Sewing retreat was a lot of fun, although I did not actually get to do much sewing. As one of the "hostesses" for this one, I spent most of the time in an apron in the kitchen. Luckily, I love to cook. Not at all relaxing, though. Now I need a vacation from the "retreat."

I did get a few things cut out. I'm happy with that much because I don't have the space to cut fabric at home.

The weather was beautiful, surprisingly warm 70s-80s for March. We couldn't open any windows, but left the door open the whole time.

Looking forward to another retreat in October, which 3 other people are responsible for organizing. I will only be required to help prepare and clean up 1 meal during that weekend, and the rest of the time will be my own. In theory. I'll believe it when I see it.

Book recommendation: Clara's Kitchen: Wisdom, Memories, and Recipes from the Great Depression by Clara Cannucciari. Written when Clara was 93 or 94 years old, charming memories & recipes from her childhood days in the 1930s. Simple, basic recipes "from nothing" -- although the family must have had a wonderful garden. The book has had terrific reviews on Amazon, too.

I've also been re-reading an old favorite, The Talisman Ring by Georgette Heyer. Mystery/romance set in Regency era England.

Just got a phone call that church has been cancelled. It is snowing up the mountain and the roads are closed. It is drippy rain and very cloudy here - a bit of a chilly wind blowing. My transplanted plants look happy from the rain.

Just looked out and we can't even see the mountains so it would NOT be fun driving up the hill today.

I am off to dishes and laundry which I neglected last week as I was working in the yard. We go to carving at 1.

Done with s2s and bed made upstairs. Also put away some clothes left out and did a general MBR clean up. I'm considering a.m. routine done, for the first time in an eon. In about 30 minutes, I'm going to head to the nail place to get a pedicure.

Until then:
-reboot laundry
-do a refrigerator purge and check for groc list
-refill meds containers

Back from two church services. While we were away, the choir from the other church came over to our church to sing each Sunday, so we went over to the second service to sing in their choir (they only had two people in the choir this week.) It was fun to see everyone.

We are considering going to Vegas after church next weekend. Except I can't go until Wednesday so all this is up in the air.

The weather is gorgeous here, 72 and sunny. We are awaiting word from ds to see if he wants to go down to the seaway for fish and chips. He's at work right now and might have to work the overnight too. If that is the case, he'll have to go home to sleep. If not, he's in.

Dd is away so we can't call her for her birthday. I've sent a facebook message asking for a number where we can contact her. At least we didn't forget. Dh even remembered to with me a happy birthing day this morning when we woke up. (That's something he learned from the SHE boards.)

The laundry just buzzed so I'll go hang out the first load and start a second load.

Church was wonderful. I really enjoyed the fellowship and music.

Booksaver - Thanks for sharing that favorite book. I enjoyed reading online about Clara Cannucciari. After reading the reviews I ended up ordered 2 of her books to give as gifts to DMIL & DMom

I'm messaging & shopping online with DGS14 for his middle school graduation outfit. it is a slow process to select each piece. so far we have narrowed down vest, tie and hanky. Back forth....back forth...do you like this one or that one? Have you looked at this one? Thankfully we have a couple months so we can enjoy the process of clothing selection for it.

No word from friend about getting together. I know she is in a flurry of getting things done today before surgery tomorrow....and starting chemo/radiation soon afterwards. Her last "normal" day for awhile. Makes everything in my upcoming schedule look extremely easy!!

The clouds lifted off the mountains and they are covered in snow. Looks soooooo neat.

I went out to take a picture and the wind cut right thru me. It felt like I was back in IL with the wind off the lake. Brrrrrrrr!

I have about 1/2 hour before I have to go to carve. I'm going to find some warm clothes to wear as I don't think they will have the furnace on there and not many people there to generate heat.

Home again - not a very satisfying trip but I did get toes done. The nail place opened at noon, not one, so they had a lot of people in front of me when I got there. Got to sit and soak my feet for a very long time, which was definitely good for the parts that are turning in to hooves. She spent a lot of time on the calluses and rough parts, but the place was very noisy and I was about to lose my mind by the time I got out.

I did a quick run through Wal-mart - we're going to do burgers on the grill tonight so I needed buns and a few other things. I also found a raunchy gag gift for the one women partner in the company I work for - "Create your own Power Balls" just walking around looking at things - one could call that creative time?

Fresh start -boy do I need one of those!

Had a wonderful day yesterday with dfriends in Ocala. Won't see them now until the end of June I think. They'll be up north for a few days in early May -but before I get there. The couple across the street from us up home and about 10 miles from us here, phoned yesterday to say they have to be up north so he can start work (golf course) April 2nd. He usually doesn't start until May. Owner of campground and his wife left yesterday to go home. Am I the only one staying south?

DH is supposed to go to Englewood, FL to go fishing in the Gulf on Wednesday. Looking at the weather report though it looks like it may be too breezy (10-15mph). The skipper won't go out if he thinks it'll be too rough and that's okay with us!

DD took gd to the RV show at the state fairgrounds in Tampa this afternoon. I chose to stay home and clean the kitchen. This is the end of spring break so they'll be going back to school tomorrow.

Finished our taxes and sent them off to our tax man the end of the week. Keeping fingers crossed that there's a refund in the offing.

Focus this week has to be getting DH packed to go home. He'll leave March 29th now. Managed to get him an affordable ticket on D e l t a. Feel lucky since it's so close to Easter.

Continuing to wait to hear good news about dINdiana.

I had a wonderful nap with my ddogs and now need to do a few more rounds to finish off the day.

-reboot laundry
-put away a large basket of laundry
-water one or two plants I missed earlier
-feed the poor starving dogs
-clean out my car

OKay, what did the police do with the guy who caused the accident? I wonder if they drug/alcohol tested him. Sorry about your friend with the bad health news. Always hard to see a friend in trouble.

Dee, why do you stay here when your DH goes back north instead of going with him? Surely its getting warmer up there by now?

This morning was church. I ran a couple errands, got some things at grocery we needed right away and then went back to pick up DH. After I cleaned up the house, washed dishes, etc., I went to the sewing room for a bit. I'm trying to get all that piecing done as that's the messy part. I'll need to put everything away before all the little kiddos get here, I can just imagine the mess if I didn't.

We got the crib out of the closet and put it together. Also got the high chair out of other closet and pushed that out to the dining room. Monday is a big day for me, I have a list a mile long of stuff to do, cooking, shopping, gardening, cleaning. I have to be all done and ready with stuff by Tuesday evening for our first wave of guests. I've already picked up a birthday card and gift for Thursday, and a wedding card for Saturday so I won't have to do that on Monday too.

Phew! I guess if I just keep on pushing ahead I'll get it all done.
Sure hope Indiana is getting well.
