Here it is 3:30 and I finally have groceries put away. Went to W mart and A ldi's after church. I wanted to get coffee k cups for the coffee maker in French vanilla. Saw a spot for them at A's last week but they had none. So I bought one box -more pricey at W mart and then went to A's and found they had just 2. They are smaller boxes but they come to more servings and cheaper when I got the two boxes.
Oh here comes dh -have to take chairs to the storage unit and get the things out I want him to bring. BBL

Home from up the river. The weather was wonderful. I've never gone up there this early in the season (I often go for their anniversary service which is the 4th Sunday of October) so I haven't seen that route with all the trees in their glory. It was lovely. I was taking photos with my cell phone but it doesn't do it justice at all.
We had a good long visit with one of my friend's parishioners. She isn't online but she sends birthday and Christmas cards so we keep in touch that way and felt she deserved a lot of our attention which she gladly soaked up!
After church we visited with a few others and then headed off with our friend to lunch. We got there at 1:30, it closes at 2 but they allowed us to stay until 3, chatting. It was a good deep conversation. After we left, dh commented that our friend really confides in me now. He really has no-one else to and laments that he can't meet anyone because a minister really doesn't have the option to date people, plus the people he meets are usually involved with church and therefore not available. He also has high standards and is divided. He really should be living in a big city, not a small town without people with his education and interests (he has several degrees including a doctorate in church music and is an uber proficient organist and pianist with a lot of passion for classical music.)
On the other hand, he has shared custody of his two boys and so has to remain in the small town or give that up.
We were home by 5 and dinner is in the oven, although at the moment, I have no interest in eating.
I was so recharged by the visit, I sprung for data on my phone and dowloaded next weeks reading and started to do my exegesis in the car on the way home.
Since coming home, I've sent out an email to the usual suspects inviting them to Thanksgiving dinner next Monday night. I can't do it on Sunday because I'm working, plus I've invited my friend and he works Sunday too. My calendar didn't show ds working but here at home the later version does so he either just added it or my tablet didn't synch properly.
My friend asked if I'm interested in working at his churches when he away and I said Yes! They are a contrast (one is very tiny, the other is large by my standards) and they have different personalities. I've been to the second church once and so would be comfortable preaching at both points. I'd have dh play for me at the first service since they don't have a choir so we could take over the music no problem and give the organist a week 'off'. Of course, my friend has to get the permission of his board and they aren't too keen on women in the pulpit.

Waving to all!!!
Late night last night... but ooohhh... we had a good game! (((RR))) -- not so much...
That's all I have to say about that.
We did not go to church this morning, and I think we really needed the catch up sleep. It has been a long week.
Still a lot on my mind... that's in J&C.
DGS is here, ddil works tonight, ds will be home around midnight. DH & I are going to take him with us and go to Wmart tonight.
I've also managed to
wash a load of clothes this afternoon,
s/s all bathrooms and the kitchen,
write the check for the newspaper man,
water plants,
read the paper,
and s2s.
Very happy to hear dd joined the church "officially," Harriet. (Sounds kinda like she had actually been an active "member" for sometime.
I hope I'm not starting a firestorm of a politically incorrect topic here, but I am wondering if if y'all do this similar to the way we do. In the Methodist church, most children are christened/baptized (by sprinkling) as infants, mainly as a dedication ceremony. No Methodist that I have ever heard of thinks this has any bearing on their salvation, -- but later, when they are about 12 or so, they go through a class that teaches them about church doctrine and membership, and most desire to "confirm the vows made for them at their birth." This is when they make their public profession of faith and many choose to be re-baptized (by sprinkling) at that time, as well.
Of course, coming from a Baptist church, where I suspect many don't really "count" baptism unless it's by immersion, and being heavily influenced by my ddad's Church of Christ family, who DEFINITELY don't count it unless it is by immersion, I guess I've had mixed views on this since joining the Methodist church myself. I reconciled myself to it by telling myself if ds was old enough to make the decision for himself -- re: church membership and salvation -- then he was certainly old enough to make the decision re: the method of baptism he would choose. And, approximately 18 years later, I don't know many people with a stronger faith than ds, so I am quite happy with his upbringing in the Methodist church.
And -- b/c of the way ds has grown up -- I am quite happy with my decision to join the Methodist church. My ddad was not thrilled when I left the Baptist church but baptism was basically the reason I chose to change my membership. The Methodist church will accept new members simply by a letter from their previous church but the Baptist church requires new members to be immersed, if they have not been previously. That did NOT sit well w/dh At. All. He believed his Methodist statement of faith was quite satisfactory, thank you.
Oh well. Hope none of that offended anyone. I'm just interested in how other denominations do. Please ignore if it was inappropriate.

