I quickly heard the TV local news report on New Year's Resolutions, from Seattle today at 11 a.m. - noon. Later, I'm reading a pen friend letter, asking me about my New Year's goals. Hark! I heard something about a KISS formula for New Year's Resolutions! So my idea was to tell my friend. But I couldn't remember it! I went to the TV news site, did a search, nothing came up, I knew it was Keep It Simple---- "something"--- but what? I ended up doing a "Google" search, read an article all about the SMART method, which I knew already. I wanted the KISS formula!
I read down further, I FOUND IT! It is- TA DAH- KEEP IT SUPER SIMPLE! You break it down into smaller steps, smaller attainable goals, such as 1 less Latte a week, etc... NOW that I can deal with. I'll be thinking in the baby-step mentality, rather than writing down a long list of unattainable goals, which is only frustrating. Keeping it super simple is easy to remember, when we feel ourselves reverting to complicated goals again, all we need to do is say, "Keep it super simple!" to ourselves. I'm so glad I found it in the SMART article.
I'm back to reading my mail. I got 4 - 5 letters today. I'm delighted one's from a newbie, too.
Today, I hope DD is having a wonderful 42nd b-day. She took the day off, had an appt., went grocery shopping, and has an early dinner with her dson-17. ♥ I am so happy she's having a Special Day.
I'm awaiting my insurance card for the New Year and then I'll find out who's my pharmacy. I need to set up a "discussion" appt. with my dr., too. It'll be a busy month, with my b-day and dgd turning 1 year, too. I'll be 62 this year, which seems surprising because I don't feel that old, but ask myself, is 62 really all THAT old? My 97-year BFF is old. So me compared to her, I'm a youngster.
I saw a sad-sad thing yesterday, but it was Nature at work. In our back yard, carrying from our neighbor's woods, across our drain field, into our woods was a huge coyote carrying a dead black cat it just killed, off into the woods. I wonder if it was a wild mink or the neighbor's cat. It was sad. But Nature's this way.

Decided to go to Ikea (Orlando) since it was a dreary day. By the time we reached Orlando the sky was blue. High only got up to 71 though and back to 64 by the time we got home. I know -I'm not complaining. Traffic was awful though on I-4. Came back a different way -much, much nicer and so much faster. Took us about 50 minutes to go the last 15 miles (including the ramp -sat through several red lights.) Should have known -it's not only vacation for FL but for states to our north as well. Know kids up home have the longest vacation they've had in years.
We asked ddil#2 what the dgks were up to. DGS17 months had a 'heck of a time' getting ready to go this morning and then decided once at daycare he did want to be there and off he went waving bye to Mom. DGS14 is "hanging out" (code word for 'watching') with dgs9 for the day and DSGD14 is working on a skit with her partner for Odyssey of the Mind. Nice to know what they're all 'up to'. Makes us feel closer.
Guess I'll go read for a bit. None of us are hungry yet for dinner. We had a late lunch at Ikea. For the record -dd and I had eggplant parm. Yummy! I do splurge there on dessert -we all had something different.
Our travel agent's new assistant can't find a record of the health insurance so we are buying it now. Thank heavens nothing went wrong while we were in the US in November!
I've stripped, washed, dried and remade the spare bed. My suitcase is now open and ready for me to start packing. Dh has set up a card table for his suitcase and the extra bag (for the formal wear.)
I'll need to spend a lot of time trying on clothes. I weigh over 10 pounds more than I did in the summer (and this is a new high weight) so I'm not sure what will fit of my summer clothes. My current blue jeans don't fit any more (and bought them large last summer) so I may buy yet another pair rather than just take black jeans with me.
I'm moved my computer back to my desk in the living room and am sorting through paperwork and making a list of what needs to be done.
Dee, dd and I are trying for an IKEA trip also. Ours is in ATL, two hours away, unfortunately. The funeral of dfriend's father in Oak Ridge TN may compete with IKEA trip later in the week. Need to stay flexible.
And with that round, I may be finished with what I can do on paperwork for now. This round:
-wrap dh's BD gift
-feed poor suffering ddogs
-order pizza for me and dd?

Dd1 just called. They had not gotten around to canceling their debit/credit card over the Target the security breach. Her dh checks their balance every day. Tonight there were over $700.00 worth of charges and all of them were in Canada. Anyway she called to tell me that I had not wasted my time by canceling ours. On Friday I received the new passwords and today the cards arrived. I still need to activate them. We have Life Lock so I don't know if they would have caught it or not. She was going to call dd2 and tell her. She always uses her debit/credit card in Target. They too have Life Lock and were having faith that they would catch any problems.
I have a list to get done tonight and a list to get done before we are out the door on Friday. I don't think either will not get longer, but for now there's a plan.
I've also started a list of things to buy in LA. (Sunscreen, nail polish remover, etc.)
Next up, doing payroll. We've been waiting to be paid by the September client since November 1. There's no hope now we'll be paid before leaving, although dh gave them wire transfer details so, if they pay that way, I'll have access to the money on the trip. I just checked online and someone else paid so we have a bit a money but not enough to make payroll.
I'll loan the company enough money to make payroll (in order to keep up our pensionable earnings) and then have the company pay us back later. Hopefully, there will be enough money before year-end in March. It will be tight, but I think there will be.
I'm starting to pay bills ahead so nothing will go in arrears while we are gone. I have done the company phone bills, but have 7 household things to pay as much as possible in advance.
Well, DD is suitably impressed with dh's doctor. He's such a sweetie. He got our letter tonight and immediately called dh from home. He was able to look up dh's history on his computer there. His 'druthers' would be for dh to see someone here, but acquiesced to giving him an additional med to take twice a day. We'll try that for a few days and if that doesn't have the desired results, dh wants to fly home to see this Dr. DD did find a 1-way flight for $109 (total) tonight so we'll see. DD and I went right to the drug store & bought the additional med (OTC). Figure he should see some results in about 3 days or so. Dr. is pretty sure it's his Barrett's esophagus acting up. Did tell me that if this doesn't do the trick then he'll order this additional test.
I've gotten quite a bit of the Annual reports done today. Talked with our moderator about one meeting we had in September. Ended up being more informative, but it was a 'meeting' so will put a good share of it in my report. The rest of my reports are done I think. Got 2 more reports from a gal this afternoon so things are moving along.
May get these done -as much as I have- and send it up north to be proofed thus far. These are really the reports that might have changes/additions anyway.
DSIL's Dsis called tonight to see if we had plans for New Year's Day. Unfortunately we do. Going to see my DB/DSIl in the Villages. She had invited us all to come to dinner. I really didn't think she was back from visiting her dd and family in PA, but got back yesterday.

DDIL#2 just sent us pictures of DGS17 months. He's got full hockey gear on -skates, helmet, elbow pads and is running on ice skates. Think he MUST be going on 5!! He hits the puck and then yells, "Skate, skate, skate!" Goofy boy.
