helia, it's the sweet spot for running now, weather fine all day, right? :-) The one thing I really miss from USA - wholewheat cinnamon cereal! Still remember it, though not the brand :-(
L.Ann, I will have to go back to where you posted the schedule - I thought you'd have your mornings to yourself and do the afternoons?

Other than the office, the house is clean - as in no trash, clean floors, clean bathrooms, dusted etc. There's still items in places where they have no business being, but now I need to take care of the weekly groceries, and when I get back, fold/iron/put away laundry and then pack. It's not like the stuff will have gotten lost before I attend to it! :-)

TaDas
- lunch
- midday routine
- clean kitchen
- general pick up
- laundry flipped to dryer
- get access to school app - didn't get transferred from old phone to new
- buy kids' transportation passes

ToDos

- plan for September
cleaning
- defrost garage freezer
- clean twins' room (oversee it done)
- clean DS15's room (oversee it done)

Right now just before school, Trissie. Little Bit goes to one of the later starting elementary schools so she has school from 9-3:45. Our county/state provides bus transportation so she will get picked up and dropped off at the end of her road. Because she is in kindergarten an adult has to be there to meet her or they take her back to school.

argh, I left with a spotless kitchen, and less than two hours later, I return to dirty dishes and pans in the sink, crumbs all over and an empty cereal box on the counter. That is the part I really did not miss when the kids were gone!

L.Ann, that schedule makes sense for you then! I do however wonder how other parents do it if they have to both work from early mornings and don't have grandmas available? It sure would be a problem for us!

Hi, all. I had great plans to be out of the apartment well before now, and am not only hopelessly late, but have used up my knees before the outing starts. So I'm recalculating, what should I keep trying to get done today, what has to get put off for another day etc.

You are right, Gma. Germane slept well after her adventures yesterday.

Thanks, Kittykatt, for your compliment and for starting us off with another lovely bird.
Believe me, I am not car savvy. My impressive diagnostic skills came from Reddit and the car's manual, LOL.
Yesterday sounds like a great day: a nice service, lunch and vet visit. I hope that today is as good.

I can totally relate, trissie. I would normally be scrambling to get my laundry done by Friday, but I still have laundry on the laundry cart from last weekend that may or may not be dry. I can't explain it, as I don't have a family to pick up after, a cottage to organize or a full time job. I'm not surprised that you feel behind. I'm always impressed with how much you get done.

It sounds like you have things well organized for Little Bit, L.Ann. It's good that she is enjoying school.

That teacher sounds like a great person, helia.

Friday
Put on a pot of coffee
3 X 15:
Cleaned up after Germane:
Picked up all of her pee pads, bagging and discarding the used ones
Flushed her poop, then remembered that I was supposed to bring her fecal sample to animal hospital
Washed the linoleum, as she had peed uphill of her pee pads too
Saw that Germane had considerately done a new fecal sample right by the front door where I could pick it up on my way out
Turned back the linoleum and started cutting off the parts where she had peed under and wet the backside
Tried to pull up the remains of one entire piece of linoleum
Moved furniture, tried to hold up the exercise bike with one hand while tugging on the linoleum with the other
Went down in flames, sweat, panting
Got increasingly desperate as my plan of leaving an hour ago to take the car to the parts store keeps sliding further and further out of reach
Just cut the wet parts of the linoleum
Bagged them
Moved the furniture back
Laid new pee pads
Found a small container
Labelled it
Collected fecal sample
Cleaned floor

The need for an adult or person 13 or over to be at the bus stop ends after kindergarten, Trissie although each state has its own age kids can be home alone. In Maryland kids have to be 8 or older but in Utah where my other daughter is it is up to the parents discretion. Lots of people have to have before and after school daycare.

I have a book for you Dogged. Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth. The prologue starts with the 81 year old narrator saying, “It’s interesting to note that there are two groups of people who are rarely, if ever, suspected of murder. The groups are elderly women and little girls….. I’ve always liked to think I was special.”

DD33 says she ate a big lunch and isn’t going to want to dinner so I need to pivot dinner plans.

Hello, everyone!

Trissie, how frustrating to leave a perfectly clean kitchen and.come.home to mayhem. I hope you have a lovely time at the cottage.

Helia, LOL at the Girls' breakfast choices!

L.Ann, you sound very organised. I'm glad Little Bit is enjoying school.

Dogged,.I'm impressed you can make sense on of the owner's manual. Once, many years ago, I needed to put some more water in the car, but wasn't sure where it needed to go. So I found the so-called diagram of the engine in the handbook. And turned it round 180 degrees... and then round again. And was still unable to determine where the water should go as the diagram looked nothing like real.life. I was so terrified of getting it wrong and "breaking". something, that in the end I just have up and decided someone else could deal.with it.

It's been a good day, despite the rain mid morning. But I used that time to place the cat food order for Jude, order some biscuits for church and some more food for Mica. And when I eventually got out into the garden, I had a very productive time there. DF CW is back home safely, and DH had a good time at the beer festival. Freddie had my lap earlier, and Matilda is the occupier now.

The UK goldfinch has a red face. The American goldfinch has a black face. The male is that striking bright yellow, the female is duller, with a greenish cast. Both look much like sparrows during the winter.

I scrubbed my bathroom and hall floors last evening. it felt so good to walk on clean floors this morning. At least in that paart of the house.
I am hopeful for good news about the apartment - father came to look on behalf of his daughter, who is headed to graduate school 12 miles away. I hope it works out for them. he was very positive about it. I've been praying for just the right tenant, who really needs a good place.
Dsis3 and I went to the regional lumber yard and found that indeed I can find a light blue nearly the same as mother's house, so I don't have to worry about changing colors. What a relief. Neighbor who had a lovely light blue house - I think I have already mentioned, have changed siding to dull greenish grey. or greyish green, depending on your perspective! I thought they might have done it because they couldn't find the right color light blue... Maybe they just didn't look hard enough.

We're having supper with ds and dil tonight. Bringing corn and watermelon. They are providing beans and tomatoes from their garden, and he's smoking some kind of meat on his grill.
I love having my family here.
