Sending lots of (((feel better soon))) wishes to Kathryn!
My allergy symptoms seem to be improving somewhat. Spent lots of time w/dgs yesterday, too, so I don't think it's residual dog, LOL... that is just on my mind, for no reason, you know, except that I have to have something on my mind, I guess.
Eyes & ears are still a little itchy, but I've quit pouring water from every opening in my face, LOL, so that is helping my mood a LOT!
I have washed our mattress pad and have the sheets & light blanket in the washer now. I'm trying to wash all our bedding before I go back to school. My card says do this every six months, and I usually hit pretty close with it.
Also s/s dh's shower yesterday w/the Mr. Clean pad. That seems to be making a HUGE difference in the appearance of the shower.
So... the house is not going to be in PERFECT shape when I go back to school Tuesday...
... but I feel at least a little hopeful that maybe I can find a new routine for the school year and TRY to stick to it!
I wish I could have learned to follow my cards PERFECTLY during the summer... but it is sooo difficult to keep to a strict routine when dh is home 24/7 and HIS routine is sooo different from my idealized version of how we "should" be living.
* sigh *
I also wish I could have kept to my exercise routine during July, but it seems various things just conspired to throw me off track there, too... so maybe the more "regulated" school calendar will help me get back on track there, too.
Simplify, but stick to routine... that will be my mantra for the school year.
Today's PODA
* pay attention to card file
* download pictures for dmom
* go to D ollar G eneral
* get dmil's mail
* s2s
Pictures for dmom is kinda a fun assignment. Her cousin is putting together a scrapbook of all their family -- my great-grandparents' descendants. Unfortunately, I don't think there is going to be a digital format of this, so I doubt I'll ever see it!
OTOH -- maybe one of this cousin's nephews or someone will scan the finished product and send us all copies? I only have to get printouts of our family -- dmom, ddad, dbro, dh & me, ds, ddil, & dgs.
(((Twins))) Reading about your experience w/dmom's doctor's appts makes me feel sooo much better about MY worries. (I'm sorry, to use your misfortune to improve my feelings, but it does help.) My mom & I get along sooo well. I just have this unreasonable travel/social anxiety that feels me with dread if I know in advance about some "social" engagement looming ahead... and dmom has already sorta put me on "hold" that I might be needed to take her to the foot doctor -- a couple hours' away -- IF ddad is unable to go with her.
As I've mentioned before, stuff like this is one reason I fear retirement!
BUT... I keep telling myself...
dparents have NOT needed me AT ALL this summer; it is unlikely anything will change much in the future...
and IF their needs change drastically, well, working or not, I WOULD want to be available for them if they needed me.
and even if I DO have some anxiety pre-trip/appt, I know we will get along fine & dmom & I will have a good time, really, whatever we're doing.
I am even telling myself that should the time arrive that ddad needs me, when dmom might be unavailable... well... maybe that is the Lord's way of giving ddad & me some time to -- not really mend fences, b/c it's not that they need mending so much... just that our fences seem so HIGH, to me. Maybe ddad & I just need to open some gates?
Hmmm...
Anyway -- MT & Indiana, you should both be proud of me -- I am REALLY trying to tell myself GOOD things, b/c you have both told me that my mind will believe whatever I tell it!
(((BIG HUGS, INDIANA)))) I sooo hope you are feeling better soon!!!
Have a great time at the wedding, Dee!
I understand about passing on the JC tribute show.
You know, a dfriend is always sorta surprised that I don't care so much for a sorta-local/regional Elvis impersonator who is sooo highly acclaimed and always has sold-out shows. I just figure, well, he's NOT Elvis... and I did get to see the real thing once... so why spend $$$ on the fake thing?
I might like to see the show that Elvis' band does w/the screens showing Elvis in concert. The show has been on PBS occasionally. It IS pretty impressive, I think, b/c they tie the old footage together SEAMLESSLY w/them playing the same songs live. I always think how sad it must be for them, though, to be playing those songs... and looking at that empty spot @ center stage.
Waving to helia & Harriet... the village is pretty quiet today, isn't it?
Hope y'all have a good day!
