We've walked through and placed almost all our furnishings. Some small pieces don't yet have homes but it isn't bad.
Note: that doesn't mean we've placed our stuff, just the furnishings. Some of the furnishing hold stuff (i.e. bookcases and drawer units) but most of the stuff is going to have to be trimmed again and again before (and possibly after) we move.
I think I'm going with a rental storage unit for at least 3 months so I can move questionable luxuries there, place the things I know I need for sure in the apartment and then see what else will fit. That will take a bit of the pressure off and maybe stop me from getting rid of too much. An example is the photo albums and archived business files. I figure because the business files are there, we'll be able to charge this as a company expense.
Interestingly, our bedroom in the new place is way bigger than our existing bedroom so we are moving the massage/heated chairs into the bedroom. Yay! And the guest room is big enough for my desk, a chair, and two bookcases plus the bed and bedside tables.
Dinner is defrosting faster now and I've had a snack. Dh hasn't done the work on the desks yet. I've cleared off the pieces that I was using so he can assemble them.

Re: Simple Sunday
Haven't cuop for Sunday yet, but must let Lilac know that, re: this post above concerning George Strait's concert -- I can assure you that I left with my panties securely ON my person. They enjoyed it and were as shocked as we were, when women started going up and throwing panties on the stage.
Actually, I don't believe anyone was throwing underwear of any type. Maybe his audiences have aged as gracefully as he has... although dh was kinda surprised, I think, at how many 20-something year old girls were in the audience.
And re: his age -- I wasn't saying 61 is old by any means, just that dh was impressed b/c George is almost a year younger than dh, and dh thought HE certainly couldn't keep up that pace. Maybe ranch life keeps George fit.
I was also a bit concerned that he was not wearing his wedding ring, which I know I have seen in pictures before -- but online search apparently seems to reveal that it is NOT unusual for him NOT to wear it, and he is still very happily and securely married. Some seem to think participation in roping events would lead to someone leaving off rings of any kind.
(DH doesn't wear his, btw, b/c it no longer fits.)
DH actually cannot keep up the pace of his own life. He is bowing out of the church singing w/ds tonight... says his wisdom teeth are bothering him, his back is hurting, stomach upset... he's just in a bad way. Went to church this morning -- that was when his back started hurting. Teeth started bothering him yesterday. DS is fine, he can do the song on his own.
Ooohhh -- I love that thought, Twins:
MUST remember that! Not my circus, not my monkey(ies).
Must go... will try to bbl!
Tomorrow is another day.

Re: Simple Sunday
lucylee, I agree with you about George's audiences aging gracefully. I also think with his reputation and longevity, he gets the respect he deserves. Now days it would be tiny thongs that would be tossed on stage.
Twins, I too love the circus, monkey quote. I have way too many opportunities to use it.
I am so disappointed for the Wichita State Shockers. Until today they had an undefeated season, but lost by 2 points at the NCAA basketball game. Oh well, no one can take their undefeated season and conference championship from them.

Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.

Re: Simple Sunday
To wash yarn: Use a skien winder or two chairs or grab a family member wind yarn around like our grannies used to do. Tie them then remove and wash like doing fine hand washables in luke warm water. Squeeze out roll in a towel sand on then dry like you would a sweater. Is how I do it. There are other ways I am sure.
Here is a link.

I am air drying it outside some times just getting it to air out can help. Or use a splash or two of vinegar in the s if pet odors are in it then rinse out.

Re: Simple Sunday
Dinner is done.
We accomplished a fair bit today
* Exercise
* Church
* Errands
* Placing furniture in the new place (apparently that's something we have to do early according to moving to-do lists)
* Moved the part of dh's desk he isn't using to the basement and set it up down there so I could shoot photos to sell it.
* put some things (not all) up for sale
* Cooked a rolled stuff pork for dinner tonight.
* Made up a Shepherd's pie for Monday and Wednesday's dinners
* froze up 6 hamburgers so 3 more meals are in the freezer
* diced up three sweet onions for the freezer
* cleaned up the kitchen and am running the dishwasher
* did a load of laundry
No wonder I'm exhausted. We've set the timer for 30 minutes, we'll get ready for bed and then come down and open the dishwasher door to let things air-dry.
I forgot to tell you that I smashed up my electric frying pan. We had a skillet/griddle combo and the griddle, skillet and lid nest together and it can be stored in a stand vertically. I picked it up, the lid (which is in the middle of the nesting) slipped and I dropped all of it on the floor. Broke two nails, pulled a glute and smashed the lid in two and the plastic from the griddle. The griddle still works (and the skillet sits on top so that would work too if I didn't need a lid) but there are sharp corners and it is missing a handle. I was debating getting rid of it, but certainly not that way! I'm still debating keeping the griddle portion but I never really have a reason to use a griddle, we make pancakes so seldom and when I do, I use a frypan on the stove.

Re: Simple Sunday
Church singing went well... DS sang the Carter family song, "Keep on the Sunny Side." Boy... I wish dmom could get that into her mind. Since she misses church so often, people were very glad to see her and of course, "How are you doing?" got more answer than some people may have really wanted. OTOH, it is good for her church family to know a bit of what she is struggling against, that it is NOT all in her head and a struggle with grief only. But I enjoyed it very much, nice to see some old friends again, and always proud for ds to sing for the people I grew up with.
Dmil... I see no improvement there... wonder how long this will go on before she consents to return to doctor and insists on blood work, etc.
DH is still feeling pretty rough, himself, but as he said, his just started. He has not been complaining with these pains for over a month, like dmil has.
Got phone call reminder that tomorrow is the retired teacher-ladies lunch, so I'll try to make it to that... then Wmart...
Kathryn -- WOW. You HAVE accomplished a lot today! WTG!!! Too bad about the griddle/frying pan.
Lynlee -- likewise -- looks like a whirlwind of activity at your house today too!
Lilac -- that's too bad about Wichita State. Lots of upsets in the NCAA, aren't there? Since Auburn is not in it, dh is watching but not overly concerned with it. He pulls for the SEC teams, of course, and is glad to see they are all doing well. (Hmmm -- who defeated Wichita State? Sorry, if it was an SEC team!)
Waving to Nancy... Twins... Ivy... and EVERYONE ELSE!!!

Ouch, Kathryn. Hope you are not hurting more tomorrow.
Hope lucylee's dh feels better soon.
Lynlee, you're doing a great job with exercise if you managed tai chi and 3k walking on a hot day.
Love the circus quote, too. All day have been resisting saying, what about when it is my circus and they are my monkeys... ...
Of course that could never be the case, could it? Of course not. Certainly not.
Hope lucylee's dh feels better soon.

Re: Simple Sunday
lucylee, it was Kentucky who beat Wichita State. Yes, there has been one upset after another.
I have at least 6 DPC to make this week. They really piled up on me.
I'm going to bed shortly. I really hate that I have to sleep but staying up too late, makes me drag. That being said, once I am asleep I hate to get up. So I need to do a better job of getting enough sleep.
