I realize that I take great comfort in HRH. He drives me crazy in many ways, and I roll my eyes about him every day. But when I get worried or anxious, he's the one I want to talk to. I also take great comfort in dd13, who is still enough of a child to make me feel very important in her eyes, but now enough of a budding young lady that she's great help and company when we are out in the world. I am comforted to see her beginning to take comfort in her faith.
There must be a lot of comfort in this village for me, too, because I don't think I would turn my computer on so faithfully every morning if all I had to look forward to was news and weather!!! As it is, I feel strange if I can't "drop in" here and find the comfort of familiar voices. I had occasion to "search" a website I frequented for a few months until my mother got so sick, and find the few long threads on which I had posted and chatted. That was good for me - I gleaned some wisdom from myself, lol. It was a nice group of people, too. But their interest was specific, and therefore fleeting, and did not include interest in each other, really. When checking their profiles, I found that even though the site had grown, the people I remember weren't posting any more. So the type of connection we have here is very comforting.
c2c, as my ddad and I turned around on his walk and started back toward the house yesterday, I think I felt comfort in walking near my house, too. I don't think it's comfort in the building, but comfort in the family/home.
Kathryn mentioned snuggly things are comforting. A couple years ago I posted in A, C and N thread a study that showed people taken into a strange room would gravitate toward a quilt. No matter where a quilt was placed in an unfamiliar room, subjects tended to sit or stand near it. Yay, textiles!
Is this too high a horse? Ya'll may need to get me down from here... ...
I was shocked last night as HRH was watching "Undercover Boss" on TLC, to see that Sub Way has started heavy sponsorship of that show where 4 women all say they are married to that one man, and he goes from one to another, has children with 3. This was a "Sub Way brings you ________ at (time and date)" specific sponsor-show link. ??? Am I crazy, or is it a shock Sub Way would so directly align themselves with a program about illegal and extremely questionable life choices for women/girls? HRH said I was over-reacting. (I don't mean to be questioning religion. I'm questioning ANYONE showcasing illegal things, plus what I consider the sexist suggestion of a man shown as this type of patriarch while the women of the same family are shown expecting to settle for quarter-marriages.) Sub Way is dd13's favorite-favorite restaurant by FAR. I really need them to be the company I think they are... ...
I made the DPC. eeewwww. Nice to have those type of things out of the way.
