:D :D :D Happy anniversary wishes to Norma & dh, too!!! :D :D :D

We have just gotten back from Wmart... bought groceries tonight b/c dh has doctor's appt (check-up) tomorrow, and we are going to be baby-sitting dgs tomorrow evening/night, so we thought we'd get the groceries out of the way to night. Everything is put away and I have eaten supper. DH is trying not to eat -- b/c of the doctor's appt. He always gets himself all worked up nervous about going... worries that the doctor is going to order him to take a bunch more tests or something... worries that doctor is going to fuss about his blood pressure and his weight.... He's just all in a tizzy for several weeks before his annual appt. * sigh *

Now... about dmom... no, no, no... we are not looking for a way to deal with the noise... we are looking for a way to keep her at HOME. ;) * sigh * The headphones or earplugs WILL be a good suggestion, however, if she persists in thinking she can do this. OTOH, I sorta think dbro is right. When it comes down to it, and I tell her I want to leave shortly after noon, in order to get there before the Friday afternoon traffic starts, and so we'll have time to eat supper at a nice place, and then she realizes it's going to be midnight or later when we get home... maybe maybe maybe she will just say, "This is just too much, lucy... dh better go with you after all." My goodness. I can't stand it. * sigh *

I'm going to go read for a while. I have a BUNCH of new books and I'm trying to finish the one I started back in the fall. It was really dragging along, and then suddenly it got sooo good! (Man in the Blue Moon is the name of it.)

Did y'all see my :?: the other day about weather reports out West? We'll be traveling I-40, leaving next weekend. Do y'all think the ice and snow is over for the time being?
Tomorrow is another day.

Happy Anniversary to Norma and Mr. Guy and to The Emptynesters

Smiling to hear about Lynlee's ddog getting into a bit of summertime mischief in the midst of hot temperatures and crispy ground/grass, storms that threaten without rain.

"... our not-so-great room" Twins' Mom.

Cathy, I am grateful on your behalf for newfound closeness to family.

sherinjoy, thank you, I sent that report right on to HRH and he was interested to read it! Yes, you could spot that hair anywhere. HRH thinks Fiera (sp) is a little easier to "take" than some of the other chefs or hosts. Nice to think he's a guy who would go to church with his mother.

At church I did sing again with the choir today, leaving the grandboys at home with HRH and dd15. So I left quickly for home and didn't get to speak to many folks.

Dd33's family got on the road mid-day for home and called this afternoon to let us know they were home safe.

I napped and then dd and I went to grocery and to pet store.

On the 2014 new year front - made an internet order of planners for me and for dd15. Ordered the wall calendar for my parents'/dd33's house. Made sure I already have the decorative wall calendar for our house and I do. I sorted that out 2 years ago and labeled it with post-it note. (same one from several years back will work this year - this series of decorative ones doesn't show year-dates.) I'm a little late doing this but the season has been frantic, especially with so many guests and responsibilities recently.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind thoughts toward ds28 on his promotion to captain. He's served as interim before but of course a permanent promotion means a lot to him. It was very intense competition and the first time he's ever competed without a physical component, so a new experience.

I need to follow Nancy over to Cardfile Central and think about the new year in terms of cards, too.

Oh, Harriet -- I forgot to congratulate your ds earlier! That is a great promotion for him!
Looks like 2014 is shaping up with lots of good things in store for him and your older dd, also! :D

I've just been looking back in archives. I love to look back and see what was going on a year ago... gives me faith that I will probably get through whatever is ahead. Easy for me to get frustrated and nervous, thinking about dmom and everything... and I want so much MORE for ds/ddil than they have right now... (although ds sounds like they are doing fine and everything is perfectly okay, as far as they are concerned. I shouldn't worry if HE is not worried, but I want her to get through school, I want more $$$ for him, I want - want - want... ) I need to go lose myself in my book. :D
Tomorrow is another day.

Lucylee - maybe I misunderstood in an earlier post about you going to a football game in California, but I thought you were going to the Rose Bowl game on Jan. 1. Your post tonight says you're leaving next weekend - Jan. 4? - so I don't know what football game you're going to in Southern California. I grew up in the Los Angeles area, so I can answer any tourist questions you may have. The weather has been in the 70's lately in LA, but I have no idea about the weather inbetween on I-40. I always use weather. com when we are traveling - they have 7 day forecasts.

Waving hi to all in the village!

I did it again... 7 loads of laundry all in the same day and very little energy left to put it away. AND I need to have a shower.

Plan is to go have shower as soon as I post this. Then, while bathroom is still steamy, hang up all the clothes on the shower curtain pole. (It helps get the last of the wrinkles out.)
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Showered and now I smell like bubble gum. ("Snow fairy by L ush" on the recommendation of my dd.) Surprisingly, Mike likes it.

All of my clean laundry is hanging in the bathroom. Still need to put away all of the underthings and socks for both of us. Tomorrow.
