HAPPY NEW YEAR WEDNESDAY!

Post by DeeClutter »

Happy New Year to everyone -wherever you are in this world.

Just getting ready to leave for my db's a couple of hours away. Blood sugar is very high (for me) this morning. Higher than it's probably ever been. Time to really cut back on what I'm eating I guess. Trying to figure out what I was eating yesterday. Will really be watching from here on out. Yikes!

Have a wonderful day each and every one of you!
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Henna-ing my hair today is my main task, along with travel prep, and putting away Christmas.

The henna process is long and complicated. And messy. My bathroom will get a thorough cleaning afterwards.

So I'm sitting here, trying to get up the nerve to do it. I will take before and after photos, not sure if I'll post them. I've chosen buttercup blonde which is a strange colour to choose since my childhood hair colour was copper and I used to use mahogany henna. My reasoning is that natural henna doesn't do well with grey and if you are over 20% grey you should use a dye-infused version, or just go with clear for the shine. I want a bit of colour so I'm hoping the blonde will add shine to the brown hairs and golden highlights on the not fully white hairs. And then some shiny white left. That's the plan, I have no idea if I'll achieve it. I'm doing this today because I won't be seeing too many people (at least without a hat on!) before I go away. It will wash out before I get home and then I can decide if I want to do it again and have people in my daily life notice.

Good morning, villagers ~
Happy New Year!

We had a quiet evening as planned. I've already looked at FB photos this morning and first thought, "Oh, I wish I'd gone to that party, looks like it was a lot of fun." Then I looked out the window at the snowy roads and remembered that I have a lot more fun at non-winter parties when I don't have to worry about road conditions for driving home late at night.

Today's 6x6 in addition to 3Ds:
* Revive 3x5 card file to get Back In The Box (BITB)
* Clear space in my office
* Plan menus for a couple of weeks & write shopping list
* Take trash & recycling out to the garage (check city site for next pickup)
* Month-end financial report for library group (schedule sewing group's financials for Friday)
* OMM list of household projects, coordinate with our FOCUS cleaning & decluttering weekly threads

Yes, those sound like proper start-the-year-right projects. :geek: :) (Let's see how long my good intentions last ...)

A friend posted on FB this morning that he had successfully avoided eating chocolate all year long -- meaning that as of the time he woke up this morning and turned on his computer, he had not had any chocolate in 2014! Hey, we celebrate any victories that come our way, right?

Happy New Year, all!! I can't believe it is already 2014. Looking ahead, this year holds: hopefully a surprise 50th bday party for dh in early Feb. (his bday is in Jan. 28), high school graduation for dd18 in June, hopefully a trip to Hawaii w/ dh in June (joining him at a conference there - I did this 2 years ago also, wonderful trip!), celebrating dfil's 90th birthday in the Netherlands in July, dd18 starting University in Sept., a fall marked by just one child in the house :!: (in contrast to 3 this year w/ GG here - and 4 when ds is home, like now) - and that child hopefully able to drive herself to all her activities, figuring out sabbatical details next fall for winter 2015, and many other things which I don't know about yet. . . . . My personal goal is to improve in what I'm calling "self-management," developing more healthy habits, cutting back on unhelpful habits/thought patterns, and responding in more healthy ways to stress/negative input. I'm hoping altogether it will be a good year!

Fondues both turned out really well!! Yummmmm......... We ran out of bread for the cheese fondue, but had plenty of veggies (brussel sprouts and cauliflower) for it. We ate all the bananas and strawberries for the chocolate fondue, but had a few rice krispie treats and marshmallows left over. It was nice to catch up with S and R. I think we're not going to do Th. dinner, this week, though, since we just had them over.

The party last night was truly pleasant. We did find some people we knew! A lot of the guests were profs in dh's dept. I also chatted a whlie with the parents of one of dd15's past friends from elem. school. We also met a couple new to us and spent a lot of time chatting with them. Very nice unpretentious people. She is an artist and he works with the host dh. We got home about 11:45 to ring in the new year with the kids, who were all watching a movie.

Late start this morning. I'm going to stock up on toiletries at Meijer today, try to get caught up on some things around here, like towel and bedding laundry and paperwork. I may go to a movie - I haven't decided. I also need to spend some time reading and thinking about my teaching. I believe I will have 4 weeks. . . I don't think the other teacher will take more than 2 weeks. I'm actually hoping she'll take 2 weeks. I just don't want to take on 5 weeks in a row. . .

Off to the a.m. routine. . .

Good Morning Dear Ladies,

Happy New Year!

It is sunny here, great start to a new year. Temps are heading into the 50's.

Work day for me. Am picking up the house a bit and made some lunch.

Still thinking and planning for upcoming surgery. Thought about getting myself a small pair of tongs to use to help me pull up my underwear and pants.

Work day for me too.

Great day to all!

[ ] call bank to confirm auto-deposit of my check
[ ] exercise
[ ] get clothes together for trip
[ ] call dmom, wish her happy new year, try not to make her cry again today
[ ] tonight, maybe, supper w/ds-ddil-dgs and movie w/dh
Tomorrow is another day.

Forgot to take the "before" picture. May not bother with an after. Not sure I can see any difference. Hair feels only slightly softer but the kinky grey springy hair is still there so I will still need to straighten each day. (I only straighten after I wash my hair, so every second day, but on the ship I usually wash daily because of dressing for dinner.) It might had a bit more colour, we'll see when I take the photos.

Got my toiletries basically done for the trip. For 42 days, I need to take way more than usual so will have two plastic bags of things to bring, rather than my usual one.

I've had my leftovers for lunch and finished off one of the cheese spreads (part of my clean out the fridge effort) so need to go back and continue packing. Medicines are next.

Back in from the hen house cleaned the loft did not find any broken eggs and the count was up to 12 yesterday saw 2 of the new ones in nest boxes checking them out so that was an encouraging sign!

Took down one decorations and one string of lights not being used in the coop.

Still need to journal.
