Good Morning Villagers! :D

DH has the Army - Navy pre-game marching on and will watch the game today.

I'll continue to crochet baby items and we'll do a bit of cleaning on and off this weekend. We need to get our mini Christmas tree out. He's a bit of a procrastinator and I have no "clue" where he's stored it.

I'll post a ta da later. I'll try to continue to de-clutter on a box of papers and folders and things, in the spare room.

Have a great day! :D

AAAUAUGUGGHHHH!!!
Our SUV is dead again! For the last six months, maybe, we have had this CRAZY problem w/the SUV -- clock resets itself... door locks go on and off at random... etc. Took it to the dealer, they could find nothing, everything checked out fine on computer diagnostics. About a month or so ago, it just completely went dead & we had it towed to local mechanic. AGAIN, they could find nothing, everything checked out fine on computer diagnostics. All they could figure to do was replace battery. Everything was until this week. Same thing started up again. Last night -- got home * thank the good Lord!!! * -- and it went dead again in the carport. It will probably cost a fortune to have it towed to dealer, but we are NOT going to the local mechanic -- we are a little suspicious of him right now (overcharging and wanting to do work that is not necessary) -- but I just feel hopeless about whether anything will show up on diagnostics this time.
I couldn't sleep for thinking about it this morning, so I checked online and yes, LOTS of people are complaining about the same problem.
It's a 2008 T a h o e.
* sheesh *
We LOVE to drive it... and can't afford to trade... but oh my goodness this is driving us insane.

Anyway... we are very blessed to be able to borrow dmil's van for the duration of this situation. Next week is going to be packed full and I may end up having to take off an afternoon @ work to help get this taken care of. Of course, if it is towed in, I won't be needed.

DH is talking to ds on the phone right now... we'll probably be keeping dgs for a while this evening. Doesn't sound like he's mad b/c we turned him down last night. ;) (DS, not dgs, LOL!)

And I did get a lot of shopping done last night... but not really finished yet. Doing some online stuff now, too.

We saw Flight last night. Normally, I really like Denzel Washington... but this movie just seemed kinda depressing to me. DH has his heart set on seeing Killing Them Softly (? -- I think that's the name of it) w/Brad Pitt tonight. I've got a feeling that's going to be sorta gruesome/depressing, too!

Nancy, I've not offered ideas for your homework help line b/c... honestly... I am at a loss about that, too. The only thing I know to do when parents ask is to suggest an assignment journal to be checked by me @ school and them @ home... but no one ever follows up on that idea.

Lots of stuff I need to be doing today...

Ooohhh... that DOES sound like a fun day, OKay!!! You are making sooo many wonderful memories for these dboys...

Happy Hanukkuh, Twins!

Waving to EVERYONE !!!

After my errand run yesterday, I think my shopping is finished, even the stocking stuffers :) . This afternoon I will focus on writing Christmas cards with carols playing in the background, chopping up veggies to make chicken soup tomorrow, & wrapping gifts for the kids.

Scattered, I'll sling a stack of catalogs that are sitting on my dining room table. I think they breed overnight as the stack keeps getting bigger :) .

Have fun picking out a tree, Blessed!

Happy Hanukkah, Twins! Enjoy your home alone time.

Hi MT -- I'll swap you some of my soup for some of yours :) .

Hi OKay, I would love a horse & carriage ride. All those lights would be a bonus! Enjoy :) .

Hi CathyS -- hope your organizing project is a quick & easy one.

Glad you are feeling better, Helia.

Hi Nancy -- answer that call from your sewing room :) .

Hi Ivy, enjoy your crocheting & tree decorating.

Lucylee, what strange symptoms your SUV has. Glad if it had to die it was at home so you were not stranded somewhere. Hope it is a quick & permanent fix this time.

Waving ~~~~~ to everyone & all who stop by later. Hope you have a wonderful day! :)

MT - I love ham-hocks and beans! I throw some mirpoix in for taste and veggies, I buy it pre-chopped and frozen.

Twins - have a great day and happy Chanukah.

Okay - Nacho Supreme sounds heavenly (hmm think I might be hungry???) Sounds like a lot of fun with LO and DGS!

Blessed - Have fun running errands

Cathy - have fun hitting the unavoidable area.

Helia - have fun tonight at dinner and the concert

Nancy - have a great day

Ivy -
GO NAVY!!!

LucyLee - I heard that the critics panned Killing me softly

Dove - Ugh I am so hungry and everyone is talking about food!!!

So I went in this morning and then right before I left to go to lunch the Captain asked me what was going on with my drills (what we call reserve weekend which is broken into 4 periods) I had over-drilled/over scheduled this weekend. totally my bust. So now except for January when I promised to go back to Portsmouth I will be off until March. :D

Think I am going to get something to eat and then maybe take a nap... may or may not go to the meeting tonight, may wait till Monday night and go to one closer since I need to conserve funds = conserve gas and the meeting tonight is like 15 miles away.