I played FlyLady Bingo. I did 2 LOL, put them away, did the bathrooms' counters, kitchen counters, dumped all trash, dusted the very deep coffee table in the bunny room. It's so low, deep and long, I had to put a Swiffer cloth on the dust mop, then stayed it with Endust, which has a citrus scent, and "dust-mopped" the shelf really good, standing up. It's so much easier than getting down on my knees, trying to get the entire deep shelf, and it was done within a minute, the way I did it. Next, tomorrow probably, I'll put the bunny room back together. I dusted the kitchen eating bar shelves, the dining room, and great room. I crocheted some more on DGS-3.5's Christmas afghan, I'm on row 81 now, and need 114 rows before adding the border. It sure looks nice to DH and me.
It got hot in the house, as it's hot outdoors, I was running a fever, so took something for it, while DH turned on the heat pump to cool down the house, and I snoozed in my recliner for about 40 minutes. Kitty Cat is on her "throne" in front of our glass door, which leads out onto the patio, from our bedroom. The "Throne" consists of 3 tapestry Walmart floor pillows, 1 on top of the other, stacked and the stack's topped with a fleece throw I made. It's higher up for her- like a "throne",
and she lays there, watching the wildlife and birds, in the sunshine. She hasn't used it in quite awhile.
Lucylee, It's "interesting" how which churches feel "immersion" is the ONLY way to go, but other churches are fine with baptism as an infant, too. I used to attend a Baptist Church, in H. S., but never was immersed,as they didn't do that there, ever, when I attended. However, as a baby, In the S. F. Bay Area, I was Baptized as a Lutheran baby, but when my parents divorced, Mom moved up here. When she remarried, gave birth to my baby brother, he was getting Baptized and DGramma "INSISTED" I be RE-Baptised, only this time, as a Methodist! So, as a baby, I got a double-dose.
When I became an adult, I was confirmed in the Episcopal Church, with DH, because he was raised Episcopalian, and later, I renewed my Baptism vows in front of the congregation, when the Bishop visited, when confirmation candidates were confirmed, and Baptisms were done. One man, in our confirmation classes, found out from his Dmom, he'd not ever been Baptized as an infant. His wife was horrified, so he got Baptized, with Holy Water, on top of his head, as he knelt. So they didn't do "Immersion" there, too. Now that I've been Baptized twice as an infant, did confirmation vows AND re-confirmation vows, I'm covered- IMHO!
At a church camp I attended, they did Immersions, too, but I never did it, because I knew I'd already been Baptized.
Kathryn, Your river day sounded so nice!
Dee, I love French Vanilla International Coffee.
Waving to Blessedw2, Twins' Mom, Harriet, and those who visit here later today, this evening, etc...

"In which Harriet posts skippable stuff"
I am feeling down. So I need to pop up out of this and have an attitude adjustment.
For one thing - surprise! An old friend of HRH's will fly in on Wednesday and assumes we want to be his home-away-from-home for Wed, Thurs and Fri afternoon/evenings. He is making big bucks at a seminar and all expenses paid. How nice for him.
This is happening in the 3 days before dd34's family of 6 arrives on Friday evening for the weekend and I have so many better things to do than entertain this guy, whose "visit" will overlap even their arrival. So HRH says he will entertain. Fine, but frankly we have things HRH needs to do, too. And not anything I want others doing with him, inserting their ideas. I've been taken in on that concept of "oh, he'll help me" before. And then whatever the project was, the whole thing changed before they were through, often costing more, taking more time. Just the level of ILL that I will be if that happens is enough to avoid it.
So I'm in a mood.
I'm sure it's hard to tell.
Also I'm frustrated because I lost my "streak", to use Twins' Mom's words, of exercise. I can hop back on that, but it is just a bad time to be playing catch-up. Also it just feels like I'm bloated. And I'm a little discouraged that energy level doesn't stay up as I think it should.
lucylee, today was a profession of faith for dd, but there is no assumption on anyone's part that it is her first one - just the one as she chooses to join this church. She was the first of my children baptized as an infant, as all my family were. For 2 decades, my membership was with my late dh in another denomination, and after his death my older children and I returned to this church. It was interesting to me that a fellow came near the front and took photos as this happened today. I've never seen that. Selfishly, as a mother, I want a copy now. But at the time it seemed trivial to be doing that during a worship moment.
The coming week will need to be heavy on the housework for me. That's good - sense of accomplishment.

