I'm home, and out of the frying pan into the fire this morning. I had managed to keep today free but drabbi has already texted me and had office secretary call me as he has family issues in Toronto w his dmom who has Alzheimer's. It appears that his wife has to return to Toronto permanently (??) to take care of the mom because of issues with his dsis?

Anyway, I told them I'd be there at 11 a.m. - an hour from now, so poor ddogs will have to wait for their walk this morning. I need to s2s and get out of here.

We were in around 10:15 last night. Mix up w dog sitter and she had death in her family in Kentucky and had left for KY funeral at 10 a.m. yesterday thinking we would be here in late afternoon. We got in touch with a neighbor who came over and fed ddogs and let them out for a while.

Whoops, I am heading to the temple now....didn't get this posted earlier.

Declutter groove continues so I'm going with it. This morning I cleaned out paperwork from LO long legal happenings. I ended up tossing 3 Wal-Mart bags full.

I started looking through this paperwork for needed tax information....which I found and that FINISHED OUR TAXES for 2013. This is HUGE for me. Last year I didn't get the tax stuff done until June because I was in a "grieving brain fog" with DDad's end of life and death.

Lunch is chunks of smoked sausage, onions, bell peppers, garlic and potatoes all fried together in cast iron skillet. One of my favorites.

Also, Lilac, wanted to say I read your post about your dmom with a lot of interest. Don't always know what to say, but recognize your concerns over the long term and do think about you, wondering how things will ever work out for her. Who would think she could just fix her own telephone land line herself and avoid a repair call inside the house - that's a big worry off her mind for sure. But I know from personal experience that no one knows everything about all their needed appliances and household workings, and everyone needs a house call sometime. With none of the usual input about our houses from anyone at all, we might miss many things that need correcting. Best wishes to you and family.

The morning was at hospital again, plus of course 1.5 hours driving. I almost didn't go, but at last moment HRH and I decided to go together.

While there, as promised, I called dsisil with report, and she's now decided she wants to come tomorrow and this time stay overnight. She will "bunk" with dd15. So there's now a lot to get ready for that visit. Then, of course, tomorrow will be an even longer time away from home since dsisil will travel with us this time and will want to have as long a visit as possible before she heads back.

So many things are just on hold right now. A lot is falling by the wayside.

Thoughts of OKay's community on our way home, and passing along kindnesses. We stopped at a little shopping center for a few groceries and HRH went into the oriental restaurant beside it for a take-out meal. There he ran into the police officer who spoke at my ddad's funeral, having lunch with the trainee for whom he is responsible today and another set of one seasoned/one trainee police officers. They had a nice chat and introductions. As HRH picked up the take-out he quietly paid for their meal too (police already get a discount there, which is nice). He said he did it for my ddad's sake - my ddad would have loved a little surprise like that.

Good morning all! It is still barely morning. I had to get DD12 to school, so I was up early (for me). Got to school on time, volunteered to chaperone a field trip in May, and found out how to do day-to-day volunteering. I found the missing book in the back seat of my car, under a newspaper, so I will return it today. I decided to start my job hunt early today, since I was already up. I could not get on the internet until now (1130 in my timezone). So much for early start! I should have gone back to sleep!

Plans for today, in order:

Scan email
Apply to all my saved jobs on LinkedIn and a local large company
File unemployment claim
Pay one remaining bill
Update Quicken
Transfer money
DPC - arrange vet records to volunteer
Ash Wed church service at 6 pm
Determine if more yarn needed for charity project
Fundraiser stuff for animal org
Look up Java at computer academy

There is probably more stuff to be done, but that is the most important. I am off to make a start!

No, no, no... Dee, I am NOT amazing. It's just that we live like -- take your pick -- vampires? Elvis? college kids?
*sheesh * It is INSANE the way this household operates; we are totally out of sync with the civilized world.
It is not so hard to manage going to bed at 3:00 a.m., if one does not get OUT of bed until 11:00 a.m.

My ddad was sure this would break down our health and cause wrinkles, plus being a sign of incredible laziness.

So I live in a constant pull between the schedule I was "taught" and the schedule dh's body clock is on. I have to say, I did not notice dh's body clock being THIS out of time with the rest of the world, until dfil had his stroke. At that point, I think dh got so that he was unable to sleep and started playing computer games until the wee hours... and now, it is just his (our) habit.

I'm lookin' around for the BGS myself. After getting home earlier I've snacked on hummus and crackers but mostly sat in front of this computer. I did go through accumulated email and deleted enough to get down to fewer than 200 in my inbox, all read.

There is a JCC program tonight - trying to decide whether I have to go. Would prefer to stay home, obviously, when I've been away.

DMacs does not seem well. He enjoyed his walk but sat down or laid down several times during walk. Could be he was just enjoying the sunshine, but I'm worried he's going down.

I was feeling discouraged b/c of my lack of productivity today but thought I'd post anyway. Sometimes writing things out here is encouraging and I'm surprised at how many things I DID do after all.

x a.m. routine
x ran dw (b/c we had dinner dates last night and didn't cook)
x emails, 2 social ones, and one related to tutoring. Kept them short.
x phone call to moms' group teen child care worker; I don't need to give her a ride tomorrow after all! (So glad I called to confirm since a ride for her tomorrow was on my calendar, and she lives very far away from me - and in the opposite direction of the church.)
x lunch
x paid snail mail bills; need to check on a couple magazine subscription renewals
x picked up ds; this involved bringing him an extra bag and waiting while he packed up everything. His apt. needs some attention. . . not today, though.
x talked on phone to dfriend B
x laundry: folded 1 load of darks, washed 2 loads of towels. More to do. . .
x went to postal place to buy stamps. Dd18 is prepping her support letters for church youth group trip to Haiti this summer.
x snacked too much this afternoon; I got hungry. Not good.
x unloaded dw

Not sure what to do about Lent this year. still pondering. . .

I've been snacking on Triscuits and cheese...

Baby boy acted like he was ready for a nap... but I put him in the pack-n-play almost an hour ago... and no... that wasn't it at all. He's been watching Sesame Street, but every so often he fusses to let me know he's still there. He has eaten, colored, scattered books all over the floor, cups all over the floor, and turned off the tv a half dozen times. (He got his hands spanked for that, b/c "no, no" was not making much of an impression. And when he gets out of playpen jail, that will be the first place he goes, I bet...)
