Done celebrating. *phew* It was good. And took a long time. We all had piles of gifts! I think GG got more than anyone else! When dd15 read her poem and got to the first line of the Tolkien poem where we'd inserted the name of one of the area high schools (Three reeds for Skyline under the sky,) she immediately recognized it and fell back in her seat giggling so hard. .. . She continued a little more and then had to stop again b/c she was laughing too hard to read. And whenever she broke out in laughter, the rest of us couldn't help but join her. . . . . It took a long time to get through that poem. Ah, that is what this is about!! She liked her joke gift too - a giant oboe reed with "the eye" emblazened on it. She said this was the best "surprise" and poem she had yet received.
No, I'm not any sort of professional poet, Ivy. Ds and I just happen to be the best poets in the house (the girls aren't bad either - but they're awfully handy with the gift ideas and construction), so writing the poems for our Sinterklaas celebration falls mainly on the two of us each year. I'm a rather silly poet, actually, which is just what this activity calls for. . . Ds and I tend to play off each other, so we are more funny together than individually.
I think we're cleaned up. I'm going to bed. Tomorrow, I'll do last minute things to prep for Cmas Day.
HaHa! Harriet, thank you for my very own theme song! I had to google around to find one I could actually listen to. We've been having troubles with Flash...and DH took it out because it was problematic...but I found it! Did you know that can be downloaded for a ringtone?
The refrig. was leaking all over the floor and we were down to scrubbing the kitchen and living and entry floor. One gal actually took a picture of the problem and sent to her husband who told her what to do. A plastic pipe inside was clogged and the drip had frozen everything inside. My contribution was several trips out to the car to bring in tools, the hard part getting the plate off the back. I also was in charge of washing all the cobwebs off the walls and floor in back.
Poor family. We also called an a/c company to fix the a/c which was not working. Very hot working there today. I would like to have seen her face when she got back today.
