Lilac I'll be thinking of you and your shoulder.....

b/c I had rotator cuff surgery (no tear, just fringing from huge bone spur)) and I DO know if you don't move your shoulder, due to pain, you can get "frozen shoulder." It happened to me, so had to go under an x-ray for a special cortisone shot into the shoulder capsule in the arm pit. Had PT 11 months that year. Was so just frustrated.

But look at Dee & Sadie , TOO! They went through shoulder problems, so you're in our thoughts, we support you and think of you, as you go through this. Hoping all turns out well for you and my very best to you in this journey. I think Patience is the biggest thing of all to hold onto.

I started the laundry, DH is at Costco, might go to a grocery store in addition to that, I'm playing instrumentals of smooth jazz for a change. It's very relaxing. I decluttered my Inbox and downloaded free e-books, which were on my Nook awaiting download, so I got that job done. So many good books to read. Mainly, right now, I'm reading up on Gastritis, so I know more, which is very helpful. GR8 tips! :!: I want to read on writing and a Janette Oke book, too. I have 2 of hers for free and an Amish book, too. Also, I've got a book about quilters and their story as their lives progress during the sewing bee of a quilt they're all working on. This morning on the news, of the top 5 best things we can do for ourselves (other than write a not-to-do list to keep by our to do list) was #1 = be a learner, never stop expanding your mind and educating yourself and if you do, you'll live longer, too! :!: :P

It's still raining.

Dee, my thoughts are with you at your Dr. appt. and hope all goes well.

I need to work on exercise better, too. My Dr. asked me to try to be more active, but by decluttering, doing Congas, etc... I'm getting in a lot of activity. When dgrson is here, I'll take my trekking poles and go on hikes in the woods with him and walk along the lane, too. We could possibly walk 1 mile a day, if we set our minds to it. He likes to keep in shape and active. Used to do wrestling and does skateboarding, too. So his being here will be an incentive to get hiking/walking in. 8-)

I hope everybody's having a good 13th. Waving hello to you all! :D

I'm finally dressed for the day. That happened around 1:20.

Waterbed is filled. I think the new mattress is NOT no-motion. Or else something else is wrong. We are definitely moving on it! The new heater is very nice. Dh used water that was too hot (we thought it was warm but obviously it wasn't) so the bed is at temperature now. I need to find the linens and mattress pad, though. We are holding off making the bed until this evening because we'll want to burb it some more. It will be nice to move back into the waterbed (I hope - I'm not sure about moving back to semi-waveless from motionless.)

The bedroom is progressing, but slowly. The bathrooms continue to hold me up although having a linen closet helps. There were two sets of under sink drawers filled with extras that both dh and I use (like soap.) Dh is asking "which bathroom?" and I'm pointing out the linen closet makes more sense so we each have access should the other be in their bathroom.

My bathroom cabinet is too small for towel hangers I bought but they work well for dh. Two over-the-cabinet-door bins are working well too, one in the kitchen, the other in dh's bathroom. Only one double rod (for jackets/blouses) will fit, we just don't have enough short stuff, so one will be returned. I still have cull my clothes more severely. Losing bathroom counter space means I'll be doing things like make-up & hair in the bedroom, so I'll need a drawer for those items and thus lose drawer space for clothes.

Lunch break is over and it is time for me to get back to work.

Lunch made/served

Dryer twirling (I thought I started it before I left this morning, but found wet clothes in dryer when I came home. HOpefully I just didn't start it instead of dryer being broke)

Yeah, Kathryn! Dressed for the day might be later, but it's better than not dressing at all! :!: :)

Lilac & Dee, I don't know if you have the "bra problem" I do, but my Dsis has it, too, b/c of her shoulder. Regular bra straps dig into the shoulder after awhile. What is a gal to do? Well, if you don't want to go bra-less, an athletic bra with the X-straps in back are GR8- but after much research on the Internet, I've found the perfect solution AND my Dsis has done it for years! The Barely There bra by Bali comes 2 to a pkg., mine was 1 white, 1 beige, but I'm sure there may be some black ones, too. They're VERY lightweight, lighter weight than an athletic bra, have an "X" strap crossing in back, no hooks, no underwire, no constricting, the straps don't dig in, but IF your shoulder gets sore, all you need to do is "tuck" the strap into the cup to make a 1-strap bra OR a strapless bra. They hug the breast, giving what I believe IS support. I'm dealing with breast trauma right now, was wearing my athletic bra, was doing housework and YIKES! My bra shoulder straps were digging in the upper back and shoulders, so I changed into my Barely There bra and feel so wonderful and comfy, yet supported, too. So if either of you have the shoulder v. s. bra strap dig-in pain or discomfort, you "might" want to try the Barely There bras. I believe they're sold in stores, in bra dept.'s and are common there, but I got mine on-line. After the testimony by a woman who tried out various bras, after her rotator cuff surgery, I was sold and am so grateful she posted her review on bras. My Dsis has had several Dr.'s tell her and lingerie salesladies tell her how good the Barely Bra is for women, too. Just a tip.

