SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
My ddil has a sign as you come in the door: "SIMPLIFY". I there something you can simplify in your life, your routine, your errand list?
I'm trying to simplify my day by listing exactly what I need to do on errand run this morning. Have a wedding at 2 and then the reception. There's a ticket-only dinner/Johnny Cash tribute at our rec hall after that. Couldn't see $50 for tickets for that & the dinner after a reception....so dh is just going to the concert phase. He got a reduced ticket since he certainly doesn't need a dinner either. Though that's not well-known. Know our neighbor is only going for the dinner (beef bar-b-q) which makes me chuckle because he hates potatoes and I know there's salt potatoes, plus beef and probably a veg. Then he's coming back home while his wife stays for the concert.
Got up little after 5 for a bathroom break, went back to bed and then never heard dh get up.
Sunny right now, but it's supposed to be quite rainy later.
Thinking about dKathryn & dIndiana this morning -hope they're both seeing progress today.

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
Think I'll l**t each thing I need to accomplish and then simplify the steps to complete each task.
Wedding at 2:
Get out my clothes
Get out dh's clothes
Shower/shampoo hair
Dress
Write gift check
Buy wedding card (thought I had one
)
Church Council notes:
Find notes on computer (of course I've waited ALMOST to the last possible minute)
Then check to see if I have some other notes (somewhere -though I've seen none all summer -last meeting was early June)
That's my simplified l**t for today. I'm sure other things will crop up but that's a good motivator so far.

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
Good morning! It is gray and cool here. We're enjoying it after the hot weather earlier, but I hope it doesn't continue indefinitely. I do like sunshine and warmth in the summer. . .
Dfriends will be leaving today, late this morning. We've enjoyed our time with them! They just wanted to be low-key yesterday, so we took them out to Zingerman's, a local well-known deli/restaurant for lunch. Then, dh took them on a tour of his workplace, showed them his office, the nano-tech lab in his building, the big comp. simulation room (not sure that is the correct name. . . a room full of computers -- no screens, just boxes and boxes stacked floor to ceiling -- used on simulations, etc.) and his own lab. He got out some of his chips, and we looked at them under microscopes - very interesting. Dh is a great tour guide/teacher. After a 2.5 hour downtime, during which many of us took naps, we took dfriends back out -- downtown this time to a fun restaurant, a Cuban snack bar. And then we explored some of the art galleries/shops downtown. Dfriends S and R joined us downtown, so it was nice for friends to meet each other.
Before dfriends arrived on Thursday, I got the MBR, 2 bathrooms, and dd14's room all cleaned within an inch of their lives -- as if rooms had lives, LOL! -- and that felt really good. House is generally in decent shape.
Ds and dh are currently making waffles for bfast. I did not join dh on an early morning run today; I didn't feel like getting up early once again. I'll try to get one in later today.

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
In answer to questions last night:
Yes there's a blood test for mono. I had the test on Thursday but the lab wouldn't send me the results so I have to wait until Monday morning's appointment to get the results. I've also been tested for jaundice and hepatitis. Monday afternoon is my liver ultrasound.
Learning that the mono symptoms are not all at once has made me suspect the mono diagnosis is actually right. One side of my throat is swollen and it hurts to swallow. But on Wednesday, it was just fine when the doctor inspected my throat. Apparently, the fever comes after the swollen glands so the fact that I haven't had a fever isn't surprising. My temperature is still up 1 - 1.5 degrees but not the fever you get with mono (and that puts my temp at 98.3 - 98.9)
My white blood cell counts are up (obviously) but the tests also break down which cells are up and the one that deals with Epstein Barr virus (which is related to mono) is the one that is the most out of whack. I need to point out that the other one is related to endocarditis and my heart condition leaves me at risk for that so I need her to watch those numbers. I'll take my heat bag on Monday in case I need another blood draw. Heating my arm makes all the difference in the world.
Since I've been laid low at least 9 days now, on the bright side, the exhaustion is 9 days closer to being over.
I slept pretty well through the night despite the sore throat. I had to put heat on my throat a few times through the night but in general, I slept ok. My back is starting to object to being in bed all the time so that's my newest cross to bear.
I got up, made the bed, tidied the bedroom a bit, unloaded the dish drainer, had some breakfast including my vitamins, and sorted mail. The kitchen counters are back to normal (they were getting piled.) The kitchen table is still missing.
I started a load of laundry and folded and put away the towels that were in the dryer.
By then I was exhausted and came back to bed for an hour. I heard the washer buzz so will go flip that LOL.
I need to make up a grocery list for dh. Which means I really should clean out the fridge too so I know just how bad the situation is for food. Dh will be out tonight since practice is not 5:15 and service starts at 7:15. Somewhere in there he should eat but no-one knows how much time they'll have to eat.
I'll have a frozen dinner to eat tonight. Probably lasagna. Food like that is starting to sound good to me, a big sign that I'm getting stronger.
My weight is down 5 pounds this week. I do not recommend this as a weight loss program!

