Freezing rain here too. Wrote ds begging him to reconsider the border run.

My night's sleep was not great according to the fitbit. I won't bother any more with the melatonin because it didn't make a difference the second time I tried it. And I won't bother stopping the clocks because I still wake up once an hour. Not always on the house but once an hour except for one three hour stretch where it was at the 90 minute mark. Not sure how much longer I'll wear the fitbit at night - the data is interesting but it isn't really pointing to a solution for more rest.

I've exercised, eaten, put away the Easter decorations and put out spring ones, emptied the dishwasher and stripped and remade the bed. I still have to s2s. Then I'll get to work on the taxes.

A different morning here. Dd14 woke up with an eye swollen half shut. She's had some issues with her eyes recently that we've been watching, but nothing too extreme - until this a.m. She has an appt. at 11:30, but it took a bit of back and forth to get that set up, and dd14 only has access to her phone between classes.

I did my good morning start, which was helpful.

Then, I rushed out to WW to weigh in (down 0.1, basically the same; a bit discouraging but at least it's not up) and then called dd14 again. I decided not to stay for the WW meeting b/c then I needed to call the pedi office back, etc. I did stop by the bank en route home and got that errand done. Home, I took care of a couple emails, including one to the moms group re: cleaning party next Friday.

I need to leave in 10 minutes to pick up dd14. I'm going to get taxes ready to go in the mail. I can do that either en route to picking up dd14 or en route home from her appt.

DH didn't learn anything new from doctor. However a slew of possible bad things have been ruled out. Doc did another hands on examination and confirmed the ultrasound results didn't show anything wrong. DH will take a round of antibodies and see if that helps any.

DH and I enjoyed eating a relaxed lunch together.

What a brave student/soldier to go on to school with an eye swollen shut, helia. I can't imagine that my dd would do that - I think the press of potential questions and attention would keep her home. I hope you find out quick answers for her and that it turns out to be easily handled.

((Emptynester)) for queasy-uneasy day and so much poking and prodding. The trip sounds like fun. I don't do well on trains but everybody else loves 'em! Lots of photo ops.

Lilac, I think I was under the impression you had posted because I saw your "light on" and just assumed. Hope your dsil gets good news.

Also best wishes for Mr. OKay and Mr. Emptynester as they hear from drs. Oh, I see that Mr. OKay already did.

And to Lilac's dh benefiting from prescription, starting a new habit of being "off" a habit. That can be tough, but rewarding.

Lynlee, I think any interesting exhibit can be ruined by too much crowding. When we went to the History of the Bible exhibit, they were scrupulous about single-file, which probably did help, although I think some people were frustrated they couldn't just scoot around and get out of there quicker. I know you enjoyed the grandchildren, though.

Good job on books instead of hooks, Elizabeth.

The lightning storm here last night was pretty impressive. It kept Tobias, who usually ignores the weather, half-frantic and sleepless all night, which bothered our sleep. (No vocalization and he doesn't jump on us or anything, just restlessly moves from noisy activity to noisy activity. Last night he found an empty gift bag in our room and rattled it until we banished him. Then he became "pitiful kitty", pawing at the bedroom door, getting it to bump. Sigh.) HRH says we should keep him awake all day! Unbelievably, it would also be the night that dd mis-set her alarm clock, waking me at 4:00 a.m. (She turned it off and went right back to sleep, also had slept through Tobias and the lightning!) I just could NOT win.

OKay, glad DH's tests showed nothing serious wrong.

Sure wish everybody could sleep well. I sleep pretty good most of the time when I finally get to sleep. It's the waking up part I don't do well.

Grey day here, might get some rain, but then again we might be too far south to get what's coming into florida.

Yesterday I went to post office, grocery store, made dinner in the crock pot, made large veggie tray for funeral later. Helped with funeral fron 4:30 to 9:30. We had planned some left over salads from an earlier group lunch, finger foods and deserts. Then people started coming in with pans of lasagna, pulled pork, etc. etc. and we were hustling setting up more tables, had both ovens going, and it was a lot of work.

