I need to get my day rolling! Have had an easy Sunday morning - back to bed for more sleep, walk for ddogs, reading the paper. Yes, Harriet, Macs has a management position here as well. Sunny, I use the retractable leashes for my walks so the dogs have a degree of movement in front of me or lagging behind or checking out the other side of the street. Of course, that means that I often slow down to allow them to mark or to sniff out a particularly interesting area. I've always felt that walking them is as much for additional stimulation as for the exercise, which is more important now with the smaller yard and a less interesting area for exploration.

DD has dragged in some of her school boxes and started resorting what will go. She also cleaned out "her" car and brought me a basket of stuff that was left in her car during the move with dirty clothes.

-clear the kitchen counters
-run dishwasher?
-make the bed
-reboot laundry, fold two loads from yesterday
-grocery list - I need some things to make supper tonight

I can report success with my new thermos-style travel mug. I took it with me doing errands Friday. It sat several hours in the car in direct sunlight. The outside got extremely hot because it's metal. However, the inside stayed cold enough that when I wanted the ice cubes to melt because I had drunk all of the water, they only started melting when I left the lid off awhile. It is an Aladdin brand that I bought at Target, and it's tall and thin so it fits well in the car's cup holder. The lid has a double screw top -- with a wide-mouth part for filling and putting in ice, and a small part the size of a soda bottle top for drinking. The two lids are attached together with a cloth webbing strap. Good job, Aladdin!

So Friday was errand day in The Big City. Made it to all of the stops I had planned and it only took an hour longer than I thought it would, that's pretty good for a Friday.

Yesterday I was at the library book sale finale all day. I didn't know I was going to be working all day, but several volunteers did not show up. The price yesterday was still 25 cents paperback, 50 cents hard cover, but a maximum of $5. The Treasurer stamped the person's hand the first time they paid the $5, so they could take a box out to their car and come back to pick up more. The goal was to let the public carry as much as they wanted up the stairs so we would have less to haul away. Everything that's left will be sold to a used book store or, what they won't buy, we'll have to put in recycling. We've already offered them for free to other libraries, teachers, church missions, etc. who have come to take what they wanted. We will not bargain for prices at the used book store, if they would even give us a dime per book it would be better than trashing them all.

I just talked to the library group president and heard some discouraging news. The sale had been going on all week on the honor system, trusting that people would put money in a locked box at the service counter. Library staff noticed several people taking boxes full of books out the door without stopping to pay. Yes, that is helping us clear out the room and it's fewer boxes that we have to carry up the stairs outselves ... but wouldn't you even pay a buck or two? I don't know, maybe some of them will still come in and drop off some cash this week.

I'm going back for a couple of hours this afternoon to tally the silent auction bids and box up some books. I'll only stay a couple of hours. Then I'm done with this project, I've already given way more hours than I expected to do.

I need to put supper in the crock pot and figure out something for lunch. BBL.

Oh Harriet, what a nice visit! I'm glad you took the chance and it worked out so well for you and your Dear Aunt, DDad, and DD. I like Dear Aunt's dress/apron color combo.

Yeah Harriet for your good family visit glad you got the opportunity to have such a great time. Drs aren't sure of the nature of my itching. I've been told it's a fungal type of problem. When you put me in a dark room and pass the old 60's type black light over me I glow in the dark heat and sunlight seems to arrogate it. I think like many funguses the body has a very difficult time killing it. At first I was told it was impetigo but that was ruled out last year with the black light. The desert is very full of fungal spores. We don't have many insects during the summer cause the heat and strong sunlight takes care of that. However fungus is a different story. Till I moved here I thought funguses who like warm, dark wet places, like mold only lived in humid areas like the jungles and the south

I don't know what got into me, but I am a load of laundry from being done and except for my tile floors which I will do tomorrow, have cleaned the rest of my house. I love when that happens

Good Morning! (15 minutes of morning left in my time zone )

We had a wonderful visit with DSon and family. Spent a couple hours in a jumping house with a dozen of DGS6 friends, followed by pizza, cake and more games. I assume the jumping houses are not just a local thing and located everywhere. They are a wonderful safe way place for kids to get a good workout together and have a blast.

DSon/DDIL new-to-them house is enormous (IMHO) and now that their furniture is in it......it really seems so. Their furniture seems small in this house, but I know it isn't (couch is over 12' long, etc). I wondered through their home several times trying to learn the layout. I did silly things while wondering through the house to keep my mind occupied.... counted the number of sinks (13) and another trip I counted doors (43). I'm not sure I counted them all because I kept forgetting which hallway i had already been through. I am very happy for them, but I was also very happy to arrive back at our small home.

Kathryn - I've had mono and also hepatitis. When i had mono my worst symptom was not being about to turn my head because the sides of my neck was so swollen I couldn't put any pressure (turning) on it. I stayed 3 months in bed resting without my feet ever touching the ground (doctors orders). The only physical activity I was allowed to do was sit up in bed. When I had hepatitis I was soooo very sick to my stomach that I couldn't stand to smell food or see it. So sick that I couldn't be in a room with a TV on because an advertisement of food would cause me to be violently sick to stomach....even though I didn't eat anything for days. I sincerely hope you don't have either one of these diseases. It took me months to get over each one of them. I hope this doesn't come across as Negative-Nelly, but your DH needs to realize the seriousness of this and if the test confirm you have them...... you could be out of circulation for months. Some strands of it is also highly contagious and he (and others who have been in close contact with you) might need to immediately get gamma-globulin shot/s.

Echoing Booksaver's thoughts on Harriet's outing this morning. Glad for all to have a day in which issues recede.

Something, something, in my activity draws my family out like flies. DH wanted assistance getting his computer printing, so far I haven't had success there, but eventually did get all the other stuff done. DH is making a trip to Lowes - the equivalent of a man-cave retreat - as I asked him to try to hang the curved shower curtain in kids bathroom upstairs.

I was going to go to church w/ dgd until I noticed something hanging down under the car so decided I'd better now go any where until h. had a chance to look at it.

Dgd is here and has happily settled in with a Tom & Jerry cartoon movie & a fleece blanket that I fringed the last of this morning. I've made others but given them all away decided it is a good idea to keep one here to use.

I need to pay attn. to dailies kitchen needs help and bed is not made yet.
H. said he would grill for lunch.

Nap mats. Who knows about nap mats for preschoolers????

I need to find out what the normal is. Just the mat? Mat with cover? Mat with cover and blanket? I suspect all three.....In school colors....of course.
