Good morning!

Fighting a serious case of the Idonwannas today -- I have preseason hockey scheduling to go to this morning, and we have a wedding to go to this afternoon/evening, and I don't really want to do either. I'm so tired of running around, having gone from the girls walking home from school last year (though seldom walking to school; they really dragged in the mornings last year) to having an hour-and-a-half pickup run (half an hour each way, and half an hour waiting in line; if there's a "sweet spot" where I can minimize my time, I haven't found it yet). I just want to spend a day going NOWHERE. Not going to happen in the foreseeable future. :(

The wedding is that of the daughter of one of DH's colleagues; DH knows the daughter and her fiancé a bit because they all proctor SAT & ACT tests together. I've met the dad a couple of times, and that's it. So not something to make me enthusiastic about leaving home when I really want to stay. I can't even muster up enthusiasm for going to scheduling, and I generally enjoy it. It's a bit, I imagine, like going to a bazaar and haggling. The purpose of preseason is to determine the proper skill division placements of the teams for the regular season, so the heads of each program have submitted their best estimates of each team's strength to the league. The league then does their best to put the teams in a numerical ranking (dd's team is currently ranked 48th out of 52) and computer-schedules a few games with teams somewhat close in number. The coaches and managers then all get together to fix any conflicts (last year, the computer scheduled us for two away games on the same day, an hour apart, with one team about an hour southeast of the city and another team about two hours west of the city) and add more games if they want them, particularly with higher or lower teams if they feel they've been over-ranked or under-ranked -- or some programs will sandbag their preseason schedule, scheduling expected losses with much higher teams, hoping to end up being moved to a lower division than they ought to be, where they can soundly defeat their opponents.

Ah, sleep. I ended up joining the ranks of those taking naps yesterday. Can sympathize with Cowinkie's sleep troubles in that I, too, was not getting much REM at the time I was finally diagnosed bipolar. The drug they put me on, Lamictal, has to be ramped up slowly to avoid side effects, and I was so thrilled when, even before I had reached an official "therapeutic dose," I was dreaming again. That, in and of itself, did a fair bit for my mood. I need to go get my thyroid checked to rule it out as a cause of nighttime panic attacks I was having in the spring. Yes, I've been putting it off, and I suspect it wasn't the cause, because I didn't have one all summer -- due to lack of school stress, I think. OTOH, my DB was having similar sleeping problems and was finally diagnosed with thyroid trouble, the symptoms of which an earlier doctor had thought were depression. (There are thyroid issues on my mom's side of the family and bipolar on my dad's.) So these things have many possible causes.

It's about time for me to get going to the scheduling; it's at a different place this year than it has been, so I want to be sure to get there early.

Seconding OKay's thanks for Scattered's service, and stunned that helia's DS is out of the house -- time flies!

Mystery, panic attacks that happen in late winter and spring, but do not happen in the summer and fall months, could be attributed to levels of vitamin D. Our vitamin D level, theoretically, is lowest in spring after a winter without sunshine, and climbs through the summer to its highest in late summer and early fall. It would be worth learning about that, to see if it could have to do with what you experienced. The link between low D and panic attacks is very interesting. You may remember that I had to learn a bunch of this stuff because HRH was diagnosed with chronically low B-12 levels and took shots for a while, then the dr tested his D and found it was quite low, too. I had pneumonia after my mother passed away in 2010, too, and now make sure to get sunshine often for lung health.

Btw, I need to repost the Naval Observatory azimuth table again in H and F. Here I still have more than 2 hours of a window today for sunshine over the 50 degree mark, from which our skin can make its own vitamin D. But the window is closing fast. I have 20 more days until my vitamin D winter - can you believe it? Time marches on. So if anyone's interested in how much you still have (or when it begins next for Lynlee or Lisa), I'll post directions for using the site in H and F.

I am sitting here S2Sed. Just threw dd14 out the door into the sunshine because of course school has limited her time to enjoy the outdoors in general. She has clipped Tobias' nails so now I'll nag HRH to get the flea meds on both Tobias and Sammie. I need to do a load of jeans laundry so that it can drip-dry over the weekend in prep for the school week. Then I'd like to wash our master linens. Dd and I need to continue work on her closet.

Goodnight and sleep tight, Lynlee!

CI. . I've been busy but not with anything on my 6x6, unfortunately.

x sat and had breakfast with the fam
x helped clean up the kitchen; dw is running now
x helped dh load a bookshelf he made into the van to take to his office
x s2s, bed made

Next:
-brush teeth
-start lol - light darks
-make banana bread; I think I'll make 2 loaves

My tummy is feeling iffy; it has been feeling this way since Wed. evening. . . . .Yes, it felt bad while running yesterday, but I assessed and knew I would not throw up, so I continued pushing a little during the jog and felt good afterward. I ate a banana and a boiled egg for bfast w/ 2 cups of tea. I passed on dh's very tempting scrambled eggs with cheese and ham and sauteed tomatoes on the side - b/c of WW points.