ToDo/TaDa
:D d2s
:D coffee
:D fill to-go cups
:D reserves (turns out I didn't have to... )
 eat lunch
nap
decorate tree
meeting :?:

~~ Tree! ~~

Ds27 followed me in as I brought dd14's chosen Tannenbaum. He and HRH put it up, with some extra struggles :? (because I think) our tree stand is getting old after almost a quarter century, maybe? Darling baby clung to me, joy, joy, laughing at Sammie. Anyway, it's up after a morning of shopping around for it. Then we had lunch with the 2 of them and enjoyed the visit.

Anyway, just now able to even CUOP, I had to pull this out...

Today has dawned with no possibility of further avoidance.

:D Cathy! Once you get into it, it probably won't be so daunting. It's that first step that's the doozy.

Lynlee, you are just becoming a sewing machine trouble-shooter lately - no kidding. It's not how well you handle things when they go swimmingly, it's how well you handle them when something goes wrong. And you've been tackling problems for yourself and others recently. Btw, when the looping happens to me I find I probably need to drop the bobbin in again, also start the next seam with needle entering well within the fabric not traveling onto the fabric.

Dove you have a great plan, albeit opposite from mine. My cards are gone and I'm still shopping for gifts.

lucylee for ongoing repair problems on one item, document, document, document. Tell dh to be so happy dgs has a chance to bond with him. HRH is bewildered that of all the grandboys, this youngest one just can't seem to bond with him, no matter how many Donald Duck voices and silly faces he makes. I personally think it because there is no facial hair in this one's world except HRH (his Daddy and one uncle are firemen, other uncle just 14 years, and other grandfather cleanshaven), while the other three have their own Daddy plus their uncle with facial hair (other grandfather passed away).

helia, deadheading flowers is a "chore" I think of as marigolds in July! I love that time of year for sure. Love to come back in the house with my hands smelling like marigolds. What flowers are you deadheading today?

Labels chat - I truly invest myself in ordering return address labels and getting them right, then just settle in for the by-hand addressing (HRH does the inside), finding it's not worth it to keep updating the labels for recipients every year. Too much change happens. There is probably some point at which it becomes cost/time/effective to label, but I have not found that my nearly-50 have reached that point. (wow, I have a lot of cousins! :D )

What a lovely day plan, Twins' Mom! "by myself" I've heard of that! ;)
Oh, shoot - already over by the time I can post that! Oh well!

scattered, a nap sounds like it would be good for you - way too much going on for you lately.

Will start at :15 and work to TOTH again.

Need to finish w MBR, then fold some laundry and reboot. Maybe get upstairs to dd's room. (Cringing with CathyS.)

Well, yes, Harriet, this deadheading should have been done early in the fall. --This gives you an idea of how far behind I can get in certain chores. My black eyed susans took over one of the gardens, so it is mostly them -- as well as some cone flowers. Some of the daisies may be there too. I should probably trim back my roses (just 2) and there are some weeds to pull in the other garden. We have 2 gardens at the foot of our driveway, one on either side.

The gifts have been wrapped and deposited. I have gone through some old photos with dh. I have a load of towels going. I'm going to continue working through my piles from the attic for a while now.

I think we're going to get our tree tomorrow. :) Ds is going to stop by, we think, so we can truly make it a family affair. We buy from the same family business that brings their trees down here from the UP (the Upper Peninsula in Michigan speak - the people that live in MI's upper peninsula are fondly called Yoopers. . .) If no one remembers, all you have to do is look at a map and realize which part of MI is the upper peninsula - the peninsula north of Lakes Michigan and Ontario.

Made some progress on dd's room. Have a huge pile of laundry to do - things that don't look/smell clean that s/b laundered before they are given away or put away. I can't really pin all of the mess on her - there are three boxes in there that aren't really hers, I moved one and will get dh to help w others. Weather bug thing says it's 66 degrees out - I ended up turning on the air upstairs because I was working up a sweat.

Will go again at :15 after to TOTH again.

Ta-da!
I am s2s.

Yep... that's about it.

Oh -- and I talked to dmom on phone.

Harriet, we do have receipts from all episodes w/vehicle. Believe me, we WILL be pointing this out to them.
* sheesh *

DS & ddil will not be late tonight, I don't think.

Ivy -- I know -- the reviews ARE bad. OTOH, we usually don't pay any attention to the critics, b/c what they love, we sometimes hate, and vice versa. But I don't think this one is going to one of my favorites. I'm just not on the bandwagon w/Brad Pitt, anyway. I mean, he's okay... but nothing special, IMHO.
Tomorrow is another day.
