always so good at accomplishing a variety of items. watching and learning...

OK, I think you should watch and learn from Kathryn. I was using her tactic as my model, and I'm not having much success today.

Things are not going as planned! Ergh!! I didn't get all done before 9:30 as I had wanted. I got done at dfriend's house a little early and went to the mall -- only to find out we do not have the stores from which dfriend recommended I purchase a gift for her dd14. I did pick up a couple other items, did my TJ and g. pig hay trip - only to discover once home that I forgot a red onion, which I need to make the salad for tonight, and I forgot to look for more plastic silverware which dfriend requested I pick up before the party tonight. (I did volunteer to do that.) I went home feeling rather disgruntled. I looked around online for the stores dfriend had mentioned; the nearest one is in a mall about 35 minutes from here. If I order online, I can't get it here in time as I want the package in the mail by Saturday at the latest. I don't want to have it shipped to their home b/c I already ordered one gift for her ds and had it shipped there. I could print out a gift certificate. . . I'll probably just drive to the mall tomorrow. I have also cooked the rice for the salad and started a load of whites. Also toasted the almonds for the salad. And started the breadmaker for dh.

Mini-rant: I also feel a little irritated at dh who was not happy this a.m. that I had not bought a veggie for dinner for tonight. He had said earlier that he would cook dinner tonight since I'm going to the potluck, and he also chose to host friends here. I had asked him what he needed for dinner before I went to the groc. store on Tuesday, and he only mentioned ingredients for the main. It didn't occur to me to check with him re: veggies since often when he cooks he is content to NOT have a veggie. . He is planning to make the main and rice and just assumed I would take care of the rest. I thought I'd been clear that dinner was entirely in his hands. . . I did say this morning that I'd run the breadmaker and we had fixings in the fridge for salad. Or he could use some frozen brussel sprouts.

I'm off now to switch laundry and go to the groc. store to get the red onion and silverware.

Helia, I'm sorry your day isn't going as planned - you still get a lot done on a bad day. Sorry dh isn't takin' care of his own groc list. Do you have anything in the freezer or a butternut squash or sweet potatoes that he could use?

Dd said she would go to the grocery for me - I only had a few things on my list and she probably wants to stock up on some of her personal staples anyway. I went on and walked the ddogs. A very nice afternoon here - only 40 degrees or so but sunny and no wind. Noticed the two dogs that live up on the hill sleeping in the sun, until they woke up to bark at my boys.

We've had two nice days in a row here and construction has been all out on two new houses. This leaves only two undeveloped lots in the circle part of the neighborhood. One house had the slab poured yesterday, and today the framing for the first level is coming together. On a second house, I think they laid it out yesterday and dug out for the footers, and today a concrete truck is there pouring the footings. (Next they will build the concrete block foundation, backfill it with gravel, and pour the slab.) It's been interesting seeing so many houses built here.

I am going to straighten up the kitchen a bit and work on a.m. routine, and then get into the shower. I think dd just pulled into the driveway.

Your DD sounds like me...that's why many teachers are so poor. We step in and take care of what is needed. I always kept extra food in my classroom cause I had kids coming to school hungry, or didn't have money for lunch. Tell your DD thank you for me...I appreciate what she did.

My house was in order and now it is a total mess again. Oh well its gonna be back and forth like this until I get everything done. My son called early today and asked if he could invite a person here for part of his visit. I said ..sure, boy or girl? His reply...Girl. That means there's now someone in his life he wants me to me. I know this dance very, very well. :D

The guess room is "Son" ready, but now I need to make it "Girl Guess" ready. I will remove some of my stuff from the dresser in there and make sure there is way more room in the closet LOL I told him I would even let her use my bathroom...there's a split bathroom and usually I keep my side my son has the other and we share the shower. Soooooo, I will be doing some re-arranging in the week to come. I'm happy that he is bringing her because it means there is finally someone special in his life again.

Don't know where Lawrence and his camels are, but they most be close. I can hear some faint jiggling in the distance. Norma and Mr. Guy are coming over late this afternoon and we are going out to dinner. I don't even care if my house is a mess. They've been here many times before so there is no pressure to have it company ready...Its it is what it is ready. As long as there is a clearing on the couch to sit they will be happy.

Off to do a few more things and then I have to hit the shower...cy'all later.

Oh for heaven's sake - as if Cowinkie's house is never ready for company. It always is!

I am so ready for Chinese food. This is our first since we arrived here and when Sweetie suggested it, it worked perfect for us.

Monday is our "Monday Lunch Bunch" Christmas party, so Mr. Guy and I did a little cleaning today in preparation. Will go early Sunday morning to get the goodies. We do Corned Beef sandwiches for the guys and Turkey croissants with cranberry and cream cheeser for us women. We have green salad, Macaroni salad, cheese, pickles and chips. I think I'll get some Red Velvet (decorated) cupcakes too. We (there are 8 of us) who go every Monday someplace. It is a good group.
