Hi everyone!

Just as I was falling asleep last night, Mike got home from going to visit his parents. He came in to the MBR and asked me about a few cruises. We had just gotten a flyer in the mail yesterday AND an email. Got up... checked flyer. Turned on computer and checked email. Checked prices on a few cruises, including Panama Canal cruises ending in Vancouver. Found something we liked going to Rome. Went back to bed... tried to sleep. Hahahaha! Finally fell asleep around 3 a.m. Alarm was set for 10 a.m. so Mike could call our travel agent.

Called travel agent, got 2 cabins on hold, called FIL. He loved the price, so he is calling the travel agent back to confirm.

Now Mike expects me to clean. Hahahahaha!

I DO have the filing stuff on the table in the other room, all the supplies required, etc. I'm going in with a rope tied around my waist in case of avalanche!

I'm sitting with a heated bean bag on my shoulder. Can't help but think of dSadie and hers. Mine was so constantly 'bad' last night that I couldn't lie still or get comfortable. Finally went to the recliner with a pillow to try to get comfortable. Took acetaminophen again this morning & I was pretty good until about 1/2 hour ago. Now it's non-stop pain. Has to be the weather. Can't even imagine what it would be like to spend the winter up home now.

Maybe we'll take a run over to see dbil/dsil later today. Haven't seen them since last Wednesday. Think dd & dsonil are going to see his Mom for a bit this afternoon. So a good time for us to go. Tomorrow dd, dh and I are going to see DB/Dsisil in the Villages -about 1 3/4 hours from here. Haven't seen them since last spring when we went north. They went up to stay with dniece & family for a week or two in early November.

Kathryn do hope your trip is totally restful and relaxing. What is your itinerary again?

Hello Dear Ladies,

Spent a good part of yesterday at the hospital for my pre-op. I had sticker shock when they went over the hospital charges with me   . glad I have insurance but it looks like my 5000 dollar deductible will be met at the hospital and then some. Paid a down payment on my part, and the rest they said they can work out with me in payments. Have paid the doctor.

They had me and another person with the same last name and the same letter beginning the first name. They had us side by side at the paperwork place and then in rooms side by side for blood draws. Sure hope they keep us straight.

Ivy, I am sending you a message with questions.

Going to compose it now.

Great day to all!

Happy New Years Eve everybody.

We rarely if ever go out New Year's Eve. I don't like to be on the roads. But today DSisil invited us over. DH's neice and family is in from Virginia, so we will get to see them before they go back. I must call to see if I can bring something. Not crazy that we are out driving tonight especially on the interstate.

Tomorrow we're going to a friend's house for snack/dinner. Need to check email on that, I asked what we can bring. I see a store run in the immediate future.

I've been working on spreadsheets. Grrrr. I deleted a whole bunch and organized the others in order by date so I can find them easier. Getting most of them done. One more and some notes on the last page and I am done. But I'm a bit brain dead now, ready to stop.

:P Trash cans are back in from the curb. One is re filled with leaves and yard trash. The hens always want some when I am loading that up so they got there's and are happily scratching in new leaves.

I baked them some corn bread with an apple that was past it's prime they will love that. I put a board over the acess hole in the loft I am thinking we need a couple more portable nest boxes for the loft area found another egg that did not thm make it into the nest box. (Cleaned the loft again too.) That hen needs some training! Another is broody sitting on 4 eggs sigh wondering how you train a hen?

I have evened up my bangs.

Oh I can so feel for you, Harmony. Especially when I think of the many years doing DS-A's books. So glad to have that behind me. However that doesn't mean I don't 'worry' from time to time. Couldn't help myself today....kept seeing notices about home owners applying for the STAR exemption in New York State. Finally had to ask our DSs if they had both applied. Today is the deadline. It can mean getting a $30,000 valuation off one's property for school taxes. In dh's and my situation, that of being Seniors, it meant a 50% discount in valuation. Considerable, especially if you missed filing.

Guess it is almost time to start gathering tax papers. How different it has to feel for Twins this year. But I'll wait for all that until after our church's annual meeting on the 19th of January.

DD and Dsonil are getting ready to go see his mom and are staying for dinner. Perhaps if I can get my shoulder feeling a little better we might go over to dbil/dsil's for a little while. DH wants to go to church tonight for the New Year's Eve service at 6:30 -that will be the extent of our 'celebrating'. We'll be back home, in bed long before midnight. We did use to go to party at one of dbil/dsil's neighbors back in the years they lived in Utica, NY. Been a long time since those. They moved to FL about a year after our nephew died back in '79.

