Soul Satisfying Sunday

It is good to give our souls a rest and a chance to just be. Whether you obtain that through worship, intentional, reflective, fasting (as Twin's did yesterday) or through connecting with creation, we need a rest from the burdens of our times and chance to just rest.

It doesn't have to be a full day. As my training on Sabbath has taught me, learning to recognize sabbath moments and seasons is also a part of developing the sabbath habit.

But it is important to develop the habit of taking soul rests. If our souls are in balance, the rest of our lives will fall into balance as well.

So may you all find a moment's peace today.

My Sabbath will start once I'm in the car. In the meantime, there's a slight scramble to get on our way in less than an hour.

I've reclaimed the kitchen, found homes for a few more items piled in the hall, had my tea and chocolate and tidied the bedroom. Also weighed myself with pleasing results. The washer is buzzing for me to hang up the clothes to dry.

Once I s2s and get out the door, we have a 100 minute drive through rolling countryside and rough Canadian Shield to my friend's church. Then worship and coffee hour so we can visit with his congregation (we've got to know several of them over the years) and a long, long, lunch and visiting with him. Then the 100 minute drive home with different views and a chance to reflect on the day before returning to 'real' life.

The day will be a chance to just BE.

These days only happen a couple of times a year but they are a complete blessing and help me reboot myself and start over with fresh energy the next day.

Happy 'rebooting', Kathryn. I've been sitting here trying to decide if I am going to church. You pushed me over the edge and I have about 1 1/4 hours to do a little here and get ready to go. I knew dh was not planning to go today -he has too much on his plate for 1 day already. It's the time of year when he becomes increasingly busy.

I got up around 1:20 and it was only 59 out here. We put our heater tower in the bedroom last night and turned the furnace down. Bedroom was very cozy with the door closed. Dh turned the furnace up to 70 when he got up and now it's somewhat warm out here. He closed all the shades last night to help conserve heat. Know when I looked at the outdoor temp a while ago it was up to 41. I'm sure he'll just keep the shades down once I leave since he's rarely in here during the day. I get claustrophobia after a while in here with it so dark. That's the one problem at dd's in FL -their house is so dark because of the lack of windows. Our room is fine, but the great room not so much. She's thought of putting a couple of tubes in to increase the light.

When I got up at 1:20, I realized I really wasn't feeling well so took my BS -71. Ate a few peanut butter pretzels to compensate. I was really surprised because I had a piece of wedding cake yesterday & a couple of cookies as well as some punch. But that was the only thing I had between breakfast & dinner. For dinner I had a bowl of the potato laden clam chowder our dfriend from the campground brought to us on Friday. So I figured I was good to go.

Have had meds, made the bed (my rule is when I go back into the bedroom for anything I have to make the bed then -can't NOT do it. ) Just finished breakfast and my one cup of coffee. Should be minimizing my creamer so I don't have to buy another container but not sure I'll make it. Have to think about it.

Dh should get the truck tomorrow that he's driving to FL. Then we can load whatever I have packed into that and some into our car. Hoping it warms up a bit before tomorrow.

Think I'm ready to venture out into the 'br-r-r-r' outdoors. I know I will be glad to leave the cooler temps behind in (hopefully) another 11 days or as I tell dd "11 sleeps". Downside is that I have to leave dh for a few weeks. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. We've had a lifetime of his being gone for weeks (and in some instances months) at a time.

When the furnace isn't running, I just get downright cold. At least I have a new winter jacket that I can wear here and when it's cooler in FL. Needed to upgrade badly this year. I have a warm white 'fuzzy' one in FL that I can trade off with now and then.

Haven't seen dh at all this morning. I'm not even sure when he left the bed. Hoping if he came out here to sleep for a while -and it looks like he did- that he turned the heat up. It was mighty cold in this half of the RV. Wish it was on a timer like ours was at home.

I love that.soul satisfying Sunday.. connecting with creation. I have been forgetting to put my Sunday's aside for connecting in all areas especially my creator and my family on this special day. I have been rushing through my faith lately and not really taking time for being in the moment and being in the moment of being grateful. I have been loosing focus and going into too many directions than my brain can handle.. the problem of letting my decluttering go while I got my children ready for the world this last year as well as feeling the importance of helping others in my family (extended too) as they dealt with life's valley's. My ADD got the best of me. . Enjoying Sunday will be my goal for the next few months and next year.

Dd joined the church today along with a family of 5. She had been slated to join years ago but the others her age in the small class they had, in preparation for joining, moved away. Since she is always there, she was sort of forgotten until we just mentioned it. Several told us they distinctly remembered her joining. But what they were remembering was a Bible gift ceremony for young people, and since we had only 3 young people in that age group at the time, it seemed so personal, so folks had a "visual" of dd during the service in their minds. It was very nice that her friend was with us in church today for this.

The usual 3rd song leader couldn't be there for rehearsal, though she could arrive by church time. So I joined in practice for the two hymns (as opposed to praise songs which 3rd song leader does so well) and she and I handed off the music folder mid-service. The bass singer and I are older and know the old hymns of the church well. Many young people would actually have to have a rehearsal to sing what are considered standards. So now I have substituted for two leaders at two times and feel a little better about it.

Last night dh and I came home pretty early from the break the fast and built a fire in our fire pit. Don't know what the temp was but it was chilly with a slight breeze. Perfect evening outside and the time flew by - we were out until past 11, way past my bedtime. I slept in this morning but was up three times earlier (twice with ddogs, once for a bathroom break.) I can't believe it's almost 1:30 here. I need to get out of pajamas and walk ddogs and do a few productive things. Dh has gone to the market, dd is upstairs and will head back to school this afternoon.

I did the tag renewal for dd's car also since she did the emissions testing yesterday.

Supper tonight is chili. Dh has already asked if I want to invite anyone over....I really want a quiet evening tho.

This is my 2nd day this week, where I've had interrupted sleep. It's happening on Friday or Saturdays, once a week, without fail. It happened when DD and DGS visited us the last weekend of September, too. I just get up, crochet for awhile, have QT, and later, eat, go back to bed. This a.m. I slept from 4 - 9 a.m., so I'm caught up now. I'm doing a taper-down on a medication, which can cause this. DD thought so, too. In Feb., the med will be completely out of my system, so am looking forward to a Happy New Year!

My Dfriend, has shipped me this book, by CEO, Cynthia Ewer: "THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO GETTING ORGANIZED - FAST TRACK,". I priced it on-line. For paperback it ranged from $12.95 - $9.71 and for e-book, I saw $8.99. I have her HOUSE WORKS, too, which is also very good. I look forward to future writings by her, as well, when they become available. I enjoy her website, too.

It's sunny here, we touched the heat one, earlier, to take the chill off the house. I'm on my way to play "FlyLady Bingo," and do LOL all day, to catch up before the week arrives tomorrow. I'm also working on DGS-3.5's Christmas afghan, am about 3/4 way done, and would love to get it done by bedtime or by Monday at bedtime. I love the warm "boy" colors.
