Very quiet day in the village. Dh and I went out to a funeral this morning. This one in a heavy rain. We went back to temple for the meal of consolation, and then went to walk through the new house again. Back home this afternoon, I got a long nap. We were going to go see my mom, and perhaps take her to dinner, but she has had a tummy virus going and would prefer that we not visit today.

One of the sayings I've heard from my dmom, is "Cain't never did anything." "Cain't" being Can't, of course, but it's pronounced with a southern accent...In other words, if you think you can't, you can't. Mom attributes that to her mother, so that's a two generation phrase!

The result of ds's room cleaning is impressive - he filled up outside garage garbage can, left a stack of stuff in our bed room that he thinks we might like to keep, and left a big pile of stuff at the bottom of the stairs to take to Goodwill or elsewhere. So I need to clear up those piles of stuff at some point. Today would be ideal since the cleaning lady is coming tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll get it done. (Thinking I might move it into the room that is dh's office and is pretty junky, and then work from there? It's pouring rain, so I don't want to go through it now and move it directly into my car for drop off.)

So I think I'm going to do a few rounds here - usual Sunday type stuff and get ahead for the week.
I hate leaving a mess for the cleaning lady.
-kitchen table clean up
-move ds' stuff into dh's office which adjoins the bottom of the steps where ds left the stuff. (I'm pretty sure the fire marshall would not approve as the steps are nearly blocked.)
-finish the clean up of the garage refrigerator which I started on Friday
-hot kitchen counter

Of course, not in one simple statement that I can type out in a short sentence, but dmom has ALWAYS instilled in me the belief in prayer and faith, and the fact that God IS in control; He has a plan, and we just have to trust and sometimes be patient while He works out His will for us. That has held me through a lot of anxious moments.

My mother in sooo many ways truly does remind me of a cross between Melanie Wilkes & Ellen O'Hara. She never seems to gossip or criticize others, she has unending patience and strength, and her calm in the face of physical or emotional adversity is simply amazing. Like Scarlett, someday, I hope to be like my mother... a great lady.

It has been a pretty good Mother's Day... lunch @ local steak house w/dmom, ds, ddil, and dh. Ddad couldn't come b/c he has been having trouble w/nosebleeds! Platelets are a bit low, but not low enough that they wanted to give blood on Friday.
We went out to their house for about an hour after lunch. DH is a little frazzled, but that is his modus operandi (sp? LOL) on holidays. * sigh *
Now, need to go to dmil's.

On a different topic -- does anyone have any words of wisdom re: the "speed up my pc" websites? Something needs to change around here! DH is constantly complaining about the slowness of our computer & I've done disk cleanup already! Watching a YouTube video is a very frustrating exercise in futility.
AOL offers a 30-day trial w/their computer clean-up/speed-up service, but after 30 days, it will be $4.99 a month. Which is worth it, IF it works?
Any advice?

Sorry I haven't been back. I have having trouble with asthma and my lungs today.

My Dmom said:

Get your work done early in the morning so you have the rest of the day free. Her mother and her mother's mother said the same thing.

Had a great visit with my friend. This time, he could take time to talk so I met his small congregation over the meet and greet, then we had a long chat over lunch with some of his larger congregation before going our separate ways.

The drive went flawlessly despite my forgetting to take a map. I stopped in the town that has the larger church and got directions at a gas station. Even with the stop, I still beat my friend to church by 15 minutes. I've driven over 235 miles in total today.

The evening was less flawless.

First, I called and talked to dd for over an hour. That took up precious time. Then I pulled off my shoes and hose to discover my big toes' polish was wrecked. Then the phone kept ringing and people wanted to chat. I left the house 45 minutes later than I had wanted to AND I still hadn't eaten. I grabbed chili on the way to the hotel and ate quickly.

I brought nail polish remover and the red polish and put one coat on. That is still drying so I have to stay up even later than I had hoped. Luckily the room is warm so I should be able to sleep with my feet out from under the covers.

I'll leave the polish and remover in my car in the morning. Along with my underwear from tonight.

I doubt I'll have time to post much this week. I haven't even had time to cuop yet today and the minister and I will be sharing my computer.

When anyone gets an owie or needs a hug....DMom says in a sing-song way...

She also frequently says "it will be alright"

Great day today! Church was excellent this morning and I enjoyed sitting next to DH, DBro, DSis and a slew of nieces and nephews. Went to DMIL and enjoyed DH side of the family having fish cookout. Then finished up the day at DParents and had supper together.

LucyLee - shot in the dark.....wondering if it could be the anti-virus slowing the pc down? When i switched to Microsoft essentials it seemed to speed my pc's up.
