My favorite would have to be "Cinderella". When that movie came out, I so wanted to go see it and was bedridden with rheumatic fever. Friends down the street gave me the record and the picture book that went with it. I about wore that record out. Have no idea what finally happened to it. I particularly liked "Gus-gus". Still brings a smile. Just heard something about Cinderella today as I was passing the TV. Talked about her gratefulness and how her life turned out. They were expressing how we all need to be grateful in the small things.
I won't say I'm officially 'well', but certainly a lot better today. We were discussing as we went to bed last night, going to UC this morning. I have a little cough but nothing out of the ordinary. I just finished taking care of yesterday's clean dishes & washed up the dirty ones. Plus I got a pot roast with potatoes, onions, & carrots going in the crockpot. Just my back was giving me a little grief -which it always does when I do dishes. Now I'm sitting and resting.
Dh said he was ready to go to dbil/dsil's when I was. I just don't want to go over there and spend hours. So we'll go about 12 and spend an hour or so. From there we need to pick up OJ for dh to take his meds with -Dr told him to take the iron supplement (2x a day) with OJ or coffee. Seemed strange but I guess the OJ helps the iron get into the system. He has to go for bloodwork here the end of the month or so to see if his hemoglobin count is up. So we'll stop at Al di's on the way home for milk & OJ. Have to go to our bank to deposit his paycheck, which came yesterday. Want to run into Pub lix because today is the last day for mushroom soup to be on sale. It's $1.33/can but, it's buy one, get one free. Can't find it anywhere near that and we do use it.
Yesterday my legs felt like limp dishrags but feel fine today, so I know I'm getting better -finally. Dh was just cautioning me NOT to overdo. So now I'm just going to rest for a while.
Love viewing your trip, Kathryn!
They did have snow up home. Funny story -well to me anyway. DDIL let dgs15mos sit in their new (gorgeous) shower last night. He doesn't like the tub but loved the shower. She had given his a bowl with bubbles & he played with that. Then dsgd14 called out that it was snowing. DDIL wrapped him in a big towel & took him in to sit by their sliding door to the deck. He watched the snow and then excitedly said, "Bubbles!!" He's since figured out that snow is a word that will be around for a while -a word that ds-A probably likes more than not through the winter. He does have quite a vocabulary for his age. Probably picks a lot up from his big sister & brother and all the other adults he's around.
Noodle soup sounds yummy good, Okay.

Dee - anything with acid (Mostly the vitamin C type) helps the body absorb the iron. DH has been on a 2 a day since his time in the hospital last spring.
We didn't get too far exploring yesterday - found the school where I will be helping the fire victims next week. We also went to the Dollar Store to fill the Christmas Shoeboxes. We did one each for a boy and a girl this year for Samaritan's Purse. They were the first big group to come to Yarnell after the fire. But our church has been doing the shoeboxes for years. Just want to do a special effort this year to thank them.
Did I tell you about the messages and gifts from the people from NJ? People who had been left homeless by Hurricane Sandy sent things to the people in Yarnell who had been burned out. Very moving.
Can't believe it - meds people just sent email that the meds I ordered yesterday had been shipped. Last time it took 10 days to fill the order and ship it.
Time to jump in the shower - I hear DH up so I can make noise.

Glad you're feeling better Dee.
((LO)) Sorry you may have lost your day at home, OK.
Hope the dentist appt. goes well for dd15, Harriet.
Happy for the trip for your dmom, Lilac! GG has said that she would like to go to Disney World, and dd15 has heartily agreed. Our kids are deprived - we've never taken them there - or Disneyland or any other amusement park, mainly b/c dh doesn't like amusement parks.
We did go to Sea World in San Antonio a couple times when we lived in Austin, usually with friends. I think it would be a fun trip! We're going to look into that for the Feb. school break, which is a great time to escape Michigan for warmer climes. Dh typically has a conference or yearly meeting around that time, so I may be taking the girls by myself, which could also be OK.
We have a lot of raking to do too, nancy. That is typically dd15's job as she is also the resident lawn mower. I think dh has had her using the mulch setting on the mower while mowing the back, but there may be too many leaves in the front to do that. We usually end up raking some too.
That's very heartwarming about the people in NJ sending supplies to the people in Yarnell, MT. Our church has done the shoeboxes in the past!
We had a light dusting of snow yesterday - did I share that here? Amazingly, some of it is still hanging around today! Most of it is gone, but there are still white-tipped patches of grass, etc. It is clear and sunny today, another gorgeous day! We're supposed to get into the 50s with rain over the weekend. bleh. I prefer sun, even with cold temps, almost always to cloudy weather.
Done:
x dentist - Look Ma, no cavities! (Where did that come from?) I do have some old silver fillings that the dentist would like to replace in the next year or two.
x B and N - got a nice box of cards. Moms need to start signing tomorrow as there are only 2 more meetings before I will give the cards and gift cards (our treasurer has already bought these) to the child care staff. Two meetings should give time to most of them to sign.
x gassed the van
I have about 1:20 at home now before my next outing. I'm off to finish the a.m. routine.

