Wow, that's great, bittersweet! Marathon sessions are cool so much to be happy about afterwards. I'll be thinking of the 2 of you for the next few hours. Hope you get a lot accomplished. Actually 3 of you at dd's.

Church was enjoyable and meaningful today. I'm so glad I went. But dd stayed in the bed, and I think HRH had his hands full with my ddad needing several things. Nevertheless, by the time I walked in the house he had a good lunch ready. Afterward, of course, they are "my" dishes!

Norma, I would gain so much weight if friends were picking out Italian restaurants to share with me!!!! But what fun.

The compliment I heard about War Horse recently was the expert handling of animals so that no animal was hurt during the rather chancy shooting of the movie. Accidents do happen on a set, so they did well and deserve to be complimented. Even human actors have accidents with everyone trying hard to avoid it. William Shatner's tinnitus started with an explosion on an early "away" set of Star Wars. Vic Morrow was killed on a movie set. Margaret Hamilton was badly burned making Wizard of Oz.

Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. It was a good day, even though I didn't do anything special. Phone calls from dcousin and dsis and cards from two other friends. I always talk to dmother, I'm a little concerned about her. She, by her own admission, isn't doing as well as she had been. Guess that's to be expected at almost 93, but when it's your mother, it is hard. Something we all have to go through, right?

Today I must start on a long overdue project. My daunt, who passed away in 1997, has some unclaimed money that I need to see about getting distributed to her heirs. It involves quite a few people, so I've been dragging my feet. The amount of money isn't much, I've estimated my share to be under $50. My hourly wage for taking care of it will be well under minimum. Oh well..... Guess everyone figures I have the time, being retired and all.........

Nancy, I hope your open house goes well. Keeping your house in "show ready" condition is stressful, isn't it?

I copy to my computer quotes, etc. I want to remember. I'm thinking a file would be better, more tangible somehow. I seldom go to the files on the computer, but think I would if the "profound thoughts' were written on cards. Add that to my TTD list.

Glad to hear Indiana is doing so well. I've missed her posts.

OKay, I love hearing about your days. You pack so much into them. Awesome that your dgs16 will talk to you, you have a special relationship with your dgc. Priceless.

Hello everybody. It is cloudy here, rained an hour last night and a few minutes steady downpour this morning. I'm grateful for the rain and the peacefulness of a grey day. I'm sure the one couple still visiting around here is wishing for more sun though, and our family who traveled south to an island might have wished for better, too.

(Lilac) I'm thinking about you a lot with the house to sell...I'm sorry your deal seems to be slipping away. We had a few of those, but I never felt comfortable with any of those deals at the time anyway. It will happen for you, it all just takes time.

OKay, I am always impressed at the quality of the time you put into your family relationships.

I am in house recovery mode here. I'm not quite half done with my desk chores (they were stacked up badly). Another set of sheets is washed and hanging as is a big load of towels. It's humid, they'll take a long time.

We had church this morning and DH came home and fell asleep before eating. He is worn out from all the people and excitement the past few days. He did several marathon sessions of kickball with the kids outside, we danced a bit last night, and he is showing the strain of extra activity. I can't believe the difference...we used to go non-stop but seems no longer can. One good thing, I was able to manage high heels (2 1/2" I think) all evening, even standing outside for the wedding where there was not enough chairs for all. Boy, felt good to get those shoes off, but I did it for the first time since my feet problems.

Harriet, DH has 2 other nice ties but they were pretty old as was his belt. As he wasn't wearing a suit, we tried to dress up everything else. He liked the tie but had to follow the diagram for tying on the back of the packing label. That's how long it's been since we've dressed up for anything.

How I spent my spring break. (Not recommended)

On Thursday the 15th I had a wonderful day. I went to the council meeting and felt great. I felt as if my health had turned around.

Then wham. I began to black out. I called for help. Security took Jake and got him to the vet in the morning.

Ambulance came for me. They wasted no time getting me on the ambulance. I was critical and going fast. Er began working on me immediately. In total I was short 6 units of blood. My inr was too high and it allowed an old ulcer to bleed.

I started getting zapped because my potassium was too low. I got two small zaps. The Doctor came into the room each time and asked if I felt it. The next one was a kick in the chest one. He came in the room before it went off but he could see it was going to go off. As I was blacking out I said now and was hit. I got the kick in the chest one 4 times.

Thankfully there aren't any nerves around your heart. It doesn't hurt it just takes my breath away and makes my chest contract. I was taken in about 7 pm and they called my dniece at 4 am saying they couldn't get me stable and I was still critical. She was to call whoever needed to know.

Once I became stable then I got better quickly.

