Just thinking about that candy, Kathryn. Hmmm....we have TSC both here and up home -will have to try some of that for dh. 5.5 hours in the car? Way too long. I wouldn't be able to move. I'm stiff and unsteady after an hour! Although it's usually 2 - 2.5 between stops.
DD and I went to Hollywood Studios at Disney last night. Had a small supper (good thing because this morning I realized my 2nd diabetes pill was still in my pocket!" Only went to see "Fantasmic" -their light/laser show. We were home by about 11. Slept good -thank goodness -night before was awful!
Got S kype up and running on this computer but our chairman from church council couldn't get hers working. She emailed me late last night that she thinks she has it now, so we'll try again this afternoon. Want to use it so I can be "present" at the church council meeting Monday. Usually I'd be back home by now, but dd couldn't take time before this coming week. DD has been given permission to take Friday off IF she can find a sub. But principal warned her it may be impossible for this week, but had no problem with her taking it off. Would give us a much earlier start on Friday if she can. In fact we'll probably go to my db's in The Villages Thursday night in that case. That will put us nearly 2 hours up the road come Friday. And a much greater chance for us to get home sometime Saturday afternoon. A 2-day trip is getting to be a bit much for me now, but I'll handle it this year.
DH is hoping for us to go back to Branson, MO this year on our way south (slightly out of the way I might add). If we do that, we'll stop to see friends in IN and MO.
Thinking about LucyLee this morning and hoping she finds new peace in the midst of all she's going through.
DD and I are going to "Mayfaire" in town today so expect she'll soon be up and runnin'. I'm off. BBL

Today we have a break from Saturday ball games. In honor of Mother's Day they didn't schedule any games for this weekend.
I need to do some food prep for tomorrow's family gathering/cook-out. Also need to finish up Mother's Day gifts/cards for both of our Moms.
Thinking of Kathryn with the noisy night. Our new housing development neighbors are probably not thinking kind thoughts about us. It was a bit noisy here last night. Yesterday 72 head of calves arrived (from Florida) and added to our pasture. Hopefully they will settle in soon and quiet down.

Actually the hotel was mostly quiet. We didn't get to bed until almost 1 a.m. because we were up ourselves. Yet I never heard our neighbours arrive back (I definitely hear the "Free shots!!!" and a cheer before dinner which is why I had a bad feeling.) Of course, it is possible they are still out.
Dh was the one that woke me up, although the phone in the next room keeps ringing (I think it is the neighbours on the other side.)
Dh and I bought tickets this morning to the Opry tonight. The seats weren't very good when dh looked last week but we're guessing a block opened up because not only did we get fairly good seats, we were able to use a discount code as well. The headliner is the Charlie Daniels Band. I had told Lucylee I was looking for fiddles. I think I found them (although I have the place she recommended circled on my map.)

This trip has been much fun so far.
We had a wonderful visit with Harriet. We spent the day at her house just visiting. HRH and dh had lots to talk about and Harriet and I talked non-stop. She showed me the changes since I'd last been there. Most impressive was the quilting studio, a separate building just steps out the patio door from her bedroom. It has a darling little porch and is just the right size for her.
Walking around the property, I commented on a 4” wide path around the house. It was out too far to be formed by rain coming off the roof, and it was too close for an invisible dog fence. Turns out it's the path Sammy, their German Shepherd, has worn into the lawn as she patrols around the house, keeping her family safe.
We had lunch there, then picked up dd14 from school and went across the road to Harriet's childhood home and looked through it and walked back to the dog kennels. Her father used to breed beagles and had a state of the art (for the time) kennel.
We went out for pizza and then ice cream before dropping dd14 back at school so she could attend an event there.
I love going to Harriet's. Her home is incredibly homey both inside and out. Inside the living room feels warm and welcoming with her quilts and wall hangings around. Harriet was talking about how she thinks the Blue Ridge Parkway is good for lowering blood pressure and dd14 said that if their driveway was a bit longer, it would do the same thing. I don't think it needs to be any longer; when we turn in and go through the woods to the pasture, and see the house in the clearing, there's a feeling we're arriving home in every sense of the word.
After 7 hours of talking, I felt it was time to say goodbye. We made a hasty exit because a lingering goodbye would just be too sad. Now that we know how close she is to drive to, I'm hoping we can visit more often.
We picked up breakfast food, replaced the inverter so I can plug my computer into the car power outlet (the old inverter failed dramatically on the way here) and then went back to the hotel to do work and laundry.
There was an email inviting me to preach for May 19 so I will be spending the next couple of days working up a service before the conference starts. Pentecost is one of my favourite services of the year so I'm pleased to be able to preach it and to have a chance to preach after learning so much at the conference.
Friday morning we left from the hotel, stopping for gas and then to pick up cherry candies at the Tractor Supply Store. Harriet had sent me a bag at Christmas and they are wonderful and addictive so I bought four bags!
We are drove over the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains. We decided to stick with the interstate and not take the route with the panoramic vistas. The squiggles on the map just seemed too daunting to me, and we got off to a late start, although we gain an hour on the drive today, moving into the central time zone.
It was a good decision because of weather as well. I had wanted to stop at a rest stop part way through and go for a walk, but it was raining as we drove by so we ended up not stopping at all. We did take the time to drive a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway but I agree with dd14 that their driveway is just as nice, just shorter!
We got into Nashville around 6:30 Central time. We are staying at a downtown hotel so unloaded the car at the valet parking spot and then took the car to the self-park garage. Between the time we unloaded the car and got back to move it, rain had started. We took the car to the garage and spent quite some time gathering all the little things we'll need and by that time the rain was lighter. By the time we left for supper, it had stopped.
We had dinner at Puckett's. They had a large cancellation so we were able to walk right in 40 minutes before the band came on stage. We ended up with a booth at the side of the stage so had a great view and were really comfortable. Dinner was fabulous, and it was a fantastic show by the One Hitters, who do a show of One-Hit Wonders' hits. The age (and shape) of the musicians amused me but they played for 100 minutes as opposed to me, who barely had the energy to sit there and watch them. So we really enjoyed ourselves.
Between sets (they do another show at midnight) they visited with patrons. Each of them came and talked to us - the draw being that we had come from Canada.
After we left the restaurant at 10:45, we walked around downtown Nashville, catching strains of music coming from bar after bar. It is a warm night and all the windows are opened full so the music pours onto the street. Our walk also took me past all the churches that are hosting the conference so I know where to go on Monday.

