Loved having the morning at home. LO played outside most of the morning. I taught LO how to play Annie-Annie-Over and we did that until his arm gave out. DBrother stopped by to check cattle. He spent some time with LO talking about his current efforts with a rope. LO has decided he is going to pull a tree over using a rope. DH and I have both told LO the tree was too big and strong to be pulled over by a person using a rope, but that hasn't discourage LO a single bit. He is determined to do it. I find it kinda fun to watch him. He has pulled and pulled and pulled, but the tree hasn't budged. He isn't discouraged and just keeps trying from a different angle to pull it over. BTW - the tree with the rope tied around the truck is right next to the big hole where LO is attempting to dig to China.

Helia - Congratulations to DS!! I love hearing about your children and their struggles/successes.

That is such good news for ds, helia - very telling that your dh even asked you not to share details with your friends, since it means that he (college faculty-experienced) knows how good it really sounds. Opinion of someone who barely knows what she's talking about, but I think that minor would serve him well. Oh, I hope dd wins the contest!

It's amazing how suddenly the back yard is a jungle. He's tried to get the mower out after work a few times, but it started raining again every time.

Exactly HRH's experience at the first of the week, BookSaver. He says he finally just "mowed the water". At low places, he saw some water spurting from the mower discharge along with the grass, and just kept going. He says he needed to pressure-wash the interior of that mower deck anyway.

You can tell ds that my Mother's Day gift from ds (last night at 10:30, because he found out he has to work a 24-shift Sunday) was greatly appreciated and it was another tomato plant in a variety he remembers me planting during his childhood.

Yesterday I got the package (bluebird book) postage-ready for mailing and got it to the PO for dfirstmil's Mother's Day gift. Also mailed Dsecondmil's fold-out layered card and at the last minute, a card for dfil's poor wife, who just deserves some appreciation right now, poor thing, back and forth to rehab place. Had promised to help one of dd14's friends sneak and buy a small gift for her mother, so we managed that espionage after school.

Today dd14 and I visited dfil in rehab, then managed some errands at the pet shopping place and stopping for gas, etc.

Back from a longish walk with dh. We started out and my knees got bad, quickly, and on a downhill (it is usually incline that bothers them. Dh was concerned because I kept walking farther and farther away from the hotel (and further downhill.) But I had a cunning plan. I wanted to see the river and then pick up one of the free shuttle buses and take it back up the hotel, closer to the hotel.

We jumped on the first one we saw and dh asked if I knew where it was going. I pointed out it was free so it didn't matter. If we didn't like where we ended up, we just don't get off. There were maps on board so we each grabbed one but the bus didn't go where it should have. Turns out there's a run or something and streets on its normal route are closed so it took a different path.

We ended up at a farmer's market and so we got off, walked that and had lunch. Picked up some kettle corn (thinking of SuzLew) and then walked back to the hotel, stopping at the grocery store I found online. It is perfect and the prices are excellent.

It threatened rain but didn't rain on us, although I was soundly sprinkled by plum sauce from dh's lunch. I didn't realize the open container was in his take-away container when I went to toss them, and had my arms full so was holding it, tilted, close to my body. My sweater, pants and hat got showered. I cleaned up as best as I could at the washroom but should tend to the rest of it now.

Helia, I'm sure you are very proud of all your dkids.

Loved looking at Kathryn's pictures. DH has decided he cannot travel much in the car any more. Until he gets his hip fixed, that is. The 3 hours in the car to the east coast last weekend almost did him in. (Dee) I can't imagine making the trip you will be making in your car. I could do it but DH couldn't right now. I sure get stiff myself.

Been so busy. I have 3 more days posts to catch up on. Computer has been tied up many evenings, running scans, putting in 2 programs, and we've managed to get it all fixed ourselves this time. Yahoo!

I'm behind on everything around here. Behind at my desk even though I got a stack of statements paid this morning. Behind with deposits at the bank. Laundry got horribly behind and I just got another load presoaked, washed and hung up and a whole bunch put away. There's some ironing, more to put away and more loads. The house doesn't look very good. I've been trying to pick up as I go around. Did get a decent dinner made tonight and I have a couple days leftovers ready.

Outside work is behind also. DH tried to install a part in one of the trucks and discovered it couldn't be done without a lift, so that is still to do. Even he's behind! Oh, I met DD at her work site when she was in town and helped her for a couple hours. Man, she works hard! It was hard for me to do what she does routinely. I told her whenever she came into town I would join her up there and help out. She must rush back to get her DKids from school, and this might help.

Our Thursday night function at church went nicely and I helped with that. Today I went to thrift store and got DH some more work clothes.

Well, I guess I will get caught up little by little. Our Small group is here tomorrow eve. and I've given myself permission to not have everything perfect. If I were to attempt that I'd have to clean all day tomorrow and this evening. Not going to happen. My knees are still very sore, especially the left one. It is a tad better, but still aches. I probably should have had it checked out, hoping not to have to do that.