My medical team was awesome. One of my night nurses had wanted to be a chef before he decided to be a nurse. I was watching the food-network and we were talking how chefs has tattoos. He had a special one that he showed. It is a beautiful tree beginning with his grandparents and then his parents and his kids. No names just something special that made him think of that person. I don't care for tattoos but this one was fabulous.

I always had a good time with the nurses and aides.

One night a nurse I had for a few nights came in to say she would be off. She took my hand in both of hers and looked at me and said she had a some rough nights and she was glad I was her patient. When she came in my room the world became better. I teared up. I understood the work load they are under. I would say I'm going to say ow. I said don't worry unless I say stop.

The lab techs were so happy I know my body. I only have one arm that can be used for blood pressure cuff, IVs, and lab draws. Well when they are running 4 IVs in one arm it is hard to find a spot. I think I have been in the hospital too often. I could say - how many tubes? Then I would say use this spot. If it was a lower number needed then it was a different spot. They had no trouble.

Unfortunately in ER they had to use my lymphedema arm for an IV and blood pressure cuff. My arm blew up. We were able to stop using that arm and it deflated. MY IVs kept leaking so they had to start new ones.

I was only gone for a week and was ablt to notice changes outside.

The trees are blooming, the 3 water foundations are in, and the ducks are coming and going.

Indiana, I am thrilled that you are able to come in and tell us about what you did on your spring break. I am thrilled for Jake to find normalcy along with you now, and hopefully a little more each day. I am thrilled for your dniece and all family to get to do that wonderful rake-the-back-of-hand-across-forehead "WHEW" and find out you only needed the hospital a week and got better so quickly. Forgive my ignorance - so a digestive ulcer began bleeding and time passed until it became a serious problem?

Emptynester, what fun to see photos and read up on the doin's. I love the bell tower and the architecture of the lighthouse. You did so much work on the overgrown areas. I would have been so indecisive.

We had a surprise this morning in church in that our letter of transfer from our old church came thru. So now we are members of the little church up the hill.

It is cloudy and windy today so I don't think I am going to work outside. I might go up to the Activities Center as this is Bead week and I want to see what the people are making.

Or I might just take a nap in my chair.

I was feeling pretty 'low' and came here and saw Indiana posting and said, "WOW!" So good to see you feeling better and getting back to normal, dIndiana!

Lot of things running around in my head right now. Not the least of which is the fact that I got a text about 3pm from DS-R saying something about leaving on a cruise from Miami. WHAAT?????? Wait a minute! We were so confused. Nothing has been said about them going on a cruise. Then dh came in and admitted to me (highly unusual for him) that he's very concerned that they've gone on a cruise and didn't tell anyone beforehand. Of course that extreme worry about ddil transferred to me. Hopefully he is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Even he says that.

DD and DSIL went to a seminar with perks this afternoon. We vowed we'd never go on another one of those after Branson, MO. More power to them. We've been sitting gd.

This was dh's last Sunday at church (here) -he leaves for home on Thursday. Wish I were going too. Have no idea what I'll do for the next 6 weeks. Well, the last week will be filled with last minute visits and getting ready to go north.

Haven't finished CUOP. Dkids are finally off and dh and I are back home. I had a very nice afternoon nap - had lunch with dd and N and his family (his sisters are dd's best friends) and was ready to nap afterwards. Dh got home in time to see dd off also.

Comcast repair guy (actually two) were here this afternoon and internet, TV and phone are all back in operation, thank goodness.

Dh is grilling burgers for us.

Have had an ongoing email discussion about the appropriateness of including something in temple bulletin, I think the vote has finally gone down in agreement that it's not appropriate.

Now that dkids are gone, I need to do some house spiffing.

Well we survived another open house. The weather couldn't have been better and some of my bulbs even opened! Only one melt down not by me! Realtor said all comments were positive and she liked how it looked and the yard looked best she's ever seen it. So that's good news. A couple of things she said were I"ll believe it when I see it! Am I jaded or what?

Glad to read the no horses were hurt in the making of the movie "War Horse" we really enjoyed it last night.

I did a short walk to get the kink out of my hip that hit just after I finished the last chore today so glad it was not before that. Glad that the realtor used rose room freshener that I had here ~ instead of baking cookies!

We had lunch with hubby's free meal card at our local taco stand while the open house was going on H. was in a read the paper out loud mode today I just tried to ignore it and kept checking my watch doing the count down to when we could come back home! LOL!

Realtor tour on Wed. morning hoping to get the fridge cleaned before then maybe the stove too. Gives us a bit of incentive!

Looking forward to the 2 hr. season premiere of Mad Men tonight.

Next up a bit of mending and hand wash got sauce on my shirt at lunch it's been shouted now time to soak it.