I put 2 yarn totes away, dust mopped the house, washed 4 mirrors, 4 sinks, 3 bathroom counters, and the outsides of toilet tanks and the bottom outer bowls on the toilets. In the master bathroom, on the left side, facing the shower, I found a bit of black mold on the tank, but it cleaned up easily. I'm doing lol and will do towels tomorrow, so they're fresh. I found out that the ARC pick-up date will be Thurs. the 26th, while dgson-17 is here, but we'll move the boxes to the entry way after Father's Day, before dgson comes on the 22nd, so he has more room for his stuff in the Bunny Room. The entry way is wide, has a long table DH made in 8th grade, which looks like a Frank Lloyd Wright table, it's gorgeous and 2 folding chairs are there, too. Right now, I've got a box with handles full of books, to return/loan to DD on Father's Day, which are on the table. I'm going to go rest, I ache now, and DH doesn't like me over-doing as soon as he leaves the house. So I'll listen to my master and go sit down now. I'm so happy I've gotten a lot done, it feels good, and this way, very little will hit us this afternoon or on Saturday all day, and Sunday a.m. It feels good to do a Conga.

It's so stormy here, gusty winds in the high timber trees, dark, gloomy, and raining.... It might be gloomy outdoors- but it's happy in my heart and sunny in my mind, too.

Thanks for good "DR" thoughts. Came through it all with pretty near flying colors. Mammogram results just came in and it was good. Always a little nervous about that. The only 'bad' thing on my lab work was that my triglycerides were a little on the high side, not bad, but not the best. So I was proactive and printed out some advice from J ohn Hopkins on the internet and she went over it with me. Also will be getting a call with their office liason who works on different things like diabetes, balance, etc, etc. I had asked for that also. So don't have to go back until October 15th. Do have a test to do at home over the next few days and I'm expecting that to be ok as well.

Morning ya'll..

Ive, I have several AH Ha bras that I like a lot. You can step into them and then pull it up over your body. I liked them enough that I went on line and bought them with underwires for more support. I also have several that have "modesty" cups which are really inserts so that your, ahhh..nipples don't show. Most of the time I wear mine around the house, and I also swim in min.

Mine are comfortable, but don't always supply the support that I need ...meaning I get droopy boobs...so I check my mirror before I leave the house. They work fine in the winters when wearing heavier tops, but because I teach and am VERY conscience of how I look standing in front of a bunch of kids, I always make sure nothing shows through, if ya know what I mean. I had a teacher once who taught wearing the wrong type of bra and "things' kept popping through. I finally had to say something to her. I seen the same thing happen with other teachers as well. Short dresses and skirts can be a disaster as well. And believe me, the kids talk amongst themselves about teachers and the way they dress, wear their hair, and use make up.

My morning routines were done early this morning. Bed remade, sheets laundered and put away and footprints picked up.

There was much to learn at my genealogy class yesterday so I am planning to spend sometime working on it. My new to me cousin and I have spent many hours talking about all sorts of things. She's been an extra bonus in this process.

Its about lunch time for me, so that means a swim for Will, mine comes later, and then later a movie with Sweetie. I made homemade Chicago pizza last night and it was delish...according to Sweetie that is. I had a very small taste and then ate my fish. WE're having seconds tonight so I don't need to worry about dinner...and I like that idea.

Hope ya'll have a terrific day...Hang in there Kathryn, things are coming along just fine. Take time to breath and enjoy your view. All work and no play is really bad for your health  LOL

YEAH for you Dee...

I'm taking a quick break to sit for a few minutes. Dailies and weekly routine almost done.

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!

((Lilac))! Good thoughts for a quick healing.

Dh heard thunder this morning so went out and mowed our lawn. I went out with him and got some more weeding done. Also cut down some sapling trees growing beside the house. We got done just before the rain started.

??Question to those who use Firefox.....is anyone having trouble opening a "new tab"? I have always kept two tabs open - one for our Village here, and one for Facebook. Anything else I want to look up I open a separate tab for. Sometime between yesterday and when I turned on computer a little while ago the little + stopped working and will not allow a new tab to open. Any suggestions???

I have made a list of things that need done by the end of next week. To start I have made an appt. with Vet. for ddogs annual check up. Two more things are stops at the library to renew my card and the bank to cash in some rolled pennies. I'm sure I will need to add more later.

Dee... happy for your good visit with dr.

Next up is to finish dusting and pu/pa.