Should go get my hair washed and 'done'. I'm off>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Waving to Everyone and Happy New Year's and New Year's Eve, too!

My right wrist is in a brace. I'm "trying" to crochet dgd's leg warmers and hat to ship on or by Jan. 2 or 3. :!: I hope I'll be able to crochet in baby steps with the brace. I have 3 - 4 days.

Sadie, I replied to your message. My very best to you on surgery day, too, and with PT afterwards, too. After it's all done, especially a year later, you're back to new. I saw improvements month by month within the year of surgery, too. You'll be glad you got it done. It helps so much.

Harmony, I hate riding in the car on holidays on the roads, too. Traffic, weather, and other drivers partaking of spirits too much. :!: But I'm sure you and your DH are safe drivers and look out for the other guy. With my DH driving and me back-seat driving, it's like 4-eyes on the road. 4 eyes are better than only 2, :)

I'll wave at everyone else. My wrist hurts. I need to catch a late shower, too. You enjoy the last day of the year and tomorrow we'll have a brand New Year! 2014! :P Imagine that! It seems like yesterday, we were just slipping into 2013! :!:

We have really exciting plans for New Years Eve, LOL... ;) ddil is working, ds is going to a gospel singing, and we will be babysitting. That is perfectly all right with me. We are not much on the party scene, either.

Started to put a long post on here re: telephone call w/dmom. I think I'll take it to J&C.

Besides depressing myself, and having some short words w/dh -- who is pretty much climbing the walls waiting on those tickets to arrive -- I have also been doing laundry and I am going to reconcile the bank statement as soon as I sign off here.

Hope y'all have a great New Year's Eve. I, for one, am definitely ready to be through with 2013. It has NOT been a very good year and I am certainly hoping 2014 will be an improvement -- especially for my dmom.
Tomorrow is another day.

Cathy, you and Mike sound like newlyweds! Up all night talking about future plans.

Hope BookSaver gets rest, desperately needed.

Feel better, Dove and dh!

((Dee)) for your shoulder, and so interesting that... ..

... ((Sadie)) (for your shoulder) pops in just after Dee's post. Oh, I am not surprised about sticker shock - things cost so much. Hopefully, you had very professional folks working with you who knew exactly how to handle similar-name situations. Prayers continue for your well-being and good experience medically and recuperatively. (is that a word?)

Trash pick up woes - here, as Wednesday-pick-up people on a Wednesday-holiday winter, we seem to have encountered a loop of "off" days for trash pick-up. Nothing happened all last week and isn't happening this week so far... ... yipes. At some point, they do remember our road, right? There is overflow... ... :?

helia, that is tough for your friend A, to have anxiety that is keeping her from the very social interaction she wishes she could have.

I am dealing with many Desk Day/estate things. Just the supposedly simple fact that my ddad owned a truck (remember how much he loved looking out the window at his truck, so we would never trade it) becomes complicated, even beyond requiring one of the fancy forms proving my executorship. I must take possession, legally, of the truck, even if we wanted to sell. But that entails transferring more and accomplishing more than I thought. State is frowning upon me  :( because the inspection time doesn't line up, calendar-wise, with the registration time. Sigh. Well, how can I help that when inspection place refused to inspect because it was too soon, saying the state wouldn't like that! :x What a hassle to be a good citizen. Anyway, truck is at this moment back to inspection place where we seem to have found a window of time everyone will accept. Sure hope they can get this done today, so that it won't be such a hassle to leave it over the holiday and then pick it up.

Insurance changeover has its own confusions. I want to place the truck onto our existing house/vehicle policy, and must be able to prove that before approaching DOT, and that's terrific with the insurance guy, BUT he has called here 4 times so far today and emailed twice, desperately trying to save me pennies each time. Yes, I'm exaggerating, but ... Sigh. Extra sighs. At one point I was wishing for a "let's get this over with" discount. All this and have also had a conversation with bank guy today as well, when he returned my earlier call.

 By the way, point of interest that might help someone else - we do not have an A D T or other type of monitored alarm system. Ya'll may recall, what we do have is single-door alarms on front and back doors which were installed by dstepson, very small, alarming only at the doors themselves. These were put in place in 2011 because of fears that my ddad would just walk away without our knowledge. Well, insurance man chides me and says we should have told him, because this deserves the same discount on an insurance policy as if we'd entered into contract with a big security monitoring company. Who knew. So, if anyone is hoping for a break on home insurance costs, check into single-door alarms and ask your agent.

I asked about the Guard Dog discount and he says as soon as he gets his Attack Cat discount, I'll be the first to know.