Now I really wish I could have stowed away in K and K's car. Harriet's place, Nashville, more fun with K and K. . . . *sigh* 
Our warm weather has left us for a while. High today is forecast to be 63. It is cloudy and gray. Highs the next 2 days are in the 50s. Then, it will bounce back up to the 70s and 80s.
I slept a LOT last night. I fell asleep in my chair in the living room last night. Dh shooed me to bed at 10 pm. I finally got up at 8:30 this a.m. to take care of the puppy; dh did the middle of the night trip outside with her. I think I was exhausted from all the goings on of the last couple of weeks.
I have:
x cleaned up the kitchen
x taken dd14 to the school for the band bike sale; they are raising $$ for their trip to France next spring
x prepped a bill + 2 cards for the mail
x switched laundry, folded a small load
x checked online bills
I am currently doing puppy watch, which means I can't leave the kitchen. The things I need to do, though, are not located in the kitchen. . . Pepper is in here playing with the pup, which is very helpful. Hmm..... I can was up the cookie baking pans which the girls used yesterday. I'll need to leave in about 40 minutes to (1) stop by a post office box; I'm quite sure I've missed the mail (2) pick up dd14 from the school, (3) pick up a friend of dd14's from her synchro team. There is no synchro practice today, so dd14's trio team is going to meet at our house to practice the moves to their trio routine.
Proud mommy note: Dh and I are very proud of ds' academics this year! He has done so well that dh has asked me not to share details with my friends, though I will share his GPA if asked, as my dfriend B likely will. He has done exceedingly well, much better than we thought he would. And he didn't start out with the basic courses; he was able to jump over most of those. He even aced his 300 level Latin class, which he said was harder and more work than his other classes. Now, he's thinking of a math/physics minor instead of Latin. He will also take some linguistic classes, which I think he'll really enjoy! He's off to a fantastic start. Plenty of time to ruin that, the GPA, though. . . LOL! We aren't making too big of a deal about it b/c we don't want the girls, esp. dd17 who is susceptible to this, to feel like they need to keep up. They're each so different.
Later today:
- dd14 has another friend coming over to meet Maia
- I'd like to do some yard work: something as basic as picking up sticks would be helpful. Also want dh's help (he has volunteered) to get rid of a bush that has grown up in our forsythia bunch.

It is a holiday weekend with all the good and bad with it. Felt numb when coming home last night after dealing with so many people, too many crying and screaming kids.
Dson21 said he is having a hard time coming up with a Mother Day's gift. Might suggest a larger pot and some potting soil for the plant that was given to me when Dmom passed.
Another day in the trenches of WM.

Still have to s2s. Realized after posting that I'd never manage to make the deadline if I showered first, so just wore yesterday's clothes. Which were also Thursday's clothes (Harriet wasn't seeing me again on Friday and dh doesn't care!)
Now to do physio and s2s. Dh is going out for an urban hike and taking advantage of the hills here. I'm not. My knees are fine after last night but I don't want to push myself.

Good morning, villagers ~
My family's gathering is this afternoon for pot luck supper. We are planning to go to DMIL's tomorrow, but have not been able to pin her down yet for time.
That's going out of town 2 days in a row, but we don't really mind it for something like this. It's so much easier to drive home and sleep in our own bed than to try to pack for overnight and deal with staying in someone else's house.
I'm waiting on the dryer so I can hang up the clothes right away.
Once that's done, I can s2s and then cut my hair. It's long (though not quite as long as Harriet's) and I cut the bangs last week, so today I just need to trim about 1/2 inch off the rest.
Then I will write checks, take them to the post office, get a few things at the dollar store, and pick up flowers at the Tiny Town Florist. I saw some very pretty bouquets at Sam's yesterday, but I like to support the local business when given a choice.
DH is sleeping in. I don't know if he wants to do some mowing before we leave, or come home early to do some this evening, or both. It's amazing how suddenly the back yard is a jungle.
He's tried to get the mower out after work a few times, but it started raining again every time.
Ah there's the dryer, better get moving!

I never got the letters in the mail. Oh, well. I have had lunch, folded a lol, have another lol ready to go, cleaned up the kitchen (again), chatted with dh, set up the rest of Maia's food for the day.
Dh is out of the shower - now I can run the washer again. And make the bed.
The awards ceremony for the library short story contest is at 2 today. I'm not sure if I'm going or not. Dh will go with dd14 as she is a finalist for her age group (grades 9-10). Dh and I have reservations at a favorite downtown restaurant at 6:30 tonight.
