you also are the least selfish person I know
Very well said. I agree.
Helia - maybe give yourself a pampering day? It is most definitely deserved!
I'm making silly mistakes. My mind is mush. I addressed Easter cards wrong - Thankfully I noticed it before dropping them into the mail. I found clothes in dryer that I normally hang up. I'm finding things that I put in wrong places - I'm just not with it. I'm okay with all this and know this is probably normal reaction. Grief is a process.
DMom has called 4 times this morning with something else for me to do. would I please fill out papers for this.....would I call and take care of that.....need to write Thank you note to them....etc. I am capturing it on a notepad and It will get done. Not today....but soon.
MPB decided to give a little excitement this morning. VDFriend called this morning to let us know water was running out of our office door.

Turned out a float stuck....resulting in 30 gallons of extremely concentrated soap being dumped. DH insisted that he will take care of it alone. Assured me over and over that he has it covered. Normally I would insist on helping, but I'm aware that I need a break.
Lunch prep is underway but I've decided we are ordering pizza for supper. K.I.S.S.

((OK and dmom)) Good for you for letting dh take care of it and realizing you need a break.
Thank you ladies for letting me vent and for your support and understanding. You are really a wonderful bunch. Lucylee, you and your dh sound just like me and dh on the issue of emails! I do feel I was being selfish, looking just at myself. There is a tension, though, between doing for others and taking care of oneself, and I think this is a sign that I'm not walking that line very well. It is also true that I have been kind of down lately too, and dh's email was the last straw. I emailed him back and said many of the same things I said here, and he called me from work (he never ever does that! He said he had a 10 minute gap in his schedule for some reason. . . . . ) to apologize and make sure I was OK. He was very affirming and supportive. I broke down on the phone. I am known for being such an emotionally stable person that I think he is kind of concerned. . . . Maybe hormones are playing a role? Does this sort of thing happen in perimenopause?? He won't be home until 8:30-ish, after his exam is over.
Anyhow, I am feeling better. The dgirls did an admirable job of preparing the house for the egg dyeing party, even to going shopping for some snacks. I helped with the tidying and putting away and shook a stick (is that the right phrase?) at the upstairs bathroom so at least it is socially acceptable. The a.m. routine is done, laundry is going, and I'm hiding out in the play room, getting ready for some quiet study time. I can keep laundry going down here since the laundry room is across the hallway from the play room. I am just finishing lunch. Sometimes, when I'm upset, my appetite disappears.

(Helia) maybe your spirit is telling you you are doing too much for others? We are supposed to take care of ourselves too, you know!
(OKay) I'm glad you are "giving it time" for things to get back to normal. I am glad to read LO is doing good.
Bible study last night was wonderful. I feel like I am all prayed and studied up for future changes and challenges that are coming down the road at us. I am going to make an effort to keep my thinking at the "ready" stage if I can.
They wanted me to come hold one of the baskets at our GFriday services tonight but I'm not sure DH will even be home in time for us to go... he was not even back before I left last eve. so I just left his dinner in the warming oven...but I hate to keep doing that.
I am doing a big cleanup around here; it's mostly papers, but I am organizing DH's things into folders that will look neater on the kitchen table. Better get back to it.

{{{Hugs for Helia & everyone else who needs one!}} I've been in a funk this week off & on since Wed. as well. Sigh
I did get one set done on ex. bike that helped.
One more to do.
baby & 4 yo here now
4th grader is not coming / except the weather may be changing that time will tell.
We've had rain here today.
Next week I might be having the baby longer in the mornings; as the mom has an earlier shift she lit up like a light bulb when I told her I was up and available early. The dad brought by two packages of diapers. I think that means I must be doing okay or am getting more hours? LOL! The granny is off light duty and is back on for the after school time slot for the baby.
Dgd's granny is back on now for Wed. so I've had some schedule changes.

Good afternoon! I hope everyone who observes it has a meaningful and blessed Good Friday.
I was a lazy bum this morning. I slept in until it was time to go to lunch with a friend. When I got up, I found that dFosterCat13 had thrown up all over my comforter, so I get extra laundry duty tonight. I know they can't help it, but I do wish that they would find a place besides my bed. My boss and office mate have the day off, so it is only me here at payroll. At lunch dFriend was talking about her garden plans and I was feeling somewhat envious. I have a rock yard and no place to plant. Then I realized, now that dCat18 is gone, I can have plants INDOORS! She would always eat whatever I planted, especially chives. So I am going to search my garage this weekend for plant pots.
I intend to leave payroll at 3:00 and buy cat food at the vets, then go early to the knit/crochet group with my two finished objects. I will leave there early to get to the church service tonight. After that, I will finish crocheting and putting together the hairpiece for DD11's Easter basket, and download and print some patterns I bought.
I found out that there is no cat adoption clinic tomorrow, so I am trying to put together a lunch with some friends.
{{{helia}}}: Don't blame hormones for breaking down, you are having a hard week.

