Making progress but still struggling. Down to having to do the payroll. I have to write the paycheques and fill in the deductions form first and that will tell me how much money I have to loan the company. Then I'll write that cheque to the company and go do the deposits tomorrow. I'm taking money from us, to pay us. But I won't get the full amount back now since I have to pay taxes. I'm trying to wrap my head around this since I'm only doing it to increase the amount of pension money I'll get years from now. Maybe I should just not bother.

Dee, Your dgrson sounds adorable! Glad the new doctor might solve your DH's problem, but realize he may need a new test for the esophagus, too.

Kathryn, You sound so busy, especially at this time of year with all that's going on in your life. And you're taking a trip, with so much to get lined out first, too. You amaze me.

I put a wall calendar and desk calendar in my small office with a horses poster (8 1/2" x 11" one) from a calendar for the bathroom. Now with this new stuff in here, my small office smells like new plastic. At first, I thought my laptop was going to catch on fire, from the smell I smell.

I put family and dfriends' b-days on the main calendar in the dining room. I'm getting ready to work on my bathroom calendar. I keep 1 in there for my own needs, appt.'s, pen pals' as well as family b-days, writing deadlines, titles to stories I'm working on, and dates when the grsons come to visit. I'm thinking about putting some focus cleaning reminders on the calendar, so I can focus on those days, too. I need to be more proactive in that area.

CathyS, It was nice to see your post today, too. It's nice to see MT again, too. I need to get off here, get this calendar project finished tonight, so I can dedicate to crocheting leg warmers for dgd. We'll ship them and a hat off on Jan. 3.

Lilac, It's sad that Life Lock didn't pick up the Target charges.

Ivy, the dd with the fraudulent charges doesn't have Life Lock. Someone posted on FB that Target says you won't be liable. Also it wasn't a Target debit/credit card, it was from her bank. They say 40 million cards were compromised. Yikes! I am glad I canceled when I did.

Dh and I worked through this payroll situation and decided it wasn't worth loaning the money to the company. Dh's question was 'what will happen if I'm hit by a bus?' and since there's no way for me to earn money, there's no way for the company to pay us back so we decided to just settle for the amount we've made this year (less than half of last year) and accept that we are in semi-retirement and so we won't make as much money.

To get full pension plan benefits, dh would have to work full out for the next 7 years and he doesn't want to do that. So rather than stress over this one thing which seems impossible to achieve, we'll slow down now.

That simplifies tomorrow a bit, one less bit of banking. It does add a phone call though.

Happy Birthday to Twins' Dad and to Ken in Canada!

Nancy, I appreciated the "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" mention. I looked it up and it sounds like a remarkably interesting movie/show.

Got two loads of laundry done this evening after S2S. Catching up on linens.

Slice-of-life story from the mother of the family with whom we had lunch today. Her parents-in-law, whom I have met - nice folks - were taking care of grandchildren. 1-year boy started to projectile vomit and his grandmother was seated looking right at him at the moment. Somehow (self-protection?) she thought it would help if she tried to catch it in her hands. Of course, this did not help. The situation made the grandmother begin to wretch, too, and with both her own hands covered, she herself vomited into her own lap!

At that moment, her little granddaughter toddled up, took in the scene, and spontaneously vomited onto the floor and her grandmother's feet. Grandfather rushed to aid everyone, toweling and cleaning all around, getting children to the bathroom, etc. By this time the grandmother had joined both children in tears, and the parents walked back in to find grandmother sobbing over and over to hubby, "You're such a good man!!!"

Happy Birthday wishes to Twins' Dad and Ken in Canada!

The temp was 64* outside when I got up and 71* in the house. I've had my sweatshirt jacket on almost all day today. We're supposed to have rain on Wed., t-storms Thur. and low on Fri. night around 43*.

Today was mostly desk day. I got my 2014 calendar filled in and Jan. bill list made out. I've cuop a couple of times earlier today, but kept getting interrupted by either dh or ddogs. Also was sidetracked by looking up ancestors info. I want to check out the Focus Thread/Last weekend before the new year, also.

Oh, my goodness gracious, Harriet. What a picture your "slice of life" story put in my mind! I remember when my ds#1 was a toddler and he became sick after a dose of cough med. My dh was holding him on his lap, both hands full of that stuff and him yelling for me to "get a towel quick" (not his exact words) Sure hope they are all feeling better!

Awwww that is so sweet that the dh/grandfather was able to clean up the mess. My dh would never be able to do that. He has a very weak stomach where blood, vomit or fecal matter is concerned. Used to if any of that was mentioned while he was eating, he would practically gag. Over the years his coworkers found this out and pulled out the words every chance they got. He finally overcame the gagging reflex at the mire mention of one of the 3 things.

Dh has decided that we need to go to Las Vegas in March to see the NASCAR race. It happens to be on my 60th birthday. So I guess that is what we are doing. I will let him take care of the details. In the meantime, I need to lose 5 lbs., so I can comfortably wear all my jeans, instead of just a few pair that are nice.

I need to buy groceries and run errands tomorrow. I last bought groceries on the 23rd. On the 27th I picked up RX's and while there bought bananas and a box of crackers for dd2's dip. I just haven't been in the mood to shop and deal with bargain shoppers.

Twins -- I am reading Mary Poppins, She Wrote: The Life of P.L. Travers, by Valerie Lawson. Well, actually, I have just barely started it.

I have not talked to dmom since I left her Saturday. Busy most of today w/errands and dgs. Surely she is okay or she would have called me. She has a speed dial thing on her phone now, a lanyard sort of thing she can wear, and it has two numbers pre-programmed into it -- mine and 911. So surely she is okay. I promise, I will call her first thing tomorrow.