Today was a lot of paperwork with DH, computer problems to solve, some conversations about a couple of the jobs we had in front of us. 1 I discovered in time that we don't like the business this guy does and we decided to just decline to work for him. Controversial, so DH said, nope not getting involved.

I have 2 LOL out drying; folded up all the done stuff yesterday; have a pile of stuff needing extra attention, spotting, etc., and that's next. Slowly getting through the backlog of odds and ends around here. Feels good.

I'm sorry I'm not being more social here today. . . I'm taking a quick break.

Yeah, she was fine going to school, Harriet, though her eye did look kind of odd. It was not swollen completely shut, but it was clearly quite swollen, the lower lid. I guess she didn't care; she said she could tell some kids noticed when they talked to her but didn't say anything. One friend just asked, "What happened to your eye?" I think she appreciated that candidness!

My day so far:
x phone calls arranging to get an appt. for dd14 today
x WW
x bank
x tax checks written out and prepped for the mail - all DONE with taxes now! We will need to pay our CPA when that bill comes.
x a.m. routine - except for making the bed. this is a trend I would like to reverse
x picked up dd14 from school
x dd14 to Dr. appt.; she was seen quickly and she has a sty in her eye - she's not contagious so I took her back to school. Warm compresses on her eye 2x/day.
x post office box to put letters in the mail
x lunch
x started lol
x discovered and then cleaned up 3 areas where some critter (the cat, I think. . ) has been vomiting in the house. Maybe a hair ball? SHe doesn't tend to have those.
x cleaned out litter box; put in all new litter. The child whose job this is (dd17?) has NOT been keeping up with it. Grrr....
x brought in the mail and sorted it
x rewashed crockpot; dfriend R washed it last night, but sometimes he's not the best dishwasher. Funny,I thought he'd be very careful and thorough with things like that since he is an MD. He does wash his hands religiously.
x dfriend S2 stopped by to drop off her ds2 and ds5 for dd17 to watch. She got here before dd17 did. Her ds2 is sound asleep; she deposited him on the living room rug! I offered her a bed. . . .

Dd17 is home. She brought a friend home w/ her.

Next:
- switch laundry twins
- make bed
- print out letter for dfriend S and R authorizing them to make medical decisions in our absence.
- write out list of meals in fridge and freezer for the girls
- PACK; it is just for 2 nights so I don't need that much.

I think we're aiming to leave around 4, 47 minutes from now, though dh won't be home until 4-ish - and he hasn't packed yet. I think exercise is not going to happen for me today. THe hotel has a work out room so maybe tonight, or definitely tomorrow.

I finished planting the last of tomato & peppers that I started in Feb. It looks like 5 of the 6 tomato/pepper plants already in the ground survived the late winter storm! I put several inches of hay over them before the storm hit, but had little hope of them making it through the ice, 40mph winds and mid 20 degree temps. However, just because they are still alive, I suspect they may be so shocked to not be viable plants. These are heirloom varieties that are not easily replaced (can't buy starts in local nurseries). Time will tell if they will make it......

Timer just went off to remind me to get out the door for school pickup. *POOF*

Hi again everyone! My arm is feeling better, but I am continuing the ibuprofen for swelling like the doctor said. I have houseplants coming up. Hopefully, the cats will not eat them. DResidentCat13 may, but it was the oldest one (RIP) that was the worst culprit. I have ordered meds and worked on my document today. Fridays I usually go to the knit/crochet group at the yarn shop. Not happening tonight, 11 more days of no crochet. So, I will work on the database project, which is becoming quite fun (yes, I AM a geek). I will also cut up and freeze a ham that has been thawing in the refrigerator and do some laundry.

Kathryn-in-Canada: Don't turn the clocks back on. That is what started you on the habit of waking every hour. Most likely the habit will go away given time and no chimes.