Helia one of the strongest messages I get from the Holy Thursday service is that we are to allow others to do for us. One might be tempted to focus on Jesus humbling himself and washing the feet of the disciples, but I'm always struck by how hard it was for Peter to allow himself to be tended to by Jesus. For the "Marthas" among us, it is hard to let go and let others take over. Yet if we don't, we are denying them the opportunity to step forward and do for others.
Good Friday service went relatively smoothly. It is always a bit chaotic because it is 'one' service held over three locations so three hymn books, three musical instruments, three choir lofts to arrange ourselves into, etc. The most important part is the weather and it was a bit windy, but above freezing, dry, and intermittent sun so that's as good as we can expect.
Dh and I drove over to the riverside park and the river is still frozen over but we could get the car into the parking lot at the park (and get out again, despite the slush) and there are two areas that are snow-free and large enough to hold the ragtag group that will be there on Easter morning. The minister was saying how said it was that it was going to rain, and I pointed out that the weather forecast has not be correct for the past month so the fact they are calling for rain means it will be sunny. Even today they were calling for rain and/or snow.
After checking out the park, we had lunch out, then I came home, changed, stripped and remade the bed (with summer duvets) and then put one of the duvets into the washer. I've got three loads of laundry from duvets and the mattress pad, plus two more regular loads of sheets and towels.
Dh washed the car and I cleaned it out a bit on the inside (still didn't bother with a vacuum but did wipe it down and sweep it out.) There is so much salt and sand. I also swept out the garage and emptied the garbage cans in the house. We have one 3/4 empty bag on the go and we'll go work on the basement some more and see if we can fill it up before the garbage goes out tonight. I'm trying to get 1 bag a week but since I've got overwhelmed with the task at hand, I'm now just pushing for one bag every two weeks. I did clear out a small box of decorations yesterday when I put out the Easter things. I'm still keeping some things, partly because the apartment building we are looking at has a little 'mantle' outside each apartment to personalize with decorations.

Just got home from a very enjoyable program at the elementary school. From the number of children involved, I'd guess it was all the Kindergartners in the school. There were, of course, the normal number who appeared not to know who they were or where, but most of them were right on the money. And as you know, when little ones screw up they are cute anyway. Dgs took off work to come and so did ddil. So dggd had Grandma & Grandpa, both parents and Great-Grandma there to see her dance. They all wore T-shirts with the words "Dancing Through Kindergarten" on the front. Did all sorts of things ranging from a square dance routine to jumping rope (with floppy useless ropes) to hula hoops. We were amazed at how much better dggd does with a hula hoop than she did last year. Altogether it lasted nearly and hour and was totally enjoyable.
Weather here today is gorgeous. Forecast had been for mostly cloudy and possible rain. So far very little cloudiness and no rain. Temperature 61.7 degrees at the moment.

MamaP - it is good to see you posting!
CI -
** Attended LO party and help do Mom type activities
** Took pictures of egg hunt
** Stopped by funeral home and got another dozen of the video DVD's ordered & paid for
** Reviewed & signed off on funeral expenses
** Reviewed & signed off on Daddy's death certificate
** picked up booklet with pictures of flowers received and the cards
** Paid for some extra expenses
** Went to bank and cleaned out DParents deposit box contents. After the papers are gone through the papers will be returned next week. I know we need copies of marriage license and I'm not sure about other items so I just got everything.
** loaded up and went to deliver florist stands, but they were closed. argh!
** Nine phone calls received from DMom.
DSon is on his way here. He is coming to help filled out paperwork (applying for pension, social security, etc). DSon called and asked if there was anything he could do. I admitted that the papers needed to be filled out but I was brain dead and didn't feel comfortable doing it yet. DSon volunteered to do it. He is also going to move furniture out and shampoo DMom's living room carpet. Plans are in progress to get DMom new chair(s). Maybe that will get done tomorrow....if not then maybe next week.