Hiya Bernice! It sounds like you are very busy and productive. Room mom for 2 classrooms.. . . Wow!

Thanks to scattered for serving!

((Mystery)) That IS a lot of driving. This is a phase of life that will come to an end, but while you're in it, I know all that running around is hard and the end is so far off. . . . Ds decided to go to UMich, engineering school. He is living in the dorms, making the transition OK. He finds all his classes "lots of fun," but I think he's missing a good buddy to hang out with. He has stopped by home briefly every Saturday so far, but he is not depending on us for social needs, which is very good. I'm transitioning OK too, :) refraining from emailing him every day, only in response to an email from him. . . .He is currently meeting dh on the engineering campus to help unload the bookcase and get it up to dh's office.

Off I go. T-6 hours and counting. . . .

Hello everyone!

I slept in another hour today. l'm going to keep Sat. simple. I'm just going to try getting something done then quit when I must.

Here's my rooster story (I think I've told it before). Up north we had chickens mostly hens with a rooster. He never bothered us. A child across the way asked if we'd take his rooster because he had too many and we told him yes we would. He had show chickens (maybe it was 4H) and this rooster bugged us for attention. He loved to be held and stroked. But he was a beautiful rooster and acted like he knew it!

Last eve. I took a sleep disorder (or apnea I don't know which) test on line and though I have some of the symptoms I did not have high enough numbers to qualify. So there. The internet knows everything, right?! I have wondered about chronic fatigue. Gee whiz I sure hope not.

I've done some kitchen work, paid a few bills, washed a table topper and hung outside. Sat down and ate breakfast and my heart is beating like a tom-tom. Sheesh. I'm wanting to get my floors done. Maybe in stages.

DH took too much cold medicines last night and his mind is all fuzzy today. He's now outside pulling weeds. He has the grass looking beautiful. If only the inside looked this nice.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Was up until midnight watching The Tonight Show, which is a luxury we very seldom do anymore. We're too old and too tired. I couldn't get to sleep until 2 a.m. because of a great afternoon nap, but got up at 8:30 a.m.

PODA:

1- To crochet on and finish my 2-strand shawl. (I'm cold). :o
2- To dust mop the house. (Fir floors).
3- To read stories.
4- To walk today, at least 1/2 hour.
5- To do my routines and 3 x 5's.

I'll report Ta Da's later, when I get some. :D

Waivng posting w/out cuop.

I'm back from a short walk went to a estate sale, it was neat stuff was in the drawers so I just dug around as others were too and saw what I was hoping to find: got a bag of yarn, needles and old knitting "how to" book like we used when I was a kid. Found the junk / tool drawer & got a hammer so we do not have to fight over that here. [Hubby took his too work.] One other of the finds was an old hoe for cleaning out the chicken coop out with, and some ash trays for chick feeders. got some drawer liners for the bottom of the chick box. I asked if they had chickens but did not. Saw a friend there and several folks I knew on the way home while I was walking with this stuff packing it home!

Watered the back so H. could do the weed n feed of course we always have this discussion about getting to close to my plants with that stuff. He swares he turns it offn and I always freek out! LOL!

Came inside to get a break from the smoke get coffee before we
start on the last wall of the coop. Then there are the doors to do.

Got to go help h. with the coop eggs sill seem fine no stinkers!

Load of laundry is on the line. Dishwasher is running. I've s2s and had breakfast. Done a bit of tidying. Started dinner in the crockpot (actually that was my first ta-da.)

Now I'm resting for a moment. Dh needs to go to the library and might go with him and check out the loss leaders at the grocery store.

So far my day has been non productive. I went back to bed after posting this morning for a substantial nap. I went out when I got up and picked up the alterations so that is done.

On the nap/sleepiness discussion, I've been increasingly concerned about my ability to nap for up to two hours most days, regardless of how much sleep I get. In June I discussed with the psychiatrist that I see once a year for meds. I'm theorizing that Lexapro is hitting me harder as I get older and causing the sleepiness - a couple of years ago we added in Bupropion in the a.m. as it helped get me going also. After seeing her in June, I was to email to follow up and we'd do meds adjustment and with the move this summer, I never attended to that. So I'm looking into a meds adjustment and have an appointment with her next week. OTOH, the discussion here is making me wonder if I should check for sleep apnea. Dh says I sound like I'm a lawnmower most nights, and I know I do snore a lot.

Plan now is to mix up the batter for the Mandel bread and refrigerate it. It's easier to work with when it's cold. While it's refrigerated, I can make the brownies with the marshmallows and frosting. These are to be additional sweets for the reception (called an "Oneg") at temple tomorrow night for the new year.