I allowed myself to get sidetracked before finishing that last round. I saw the 2 big cookie sheets covered with jalapeno peppers that was the last harvest from the garden this year. They have been sitting in laundry room patiently waiting for me to process them. So I did. I'm glad to have all the peppers done. Now the only vegetables from the garden waiting attention is winter squash and pumpkins. I'll tackle them on a cold day (will be baking them in the oven).
Next up -
** 3 minutes in each room.

Quiet day here. I should be out for a walk but think I'll hang around inside for a bit. I'll get lots of steps going to/from the train station and also walking to dinner wherever that will be. Apparently the Canadian delegation is getting together tonight for dinner.
Dh is having a distracted day. He forgot to wish me a good trip so came back to do that. He also brought up his bowl of fruit from breakfast for me to eat. And then he IM'd me about a missing lock-down cable. He came up late from breakfast to get his computer so I'm guessing the day is starting slowly for them.
I think I'll work a bit on paperwork so I can feel like I've accomplished something.

Emptynester, thank you for my sidetrack! I knew it was about time for the shoeboxes, but hadn't checked out locations accepting them near me. Delighted to find a church relatively close by, that my late dh used to help through the area ministries, has started taking them as of this year. Some years there's a lady from our church who takes them and we can just bring to her, but if that's not the case now I know where to drop off.
Noticed at the One Mom's World site, she has a funny "what not to do" shoebox-packing video (3rd one down) from Si Robertson. He's a trip.

Good morning! (For 21 more minutes in CST!)
DS called, wants to come over and run… says temps will be in the 50s by the time he gets here… so… * ugh * … I guess we’ll try to walk. DH says he feels like walking today. His side pain is easing somewhat.
Last night we saw the movie About Time – it’s about a man who inherits the family male ability to travel back in time, within his lifetime only. So he can constantly go back and get a do-over on things… BUT he has to be careful that he doesn’t change other events. It’s a lot better than I’m making it sound. Kinda sad – as ALL father movies are for me, lately… but it’s really, really good. Makes you think about what you’d like to do over, days you’d like to live again. Of course, as with all time travel movies, there are some illogical plot points, LOL.
Favorite fairy tales? Hmmmm… I just don’t know. When I was little, my favorite story was The Three Little Pigs. I think it was because my dgdad was a brick mason. I also liked Goldilocks. (At the moment, it appeals to me b/c I’d love to be back in that bed that was “just right.”) Neither of those probably count as “fairy tales,” anyway.
Well… I’m going to try to get some things accomplished before ds comes over. I am NOT going to just sit and twiddle my thumbs, as is my tendency. (I don’t REALLY twiddle my thumbs, but as far as accomplishments go, generally I would be about as well off.)

Hmmmm fairy tales. Not sure I really liked them. My grandfather gave me a book of them when I was little but I didn't read many of them and don't recall many beyond the classics. These were the originals so very dark. The Little Match Girl still tears me up when I think of that story. <shudder>
I'm on 15's now in order to get something done. Each time dh came into the room this morning, the tv was on so it makes a bad impression.

The pediatrician called and said he does not recommend doing anything else for LO now. All of LO symptoms have gone away except the sore throat. He is not running fever and has no other symptoms now. Dr thought it was systemic related and would go away without any more intervention. I don't understand that, but I do trust this doctor so will follow his recommendation.
Beef has been cut up and sauteed, then vegetables and finally the sauce added. Asian stir fry is ready to serve. Just waiting on DH to show up for lunch.
I'm going to try and rest/relax the next couple of hours. I've been going almost constantly for longer than I can remember. The next few days are packed full with back-to-back activities, so this is my chance to have some down time.
