CUOP from yesterday
delighted to hear from our hikers! Thanks for the updates!
No, Harmony, don't use tape. Take it back to the store, buy the real scratch guard product with help from the salespeople there and have them put it on for you. They do it all the time and they know how to keep bubbles and specks out so you can see through it well. They shouldn't charge to put it on, especially if you explain in advance you are buying something you want done in the store. It's not expensive - the problem usually is that you have to buy a package and it's more than you need, so in that way it doesn't seem a value - don't know what to do about that, of course.
helia, yesterday you said you were hoping I would eat ... that threw me at first, but I guess you read my calorie count from the day before, maybe in H and F, can't remember. Anyway, never fear, that was well planned and nutritious. And then I planned plenty of food for yesterday.
I ended up eating over 2,000 calories yesterday which was a little too much, really. Including a Bojangles biscuit with my own bacon cheese omelet folded on it! (I would put an "embarrassed" smilie, but... I'm not!) Low calorie today again, but fine. And dd and I plan Wendy's together after school. I enjoy their summer chicken salad.

So all we need to find now are Harmony's keys!
Got a longer email from dh which I'll share with you.
I've taken over a thousand photographs from which many will be culled. I didn't have a lot to contribute during the hike but by far I took the most photographs and I have everyone's email address. I'll put the time into creating a photologue and then everyone will have pictures they didn't take the time to take themselves.
Anyway, in some ways I've been the life of the party and I think the world of these kids (and they call me "legendary" as I've shared my stories over the four days). I hope you get the chance to meet them at some point. I love these guys ... in particular five Norwegians (from three groups who didn't know each other).
I've missed sharing this experience with you. But I also know that your knees would not have survived and that would have ruined the experience for you.
This morning I have a tremendous amount of energy and my muscles are recovered and feel good and tight (but also very limber) and ready for the day. Dfriend cannot say the same. He is blistered and sore and tired. I am still exhilarated and full of energy and ready to get going. I couldn't keep up with the twenty-somethings, and I couldn't keep up with dfriend's travel companion <husband of their adventure travel agent so experienced at adventure travel> but I held my own. It seems that I recover far faster than both of them (though the travel agent's husband did better with spending the energy to do things). I'm also all the more looking forward to my mini-trek on Friday to Caral.
Today is the start of Corpus Christi and 50,000 people are expected in the city square. That should be interesting.
The twenty-somethings went out drinking last night, so they aren't down for breakfast yet. I don't want to miss the chance for a fond farewell to them before they go. I didn't see any lights on in Dfriend's room. So I'm sitting in the lobby with my smartphone and keyboard (and getting supportive comments from other guests regarding my setup) waiting for someone to join me for breakfast.

Kathryn, he sounds like he's really enjoying his trip!
MT, glad you found your glucometer, and when I read that I thought the exact same thing Kathryn did, were my keys there too? Fat chance.
Isn't it odd how many of us do the same things. Right now it's getting ready for tests and operations and then there's Lynlee not feeling well. Oh, and broken bones, Elizabeth and Twins DD's. Holding good thoughts we will all come through all of these things successfully.
Elizabeth, too bad you can't take food in for your dd. Doesn't seem fair.
Thank you for advice, Harriet, about scratch guard. I will certainly ask, had no idea there was such a thing.
I'm not worried about my tests, actually. I've done these before, though it will be interesting to see if there's any difference. I have my home bathroom test all ready to take back in. Y'all know what I'm talking about I'm sure. Blek!
This morning was a mailing at church so I was up early. I swear I was half asleep when I got there. Next load of sheets hanging up and towels also. I'm out of space, so that's all for today.
Working at my desk as usual. Some bills paid and lots of organizing of files and copying and filing done. Still more there and then I must look at my schedule. Must make a dentist appointment also, the dr. wants me to have my dental stuff done before I go on bone density medicines. I think this is a new requirement due to the problems that can occur in one's jaw.

