I've I have swept the drive way and brought the trash can back from the curb. Getting the kinks out. H. has a cough today and yesterday did not get up very early either day. The plan for lunch is grilled chicken breasts as it's our only nice day thought we should take advantage of the sunshine.

Lunch is eaten. I forgot to bring my decaf tea bags and got charged $2.50 for a Sprite. YIKES!!! Won't do that again.

So glad to see all is going well with MT and DH.

We enjoyed a picnic by the lake at noon today. Fishing tackle & poles stayed at home so it was easy to pack and go.

Just finished setting up appointment with fella to update MPB camera/security system. This is our 2nd go-round with configuration and we now know a bit more than we did when we originally set it up. I'm looking forward to the end results.

Naaah... haven't done anything else. Made the bed. Did a load of laundry. Paid the bug lady. Read a bunch in a new novel. Fussed w/dh. He says maybe I should NEVER retire.

Day also went downhill w/an invitation to an engagement party, which we pretty much feel like we MUST attend, but we're really not close to the people who are giving it... it will be much more "social" than what we are comfortable with... and we don't even know how to dress, LOL!!! I will have to get dsisil's guidance on this -- probably "dressy/casual" but what does that mean, exactly??? It is at someone's home, not a country club or anything... and it is on a Saturday night. Are gifts given at engagement parties? I feel very ignorant.
My idea of social is blue jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, lawn chairs, banjos and guitars.
I do NOT think this party will include ANY of those items.

It's been busy around here and I've been under the weather again. Work picked up, not actual work, but the paperwork, phone, bids part of things. I had to make a couple trips out to jobsite to transport people around and this place is a far ride.

Friday night the youth group was here for a bonfire. Sat. was busy with church things, I helped with a baby shower for very poor family who needed help. I went early to help set up and ended up taking that time to clean up after toddler who knocked over tall floor lamp with glass globe. Many shards of glass everywhere.

Sunday was church and trip out to look at job, then I started to feel bad again and things got worse all day...Monday was the pits, I stayed up till afternoon then gave up and went to bed. I was up and down all night so today I am super tired but finally feeling a little better.

I got caught up in the kitchen, and Mon. morning I had my desk looking ok, but 2 mail deliveries later it's stacked again. I think I need to lay down again...

I just took Kathryn's recent advice to Elizabeth and entered my full question on Google and took the first link.

lucylee, another option would be to purchase an appropriate gift card, place in nice but small envelope with the couple's names, and have dh carry it in his breast pocket until you see what others are doing and how you feel about it. If you realize the gesture would be out of place, he can just keep carrying it right back home again and you'd lose little. But, really, with gifts expected at shower(s) and wedding, what would you give at an engagement moment, anyway? It would be in POOR taste to give household items unless the engagement will be quite brief.. ....

No more stitches. I took them all out myself. A friend here was a wound nurse. She was going to do it when she got back from her trip today. But I just did it. She checked to make sure I didn't leave anything behind.

Maybe I should have left them in forever because now it itches. All it takes is with the flat of my hand to go lightly rub my jeans where the wound is underneath and it stops.

A couple of the maintenance guys and I were talking outside about the pond. The three fountains are suppose to keep the geese away. I told them they take a shower under them every morning. They had babies in the pond last year so I should be seeing some. The mallards too.

We have two seagulls fishing in the pond in the early afternoon and catching fish.

So far dh has had 6 episodes which he has recorded. I woke up at 2:30 to the sound of the machine recording his heart. He had done a record earlier in the evening and had me listen to it so I wouldn't be startled in the night. Each day, he uploads the info off the machine to the office. There's only enough space to record 6 items so over the weekend he'll have to be selective about what he records.
