I agree with Ralph Waldo Emmerson's quote. dd had two very bad days. the job she was set up for an interview turned out to be an alternate interview so she is very upset (she didn't know until she signed in on the computer that they had her as an alternate). She is job worried right now. I know our neighbors daughter still doesn't have a job. oh life somethings makes things interesting. so yesterday is left and a new day begun!!!

this morning I am cooking for tonights dinner with family (I find when I have to cook I forget how to cook lol) I have to remember the joy I have when I am not under pressure.

I am sort of out of touch with you all here, but I'm sad to hear of so many of you being sick! ((Kathryn)) (That was a gentle hug.) THrowing up is not fun. I hope you're on the mend now. I did see that OK was sick a couple days ago; I hope she is better/on the mend. ((HUGS)) to those of you with migraines too. I don't get them, but I have friends who do, and from them, I understand they can be awful.

Girls have a "snow day" today - except it is 38* and not snowy at all and was even raining earlier. . .The email says that the roads are icy. Some in this house are wondering if they caught flack for not cancelling last week when roads were incredibly bad, and all the surrounding schools had cancelled. . .

S and R were here until 11 pm last night. It was good to see them; they've been so busy and/or sick - and we've been busy too - that we haven't seen them much lately.

Dh's dept. dinner was good. We sat at a table with friendly faces, including the colleague with whom dh works closely and his wife, whom I know a little. In fact, dd17 was their babysitter for the evening! Dh was mentioned for a national type award and then received a dept. award. He says he is going to throw the nicely framed certificate for the dept. award away.

What to do with this man. He is the opposite of a hoarder. . . We had to rush out early, though, b/c dd14 got a ride home from her synchro team dinner -- but we forgot to leave the door unlocked!!

So, b/c of school cancellations, dd14's synchro practice has been cancelled for tonight, and we think that dd17's tutoring will be cancelled too. This means we might actually be able to have a family meal w/ both girls present at the same time!!!

Harriet, I can feel your pain over next year's course selections for your dd. Our girls' class choices were due yesterday. Dd17 was still waffling over science and English choices late last night. I'm not even sure what she eventually signed up for since we were a bit engaged with S and R. (All her options were good.) In fact, we had a dinner conversation over high school transcripts and class choices last night. I think we're becoming less and less uptight over choices. Your high school does sound more strict over this, though. Our school might say that changes can't be made, but we all know they will, especially since testing out of classes happens in July. Also, auditions for bands are next month. Kids are told to sign up for their current band, but many, including dd14 hopefully, will end up in a higher one and will need their schedules changed accordingly. And dd17 signed up for an extra English class (or was it science?) with the idea of deciding between the 2 classes later and dropping one. Dd17 switched classes last summer in late August and it was not a problem.

Dd14 has her derm. appt. this afternoon. She's supposed to go in for fasting bloodwork first thing in the a.m. but she hasn't yet made an appearance. . . . Once she's up, I'll whisk her off to the clinic. In the meantime, I'll work on the a.m. routine.

I agree with all those highlighted quotes too, Twins. I certainly seem to be able to make enough nonsense for each day.

AH!! Almost a full night's sleep. The neck thing is new - stemming from holding my head at a weird angle when painting. Plus an aggressive chiro treatment. I have another treatment at 10 this morning - but you can be sure I will tell him to be gentle.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday. We had a busy day that included church, phone calls from all the kids, trip to town for hardware store and 2 grocery stores, ice cream at the clubhouse and a nice night by the fire.

Today will be the chiro appointment, more of putting stuff back in the kitchen and working on my blog.

Got to get moving as I have to leave in an hour.

trying to increase my ex. to 45 min.
two sessions of 30 min. each done yea got up to next weeks goal already! Yippie and I amazed myself with this!

lunch will be salad
dinner salad and ? whatever I pull out of the freezer I suppose chicken is good as anything. Told h. no more cheap chicken Mon. [fried] until I'm done with my
dr. visit mid week.
h. dropped a payment by in the drop box on his way to work saved me a trip.

So sorry Kathryn is also sick.

Hoping OKay's parents have avoided this.

