Home from taking LO to school. He asked to ride the school bus home today. That means I will have an extra >30 minutes to get things done today.
Paperwork.
is.
overwhelming.
me.
I need to put together a plan to recover from this before it gets worse.
But first, I need to find and pay the 1st of the month bills that refuse to accept anything except a hand written check.

I'm doing reasonably well at the p.m. routine getting to at least part of it so h. can fix his own lunch. I need to put some time in each day on the table so I can conquer it and then stay on tip of it.
Doing pretty good on the dailies here dinner duds dishes.
Plugging away at the weekly stuff.
I need to get out side and water the front and continue with yard work plans for the spring.

Well there! I should feel better having accomplished ALL my DPC's! 2 to make Dr appointments for dh and me, 1 to make appt to get my hair trimmed before I go home and 1 to DB/DSisIL to see when I could come make an overnight visit -next Wed-Thurs. Had to change my Dr. appointment since it's the day we're supposed to leave here. Have a month's reprieve. (Can I get 30 pounds off in that time? 20? 10? 5?)

Wanted to at least get up to see DB/DSIL in The Villages before I leave here. I'm more free now that GD is gone.
Also packed the smaller of my suitcases to go home. Just left a few things in my closet to wear over the next couple of weeks. I'm pecking away at packing.
DD and DSonIL plan to go to one of the Gulf beaches this Saturday. So I'll be free that day too. Hmmmm....what shall I do? I could be brave and go to Disney alone -nah! Not on a Saturday!
Plan to go to Trivia night with dd tonight around 7ish. I'm glad she can participate with some of her colleagues and enjoy herself. See her getting somewhat nervous about gd coming home for a week in June. Their case worker asked her this week if they were planning on gd coming home for Memorial Day weekend. They have decided not to do that: 1) it's really too soon for a home visit and 2) they will be getting her the next week for a week's summer vacation.
Guess I need to get busy with some of the other housework. Seems good to be able to do it now and not have to be out of the house at 7:30am. Also am trying not to feel I HAVE to go to dsisil's every day. It's a 22-mile round trip to do that. So I've intentionally told her a couple of days ahead "I'll probably be over.....".

I can't believe this weather. Snow in May? Freezing temperatures? How did your plants do, OKay? We are still in grey rain mode here. I love that we're getting this much rain. Yesterday I was out with DH helping and then running errands. It was raining so hard at one point I just pulled into a shopping center and waited for a break. I couldn't see the road very well. And there were a couple accidents on the roads. I was glad to get home.
My morning routine these days is hit-or-miss. Seems like I am always playing catch-up. I get things done as I can...but it's usually after they needed done. OKay, I can't believe you get that much done in your first half hour. It takes me that long to shower and wash my hair. The one thing I do without fail is take my meds/vitamins, get my coffee, get dressed, wash face brush teeth (I usually shower at night or afternoon if I've been out working).
I totally forgot the month changed and I hadn't done my desk chores, so I am part way through them so far. I guess it's a good thing that I'm not desperate for our paychecks at the end of the month, so I don't have that to remind me.
I need to do more pickup in the kitchen as I'll be working at the table with an insurance auditor. Thank goodness that paperwork is all ready.

Was working on my 5x5, recyclables and the refrigerator, and HRH suggested he had time to take my ddad to the barber.
So I switched gears and cleaned my ddad's room and washed his linens while they were gone.
The strange weather is still wet and cold, so I may have to wait until tomorrow to work with plants. I thought it was supposed to brighten up today... ...
OKay, HRH's theory is that it is financial - if you buy lower quality ingredients but salt them enough, they give the impression of better food. Restaurant management can contract for less expensive meats if they train chefs to compensate with inexpensive salt. I think another reason is because their actual recipes might not stand up to the competition otherwise. This is the criticism Olive Garden got recently in an article I read - that their higher sodium-content menu is meant to hide the fact that their dishes don't stand alone as good Italian food otherwise. Now, I admire OG, but the last time dd and I tried to eat there for a special occasion, we were both so unhappy with the super salty dishes that when I offered it to her again, she turned me down and said we might as well go to McDonalds. (Hard for me to explain that OG would have atmosphere, a waiter, parmesan for the salad, napkins... ... these things don't register to her.)
Harmony, nip it. Nip it in the bud. I would be VOCAL. Does Mr. Harmony feel embarrassment to have to remind others of his injuries, etc? Or is he just not communicative enough to get his points across? If it's the former, that's understandable, yet he needs to address it. But if it's the latter, SPEAK UP. If there is no support for a church program, the program falters and ends. That's the way of it - it happens all the time. Why should Mr. Harmony feel that he should work alone on any program/project that has no support from the church? That program should end. Especially the woman who just wants furniture moved - I would let her know quickly that she needs to be sure there will be helpers or that she should not ask Mr. Harmony to continue. "Volunteer" doesn't mean you are given a list of chores and the list-makers walk away. That's not volunteering.

