Delivered LO to school .....had a impromptu parent/teacher conference......not related....but as I was walking out of school I saw grandmother of Luke (LO classmate) who has been spitting in LO (and other classmates) faces! ***VBSigh*** Gently as possible, I asked if she was aware of the incidents. She wasn't aware and received the information well. She said she would speak to Luke's parents and let them handle it.

Stopped by PC to update cards and of course, I came here also. :)
Oh my goodness... going to have to listen to dmil AND dh for another two months... good grief.
LucyLee - you do know it won't be over in 2 months .....right? Someone is always giving me their opinion about what I should do differently with LO. I find it a bit humorous that many times the advice/opinion received from others is totally opposite.
We are too easy on LO.
We are too strict with LO.
We don't give him enough treats.
We give him too many treats.
And on and on and on........................

I b___tfed my babies, and the pedi had us start rice cereal at 4 months, though I think dd17 started at 6 months -- b/c the b-feeding didn't take off w/ her b/c she was preemie. So, she ended up as a formula baby after all.

Back from the dentist. I'm going to finally s2s and get this day going.

Adding. . . . I'm quite sure the pedi started ds on rice cereal at 4 months, mainly b/c he wasn't gaining weight that well. Not sure about dd14; maybe she started at 6 months?? She did better than ds on the b----t. And maybe dd17 started cereal even later? I know she started the latest of the 3 b/c of the preemie issue, maybe b/c she was on formula instead?? No idea what they're saying nowadays.

I called the energy company b/c there is a downed wire on our front yard. It is not a power line b/c we have power. Dh thinks it is to the street light. . .

I'm glad to see those of you who were in the storm that can check in with good reports. I have the TV tuned in to weather channel on in the back ground. Last night I watched the news ticker w/ out sound some pretty impressive photos especially of the crane swinging off of the tower in NYC with the glow of clouds in the back ground. And the one of the statue of liberty surrounded by surf.

No rain here today yet any way H. has left for work. He took the trash to the curb. I've fed the chickens. Granny duty around lunch time.

We started out kids out on cereal then veggies and then fruit as per docs advice only earlier than recommended!

Wishing every one a good day today here hoping the ones that are w/out power can get that restored soon. Wondering who is in the snow area getting pounded today with the weather aftermath of Sandy.

Morning y'all....
I heard from my brother... He made it through and so did his house. He said trees are down everywhere. The entire Jersey coast has need wiped out... This report was from gov Chrisie. All the landmarks that I've grown up with are gone. I understand when y'all watch the news it's just pictures of devastation but to me it's my home and where I grew up.

The beach town next to me was totally flooded. However this has happened before just its worse this time. I don't know how my mom is... Her power is out and she has no phone service. Her Quadplex is surround by trees. Now my brother said he's going to try and check on her and bring her to his house. Why he didn't do this before the storm I'll never understand.

Trusting your Mom is ok, Cowinkie.

I've been on the phone for nearly an hour with -you guessed it! Med Co   Sounding like the same ol' problem. I believe they have our MVP insurance # instead of the pharmacal one. Called Dr's office but the person I need to talk to won't be in until tomorrow. Hoping SHE can straighten this mess out. I do have a supply of medicine to last through mid-November, thank goodness. Here we go again!

Evidently my internet isn't turned off yet, but am expecting it any time. TWarner could be busy with other things today. You think?

((Cowinkie)) Perhaps your brother could see a scenario in which her home might be safer than his. May he find her in normal situation, and only with the frustration of a power outage.

The rains relented briefly to allow dd14 a rare dry walk into the school building. We're still under a wind advisory. I don't think we had any record snow after all.

I also breastfed my three children for 9, 10 and 17 months, respectively, in 1980, 1985 and 1998. (This was somewhat influenced by the changes in the breastfeeding advice/wisdom of the times.) Each had a " 6-month birthday meal" of rice cereal. Dd32 has continued that "tradition" for her 3 boys, I assume with blessings from the pediatrician. But she had the foresight to snap a photo of each of their reactions/expressions after their first "solid" bites, something that never occurred to me to document! Cute photos.

((Mr. DeeClutter)) for 2 a.m. roof work in the storm. Thanks for posting, Dee.

Just went through all the cabinets/drawers in the bathroom. Have a bunch of stuff on our bed to go through, sort & pack. But we're doing quite well toward getting ready to leave tomorrow. We'll probably be able to leave fairly early as dh will only have to winterize our own RV.

DH called his dfriend (who is the repair guy for C World). He's in Hershey, PA right now, prepping RV's they sold at the big RV show in Hershey. DH asked him how it was there -"Good -NOW" he said. He's going to call dh later to let him know how the roads are down that way. So we should have some firsthand info without media 'hype'. Right now it's raining a little. It's come and go now -probably the outer bands as they come by.

I'm assuming Kathryn left, since we haven't heard from her today.

May try calling our friends who wanted us to meet with them for dinner in the last couple of weeks. Nothing worked. But now we're here an extra night so maybe they can meet us somewhere between here and there.

DH got a break in the weather this morning and was able to rain-x our car windows. That'll help. He's going to help me pack the car later. Hopefully we'll get some breaks in the weather . The sun even tried valiantly to shine a couple of times this morning. Think I have to go out to buy mouse food for dh to sprinkle under the RV. Forgot we did that last year. Speaking of which, I don't happen to see the dryer sheets I bought. Know they're not on the shelf in the bathroom. Hmmm.....

Yes, Harriet, I shuddered to think of dh up on a ladder in that storm. Told him he should have wakened me to go help him. Right! That would never happen. He's very protective of me.

Hi all!

Dh and I are enjoying a glorious day in upstate NY. Our drive was bit rough for the first 20 minutes (wind, rain, dark) but then the rain stopped, we got onto the east/west highway going west (so had a heck of a tail wind) and dawn came. We got to the border 45 minutes early and just sat in the car in the parking lot since dh was the first person booked for the day. It rained a little while we were waiting and then the sun shone and there was a gorgeous rainbow.

I updated my NEXUS card to ensure I can use Global Entry machines where there isn't NEXUS (when flying through the US) and we were out of the office by 9. Crossed over to the US side, dropped in on Alex Bay (where I spent all my summers from age 14 to 19 crewing on my Dad's boat), then did our shopping in Ogdensburg. We're just having lunch now and then will head home.

It is warm and sunny here but a bit breezy some times.