We had a SHE dinner the other night :) . After reading about Salt Potatos from one of Dee's posts a while back, I found a recipe online & made them. Yummy! That same night I made Indi's recipe for Roasted Beef with Horseradish Cream. Very yummy! The marinade that you put the meat in overnight has a wonderful flavor, as does the Horseradish Cream. I used a larger roast than the recipe called for so cut it in half & slightly overcooked it. Fortunately, you cook the roast in the marinade so spooning some of that over sliced pieces of the meat saved it. Wish I had made it while Indi was still alive so I could have told her how much we enjoyed it. I clicked on the 5 star rating on her website anyway :) . Here's a quick link to it so you don't have to search her site (I'll put it in the Kitchen section, too).

((Kathryn)), I was so upset for you about the damage the movers did. Would changing your bathroom doors to sliding pocket doors be an option in your new home? Also, a few days ago you mentioned that your heavy amp has no wheels & is difficult to carry to the car & into church. Dh bought a small dolly to put some of our room air conditioners on (we store them in the attic) & they work beautifully. He bought it at Harbour Frieght, but you could probably find one in most of the big hardware stores:

((Elizabeth)), I'm sorry about the way your ex-inlaws treated you, & that you have to deal with your ex & that woman coming to your party. I remember a song from years ago that had lyrics in the chorus that you might want for your music playlist ;) . It's by Baillie & the Boys & is called She Deserves You:

And if she wants a man who'll
Take the ring off of his hand
And then turn around
And say that he'll be true
Then she deserves you

Here's a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdko3Fqg ... x2bKl-A_Wc

Harmony, you had mentioned Jan Karon the author several days ago. I read recently that she has written another Mitford book! Hooray! I loved that series. It will be available in out September. Here's an a mazon link to it so you can read what it is about:

Hi Lilac! You had asked if I was still working in the attic. I'm through up there for a while --but not because there isn't more to do :) . I shifted my focus back to the basement & am happy to say that with dh help we are making a lot of progress there as well.

Congratulations to Harriet & family on the birth of newest dgson! So glad to read that mom & baby are both doing well, & that you & dd headed out for a visit with them.

Lucylee, I loved the chiming clock story that you shared.

Waving to Kally ~~~~it was so nice to see your porch light on the other night. :)

Be back later to cuop for the last couple of days. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

DH returned from Costco, bought me a red Kenneth Cole large red leather wallet with a wristlet on it, so nice for a clutch purse to lighten up the load off the shoulders w/a purse. Next to the wallets were belts, for men, so he's finally gotten himself a quite nice black leather belt and is saving his scratched, faded, yucky-looking one for the work in the woods on his pants for the firewood. He'd been wearing it for good, too, so now he's spiffed up. He asked me what we needed at Safeway, all I could think of was seafood salad and another salad from the deli for Father's Day. Will be nice light meal for lunch for DD and us.

The wind's still gusty here, but rain's stopped, and it's sunny here.

Dee, Congratulations on your appt. and your proactive plans, too. :) WTG! Everything can be worked on and nothing was out-of-sight or life-threatening, so you're in good hands with what sounds like a good Dr.

I've got a couple of AH-HA Bras, too, with cup inserts to cover up the nipple look. Those are comfy, but the sizing is quite different, so I had to go on-line, search their sizing first, measure, before I got mine on sale 2-to-1 pack at BBB. :)

Cowinkie, You must be tiny if you can step "into and pull up" your Barely There bras. :P I'm bottom-heavy, so need to pull them on from overhead. I'm afraid if I stepped into them, they'd get stuck below the rear-end on the upper thighs.  Kudos to you for being able to step in and pull up. Maybe I'll make that be a "goal" of mine, to tell me when I'm REALLY in shape! :!:

I wrote Saturday's "to do" list, set my dawn simulator for 9 a.m. b/c sometimes we stay up later on Fri. nights, especially if boxing matches are on. It's nice to plan ahead. I'm looking forward to crocheting and reading, to relax.

Good morning! Well, it is morning here. I'm sitting on my hotel room balcony getting caught up on some computer stuff. Dh has gone to the last morning of sessions of his conference. He has several students giving papers today. The view is gorgeous - blue sunny skies, clear blue green waters that change to a deep blue as they stretch out to the horizon, pale gold sands, palm trees. I even have a decent view of Diamond Head rearing up in the background. I can hear the lapping of the water on the shore, the twittering of birds, and the chattering of tourists on the beach and in the pool. Lovely!! It is a little windy.

Dh and I went for a jog this morning. Oy! It didn't go well for me, but I'm glad I went. I got lost at one point and tried to avoid the beach but got caught on it b/c I don't know my way along the hotels and paths. I cut my jog short by 3 minutes. We were jogging before 6 a.m., being on different time. Dh has not completely switched to this time zone.

BTW, remember when I told you my resting heart rate was 64? Dh's resting heart rate is 44. Not bad for a 50 year old guy.

I'm going to tidy up the room and do my teeth and face care. Then, I might go meander among the shops. Dh should be back in about 1.5 hours, and then we'll need to check out and have lunch. We are flying to Kauai this afternoon.