Well, I'm adding to the medical stuff. I'll be going in next week for at least one stint. Rats!! I was hoping to get out on the road.
Now to get ready for DH's Dr. appointment. He isn't going to be happy 'cause DH didn't get the colonscopy done before this appointment. But I'm sure he has never argued with scheduling at the big hospitals as Joe Doe - just as high and mighty DR. Doe.
I'm still in shock - but at least I know the procedure as DH had 3 stints last year.

((((MT))) OH shucky darn. You too?
Three SHE's (or DH's) having heart test/surgeries done in the coming few days? WOW!
D status -
- Dishes - caught up! Finally. All dishes clean and put away. Counters & appliances cleaned & shiny.
- Duds - Almost completely caught up. last load in the dryer. Everything else is put away.
- Dinner - ready to serve. Table is set.
- Dollars - in progress. Since the other D's won't need my attention, I can seriously focus on this D

Harriet, I thought you wrote yesterday at some point that all you'd eaten so far was a pear. I was hoping you'd eat much more than that during your day. Is the Wendy's salad good?
SOrry for what probably is an ignorant question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I'm wondering about all the surgeries here. Is getting a stint put in a big surgery? Can it be outpatient? Wondering just what MT and her dh? will be going through. . ..
I feel I've been busy today so far but don't have much to show for it. I have done some emails, some were longer than the norm. Have made dinner dates with our 2 best couple friends in Austin for next week. Now, we need to figure out specific restaurants and get reservations - or not. 2 dear girlfriends of mine will be visiting us together in July. Both used to be in our small group while their dh's were grad students here. One of these friends was among the group with whom I spent a week at the Jersey shore last summer. I have called in to renew one of dd17's scripts. I have spent some time with dh; we're having trouble finding time to chat and connect with schedules - plus, it doesn't help that dh is perpetually attached to his job.
Dh and I did have a spat this morning, but it wasn't too severe. I did get to the optometrist for my appt. My eyes are not too bad after all these years. I have ordered distance glasses from the optometrist for an immoral price (who knew frames were so expensive??
)and have the script for reading glasses, so I can pick up a cheap pair or 2 of those elsewhere. I've cleaned up the kitchen and have had lunch. It is now 1 pm. Maia has her first appt. with our vet at 3, though I'm supposed to bring her in early to fill out paperwork.
I need to get some errands done today; I think I'll try to get those done before Maia's appointment. It would be nice to finish my a.m .routine too. Dh wants to review my resume before he leaves tonight, so I need to get that finished. I've been dragging my heels on that. I will pick up dd15 and friend at 6. We'll hopefully eat a quick family meal at 6:30, and then dd15 wants to go back to the school for the music awards at 7. I haven't decided yet if I'll be joining her or not. . . .I'll let her decide that.
First, I'm going to give Maia her lunch. . . .

Hello Dear Ladies,
Had a post and then lost it.
Busy here making appointments for Dbrother and looking for his insurance cards. Found them! I usually keep all insurance cards together but his was not there. Had put them in my desk drawer for dson while we were in NY.
Called for replacements when I couldn't find them. Also family doc's staff gave me the numbers from the card but most places want the cards, so glad I found them.
Off to the shower.
Great day to all!

Ds is distracting me which is a bad thing. On the other hand, he wouldn't let me eat any lunch until after I had exercised so made me bike beside him while he ran. That was good because I had to go slow so set the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear (out of 21) and had lots of revolutions. Despite gardening two days in a row, and skipping icing and physio one of those days, my knees are doing really great today.
Ds is really into fitness so has sent me a link to a seven minute workout.
http://lifehacker.com/these-12-videos-s ... -499199366
We've been messing around, trying each exercise out. You really need a spotter to make sure you have good form. BTW, they are almost all impossible for me and ds finds several really hard. Surprisingly, I could do the step up onto the chair one. Not for 30 seconds, but several times, completely without pain. Yet stairs sometimes really hurt. Ds wonders if I should be doing stairs two at a time since that forces more use of the leg muscles and doesn't rely on the knee as much.
It isn't raining right now so I'm throwing ds up on the ladder now to work on the gutters. There are several blocked ones.