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
I just got back from walking a mile with ddogs. It's very slow going with them stopping to sniff and leave their calling cards and dMacs wanting to drink water from every puddle we pass. (Off his former meds for blood work this week, his insatiable thirst has returned.) Dh has gone to Torah study and dkids are still sleeping.
Tonight is a temple fundraising event.

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
((Kathryn)) A dfriend, one of our Thursday night crew, has mono. She had 10 days of fever. Though the worst is over, she has been sick for a month and says she is only up to 60% right now. She's trying to get work done but finds herself getting exhausted so quickly. I'm not sure her stomach was affected as strongly as yours has been. I hope you find out soon exactly what is going on.
Dfriends just left. I've checked some things online and updated my calendar.
Today: Not sure what I'll do. Some laundry, a jog, switch bedding on MBR bed. Maybe a groc. store run yet again -- we're almost out of milk now. Maybe I'll finally work on getting my moms group folders organized.

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
My mother would fry bacon in a room near a person whose appetite she wanted to increase - usually a surprise.
Harmony, how bright of you to think of mono.
Kathryn, I wouldn't wish mono on you, but at least it is firmly in the realm of known things from which there is a known recovery cycle.
Twins' Mom, can you allow a first leisurely few minutes in which they finish their business, and then give them some cue that there's no more stopping? I see people here with their dogs on leashes on power walks or even jogs and the dogs never break stride. Of course, I don't know how that might work when approaching home where friend-dogs live.
Enjoy the wedding, Dee.
Sunny, Woo Hoo! You need to come brag in H and F. I have heard good things about MyFitnessPal. But my info is all on my-calorie-counter so I suppose I'll stay there.
helia, your house looks great!
sherinjoy, how did your son enjoy his free time?
Sadie, how did your husband enjoy the trip? I was thinking he will enjoy telling friends about it.

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
Took an hour to rest. Talked on the phone for almost an hour. That got me in the mood for a tea biscuit from Tim Horton's so cleaned out the fridge, made up a grocery list (8 items, I still can't think more than one meal ahead) and sent off dh.
Put sheets in the dryer.
Had a snack. I focused on orange food so had goldfish crackers, orange crush and orange jello. What's up with that?!
Back in bed. Originally, I was going shopping with dh but 5 minutes of being up convinced me that was a bad idea so I'm back in bed now. I'm at least sponge bathed and wearing clothes. I think dh feels better when I have clothes on. I just wear a camisole so my capris and t-shirt come off and I'm back in my sleeping clothes. The thought of wearing a bra is too constraining so obviously, something is still up with that part of my trunk.

Harriet, I really should but I'm a softie on them! I need to get them in the habit of walking more and lollygagging less.
Need to work a few rounds here....
-empty dishwasher
-clear kitchen counters
-make the bed
-start a lol
-clear kitchen breakfast bar (high counter - this is the "Hot spot" of this house!)

Re: SIMPLIFY SATURDAY
-continue with clearing breakfast bar
-take out paper recycling to garage
-reboot laundry
-find Command hooks and try one for back of bathroom door for my pajamas
-try to trouble shoot printer/scanner to scan to my computer wirelessly
Can't believe it's almost 3 p.m. I'm just adding on to prior post since no one else has posted. I just made myself a lunch wrap of leftover salmon and avocado. Yum!
This time:
-take books from MBR upstairs
-take bed linens and towels upstairs
-spend 15 minutes finding homes for stray items in DR
-continue with "hot" counter