There is a new strain of norovirus this year - not unusual to have a new one, but it is likely responsible for over half the cases. That may be what some of us are encountering. Our state's medical epidemiologists are saying 7 counties have outbreaks. They say one thing people may not know about norovirus is that you must use a dilute bleach solution to kill it on surfaces. "The usual types of disinfectants aren’t effective against it. Carefully wash your hands. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers do not kill the virus."

Hello, friends!

I had such a nice visit with my dfriend last week. She is like a sister to me. We've known each other since we were young kids & have always stayed in touch despite each of us moving several times. When she comes to stay it is like having a continuous slumber party

. We play cards & games, watch old movies & comedies, & go shopping & exploring.

Dh was away & missed the snowstorm, which pleased him because he didn't have to do any shoveling or snowblowing. There is close to two inches of ice under the snow from the sleet that fell before it, & it is treacherous. Even holding on to the railing I've slipped twice. It is warm today so I'm hoping most of it will melt.

Twins, I had that "It's Monday again" feeling this morning, & have been thinking about what I can add to future Mondays to make me look forward to them.

Lynlee, I so agree with the J Anniston quote you posted. Oh look! I see your energy! Sending it back to you!

Hi Dee. You must get so weary dealing with inept med co! I wish they would get their act together so your dealings with them would be easier.

Hi Harriet, I hope dd schedule turns out to be exactly what she wants & needs. I keep moisturizer by every sink because I wash my hands so often. HRH will be glad to know that dh & I always use sanitizing wipes on store carts if they are available since he advised everyone to do so a while ago. We haven't been sick (knock wood!) all season.

I've been hearing so much about the series D ownton A bbey & have been meaning to watch it but I hate not seeing things from the beginning so I never did. I noticed recently that our cable has every episode of the first two seasons available, so I watched the first episode last night. And now I'm hooked

Morning y'all...

Harriet...this is the young man I've know since he was 14. He is now 24. He was in my drama group and then later became a volunteer with the drama kids. We've always had a very special connection despite our age differences. I taught his younger sister for 2 years...she was a handful...and then mentored her during her 9th grade. Still do at times.. My "Sargent's" mom is also a friend. He is the one that that was hit with a remote IED driving his supply truck while in a convoy. Fortunately he wasn't hurt really bad because he was wearing his seatbelt.

I have finally be correctly diagnosed as having cluster headaches....only took 15 years. Good news is at least I know I'm not crazy. Bad news is there really isn't any cure nor way to control them. In this particular articule it states that a person's headache usually occurs 1 - 2 hours after a person goes to sleep. In my case, they hit me around 3 in the morning. Sometimes like today I can sort of "feel" a headache behind my eye, but its not full blown. I think its because I am so exhausted after recovering from one that its more like a sore muscle behind my eye.

Kathryn...sometimes when I get one of my headaches I throw up. It becomes so violent I can't get up off the floor and I lay there for hours...moving just makes it happen all over again. Sometimes I shake too. The violent vomiting is what caused my mini-strokes. Its the other reason I am so exhausted after some of my headaches. I feel for you......

Twins, Thank you for the starter-upper!

I've pulled something in my upper right back around the shoulder, mid-back muscle and that right "wing" spot. It hurts to turn my head to the left or right, stretches KILL me, and I'll be "Baby-Stepping" my day today.

I have plenty of reading to catch up on and several outlines to complete, so in an "odd"- maybe this is a blessing in disguise?

Anyway, I'll be Thinking of all of You today! I'll try to "pop in" later this evening.

I will miss you!

Back from Chiro. He was very gentle. Says my neck had to be "out" from before and it is so used to it that it hurts to be where it should be. He will see me again on Wednesday.

I finally got the blog pictures up. 2 of the house and some of the snow. It seems that there is something missing on each wall so I can't take a picture of it yet. DH will finish the blinds today so that will help. I have to unpack a few more things for decor.

Then the next job is putting the cupboards back together. I am moving a lot of things to places where I use them more. A year ago, when we moved in, I just put things away. Now I know there is a more efficient place for them - but first I have to find a home for what is already there. You know the drill.

It is chilly and rainy here, and, as I look out, I can't see the mountains. Makes for a dreary day.

Hope the flu or norovirus skips the rest of us. Hugs for OKay and Kathryn.