Have handled phone calls, emails, and got dh's tax inquiry ready to go out in the mail (you file without supporting receipts and if you get flagged, you have to send in the chits - he got flagged.)
Went out to the corner of yard to see if I could see the carnage and there's no sign of anything untoward. I think I'm glad (especially since I went out there before breakfast!!!)

Harriet - that is very interesting....and sad that the cooks almost have to almost poison us before we like their food.

I wonder if anyone offers sodium free food. Hum....I don't remember ever seeing a sodium free hamburger on the menu....but maybe I just missed it.
Papers have been gathered into a HUGE pile. Typically I try to process all the like papers (medical, utilities, etc). But that would mean processing all the papers before I could finish up 2012 tax prep. So I decided to sort the papers by month. I labeled 17 index cards. One for each of 2012 months and the other 5 for the months in 2013. I've spent 2 hours sorting papers. No decisions being made....just put the piece of paper in the correct month spot. I'm taking a break to get a drink and snack. There are about a couple hundred more papers to sort, then I can start the month by month processing. I hope to get those sorted before DH arrives home for lunch. NOT having fun but I'm determined to gut my way through all these papers so I can have **some** sort of organized approach to start processing them.

Hello Dear Ladies,
Crazy weather day. Cold and windy. Dson17 got everything prepared for a wood fire just in case we need it. May 2 and still needing heat, unbelievable!
Did dailies today. Haven't advanced from that yet.
Got several complaints that my HE washer is smelly so am running it empty with a tablet to clean it.
Yesterday had to run up to the dentist office for Dson23 who had a sudden expense and needed help with it. Why is dental care so expensive?
And co-worker Sharon text me that her dad is back in hospital with bacterial infection and pneumonia. She has a rough road ahead of her with elder care.
Off to finish making lunch. Then off to work.
Great day to all!

I agree, Harriet. The woman who wants the moving done is someone he considered a friend. We were friends with both her and her husband, now divorced. DH tried to be there for them in their difficult time... and she specifically asked for his help, etc. I've found out she is already moved to the other coast and wants this stuff put into her storage unit. We don't even have suitable truck with lift...
I suppose DH just isn't comfortable turning everybody down, saying I can't do this..it's a guy thing for sure. I did speak up about the community service deck thing he did last weekend about getting help, then they only got a couple people for a huge job and he had to run around and find more. Lady in charge had no idea what it would take to do this... And of course, he does not like me worrying and moaning to him about being careful, etc.
I guess I should just try to take it one day at a time and not worry so much. I need to save my energy for getting stuff done around here.

This year when the guy called wanting help with the grounds we got off that list h. just could not do it and was working on Sat. like this weekend again. I was not comfortable showing up to help when it was just guys and I had a low last time I helped them with the mowing. Sigh sadly we have not been able to be as active now the we are working again and more. I missed the ladies study they had for 4 weeks on Wed. nights.
Today I'm back in from feeding the birds, pullets, fryers & hens.
I've opened up the top of the coop for the pullets to get some light, turned off the heat lamp it was cold last night. I was going to mow but it's still too wet and cold to do that.
I found a dog kennel I could use for a rooster pen but don't know how I'd get it here and set it up. Chicks could still fit through it. $40 is the price on it. It's up the street. It has no top or roof on it however. I was going to talk it over w/ h. but last night was not a good night for that for various reasons and I wanted to think it over first.
The grand kids will be here towards the end of the month and in to June I'm thinking that we can paint the coop when they are here they seem to love to paint!

The chickens will not care how good of job we do or don't do. I have the paint color picked out.
