Just sayin' once again how glad I am for all the friends I have in this village. We all support each other in so many avenues of life and I find you to be my very best IRL friends. Both those I've met and those I haven't -I may as well have. You are all very real to me! After many years here in this village how could it be anything else?

boy do I want to say hi to each of you individually...but I am wishing you all a wonderful day.

timer set. cards pulled. going back to simplicity for today. Let go has always been my mantra and I haven't been following it. Simplify, and let go of unrealistic christmas expectations. (I didn't follow my cards this year... learned a lesson for next year)
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Dh made me french toast for lunch.

I need to finish finding the kitchen table. I did a lot of work on it searching for the scissors. Eventually got to the bottom and still no scissors. Found them on the china cabinet.

Everywhere I turn I see work to do. Still don't have a gift for dsil. But have until the 27th for that.

Load of laundry awaits hanging.

Fridge and freezer need to be cleaned out. I can't freeze the egg rolls or the roasts because there's no room in the freezers so I'm going to have to take advantage of the cold and put things on the balcony in a bin.

Twins: thanks for the article. It explains a conversation I had on Friday! I'm making dh's grandmother's recipe. She's from the Eastern Townships and hers is with pork and beef, mashed potatoes and pie crust made with lard (I didn't know so will be using shortening.)

Kitchen is tackled.

Not perfect but much better: dishes done up, freezers organized, items out of fridge and into freezer, bin on the balcony with ice packs and frozen juices (items that can manage higher temps safely.)

I have ground pork and beef defrosting now. Found a lonely pork chop so am defrosting that for pork stir fry tonight. Must make sure I have a green pepper....

Kitchen table is still a mess.

Several phone calls and emails later, I am heading out to walk the ddogs. Need to do a bit of sweep up on the back patio also.

Ivy, what a perfect Christmas family get-together! Thanks for letting us know.

A wonderful Sinterklass celebration to you, helia. Thank you for the comments on the movie. Happy for ds!

Happy Christmas Eve, Lynlee.

Oh, do I see what I think I see, OKay? A happy day for sure.

After cancelling our DOT trip, and after racing to purchase extra groceries, plus have every last-minute item ready for the friends' visit (5-person family), we got a call from the father, about one-half the way here. They were stopped at a pharmacy buying ginger ale for the mother :? and trying to decide about some meds for her, deciding to give up on our get-together. :?

She has since gotten sicker and sicker, they think contagious with a virus, so definitely they were right to cancel. I feel so sorry for them all. Youngest one won't understand and older brother and sister must be frustrated, also mother and father both thinking about what happens if this bug travels through their whole family. They just hosted the mother's extended family yesterday - oops. So, for us, with mid-day and afternoon planned to give to their visit, our day is at loose ends. We had the croissants we'd planned for their visit for our lunch.

Wrist is very sore. I'm convinced it is carpal tunnel but have no time to deal with it. May have dh download a voice to text converter for me, though because I have sermons to write.

In the meantime, I'm using his bowling wrist brace and it has brought some relief. At the very least, it reminds me not to use this arm/hand if at all possible but if I need to, I can.

edited to add: dh found out that win7 includes speech recognition so I can use that in Wordpad to do the bulk of the writing. Now I just have to come up with something to write. I write better with my fingers than my mouth.