Thinking about Lucylee today. I hope everything went well.

I'm wilted after doing some shopping yd. work and other stuff today it's muggy and humid out feels like I could use another shower! Next door to them there is a bday party any way so it's probably good that I did not get going on that.

Today we tried out new a cafe' that's in a new bulding we use to love the food in the other place before I was diag. with diab. sigh they messed up our order the gal wrote the wrong thing down I could not get what I was going to what I used to have before had too many carbs; but it was good once they got it right what I had taco salad was better for me anyway.

This morning after gardening for my ex. I went to a craft fair for my Art Date found loads of ideas enjoyed talking with other artists having some time for me. Got some seeds and herbs and veggies to plant also. Enjoyed not having to do anything for any one else just me!

At the store forgot to give my coupons to the checker! Was back later for some thing else forgot to bring my receipt in! So sidetracked these days! Some one should do dailies but I'm on strike!

Have another job mowing next door just the front eow.

Good Evening Everyone!

Dh and I have had a quiet weekend so far. Not sure if dfam#1 will be here tomorrow or not. We've made two trips to ds#2 house to doggie-sit Sugar while they are away. We let her out, make sure she has food and water and sit with her for about an hour to keep her company for a while before leaving. They have left a lamp on in living room and light in the kitchen as well as a country music station on tv for her. Her blanket is in the kitchen to curl up on; there is a gate at the kitchen door to make sure she stays in there. Ddil's dbro will stay there tonight, so we'll probably just have to go up one more time, tomorrow afternoon.

Dee, if you had been at Disney today you might have seen my dgd18 and her band at the coronation of Disney's newest princess, Merida (from the movie Brave). They had two shows today, 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. They are doing one more show tomorrow at Epcot, 9:30 am I think. Although she played drums with the band this year, dgd is one of the dancers for this show.

Helia, that is good news about ds. I think he is destined for a great future.

Harmony, I'm sorry that your knees are still sore! Many times I've wished I were close enough to help with your office work.

Kathryn, I enjoy reading your travelogues! Touring the country with you and Ken would be a wonderful experience!

OKay, is the game you taught LO a local game; how does it go? I've never heard one by that name.

I didn't realize Annie-Annie-Over wasn't a game known by all. The more I think about it though, it makes sense since the house shapes/styles are different in other parts of the country/world. Bare bone basics of game = one person is in front of a one story house and the other person in back of the house. The person with the t-ball (or tennis ball) hollars in a sing-song way Annnie Annnie OOOOver to signify the ball is about to be thrown over the top of the house. The person on the other side of the house hollars back Cooome on OOOver meaning they are ready to catch the ball as it comes over the top of the roof. That is what LO and I did today to exercise his throwing arm. There is more to the Annie-Annie-Over game (running around the house to tag the person before they can catch the ball), but we didn't do that part of the game.

This afternoon we met DGS6 at local park and played for 2 hours. I don't think DGS6 and LO stopped running the whole time. They should sleep well tonight. :0

OK, I'm laughing... I'd never heard of Annie Annie Over, either, and the description tells me why! Obviously we weren't throwing balls over apartment houses here in Manhattan... But we didn't upstate, or down the Jersey Shore, either. We have pitched roofs around here - it would be hard to throw a ball over even a small bungalow.

We had an impressive thunderstorm for a chunk of the afternoon. (And I did not have a migraine... hooray, she whispers... Things are improving.)

Vistied the friend's aunt - which would be easier if she wasn't being demanding about it. She's slipping, though... it's like a child who simply expects that people will do things for her. Oh, well...

Wow, tonight was amazing!

We ate at the restaurant where, years ago, Randy Traywick came in wanting to be on stage but willing to work washing dishes. Anything to be close to the Opry. He ended up doing the cooking. And changed his last name to Travis. I had read about the Nashville Palace but we had the Opry address in the GPS so were trying to shut it off so we could look for the restaurant. The ding-dang voice would not stop telling us to turn-around, so dh pulled into a parking lot to help me turn it off and I kept telling him to fully park because we were at the restaurant and he couldn't understand why I wanted him to park until he looked up and saw the sign. Then he just said, "Hmmm, right, yes, I meant to pull in here!"

Dinner was fine. We ate out on the patio because it was fine (little cool, but no rain.)

Then it was on to the Opry. Great lineup tonight and I kept thinking a couple of the acts might top Charlie Daniels but it wasn't even close! That man and his band (especially his piano player) brought it and the performance was amazing. So happy we went. There was a lot of bluegrass so I got all the fiddles I need to be satisfied.

It was insane trying to get out of the parking lot, so we parked again, went into the neighbouring mall and got ice cream Wasn't as good as it was in North Carolina.

Now to get some rest because tomorrow is another day.