Nancy, thank you. The fellow will spend nights elsewhere, thank goodness. But wants to be here for 5 hours each evening. I need to get over this. (Hope the jeep turns out to be just what your dh hopes.)
HRH keeps asking me if I'm okay. Obviously I'm being obvious. That's not very nice, is it? How easy is it to make a dh feel bad - it's like falling off a log when you've been married as long as I have. And pretty much a cheap shot. He didn't do anything. But he's bringing logic to a hormone fight, poor thing. Sooo outgunned.
He even started saying this must be his fault, even my exercise disappointment, because HE is not active enough to encourage ME. Not. That needs to be the end of that.
So, attitude adjustment!
I read some of the contest summaries of winners for a recent exercise contest using my DVDs. That was kinda inspiring. They are so happy, good for them. Watching out that I have No covetousness. I would like results LIKE their results, and am happy for them that they have theirs.
And tomorrow is Apron Day. I need to get back into uniform!

Lost my evening to long phone calls but it is important to spend time with people (especially today since I benefited from time with my friend.)
Did do a little bit of tidying while on the phone but not efficiently.
Dh is heading to bed and I'm on my way too.
Lucylee: as our denomination comes from Presbyterian/Methodist amalgamation, we sprinkle as babies and confirm in teen years. Nothing strange to me. We also accept a letter of baptism as sufficient to join the church after professing one's faith to the congregation.

(((Harriet))) Boy... when it rains it pours.
So nice to see all the input re: baptism. I guess I didn't completely make it clear, re: my own experience, but I was baptized on profession of faith and joined the Baptist church at age 7. I've always been very "defensive" of the Baptists when dh gets sorta critical... but I can definitely see his point of view, now that I've had some time in the Methodist church.
My late maternal grandfather grew up Methodist and joined the Baptist after marrying my grandmother. He told me once, "I will always believe some things like the Methodists, but I can be a good Baptist." LOL -- I guess that helped cement my decision to join dh's church after we married.

Good evening everyone! It is late and I am just checking in before bedtime. DD12 and I made church, where we delivered some party invitations and volunteered for the fall festival. She wanted to drop out of her Thursday youth group volunteer commitment, but I reminded her that not only had she signed up, but I was one of the DRIVERS. She decided that was sufficient reason to go. We went to our usual Chinese post-church lunch, then to the grocery store. Normally, I do not run errands with DD, because our time is limited and other activities are more important (and more fun). However, when one is running out of TOILET PAPER, it must be done! We played computer games together at home, and she helped me with some measurements so I can make my costume.
The Bible study that usually meets during her youth group was cancelled, so I used that time to catch up on emails. and work on the church's web home page. Retrieved DD and took her to the X, then ran some less urgent errands, and ate dinner at home. After that, I continued work on the web page and thought I had completed it. I realized there was one thing from my notes that had been forgotten, but will fix it tomorrow. There are no errors anymore (that I know of) and everything is current now, there is just one piece of missing info.
I still need to do catboxes. I did not do any sewing or crisis cleaning today.
Tomorrow, I have a phone interview in the morning. Other stuff I need to get done or work on:
Job search stuff
Animal org minutes
Website work
Sewing Anna dress
Double check measurements, enter them into pattern software, and design my dress
Errands: get printer ink and fabric.
The balloon fiesta is this week and traffic will be HORRENDOUS!!! All errands must be near the house. Too bad they are not close enough for me to WALK!!! At least my Friday interview is in the opposite direction.
